My question is What are the foods for Nutrisystem diet? Thanks for any response. My 2nd question... So I am starting day 3 now. Last night was rough before dinner, had withdrawal headaches, but I stuck to it 100%. I am honestly feeling great even after just 2 days of NS. Its amazing how quickly things change in the body.. |

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an decent answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could assist you..

It just gets better! Really continue to stick 100% for at least the first 3 weeks. This is a great time of the year because there are not any major feasts coming up (except V-day and that's a terrible time to go to an over crowded restaurant). You'll be amazed at what will happen to your body over a very short time - especially if you add in some walking. Keep up the good work - if you can stick for a year, your reward will be much much better than winning the lottery..

Nice that you are already telling a difference. After a couple of days of eating healthy, I experienced the same. Stay after it...

Hey Dan I am on Day 6 so I can totally relate. I have been pleasantly surprised by the food. I honestly have not had anything that I did not like. I was dreading the split pea soup and I was very surprised how tasty it is (never had pea soup in my life lol).
I am staying on plan 100% because I know it does work. I watched my Mom lose 75lbs on Nutrisystem years ago.. |
I'm on day 4 myself and like stated it's funny how quickly the body can change. I was telling some coworkers today how much more energy I feel like I have this week, it's pretty drastic really. I decided to just take it easy the first week and let my body get used to the diet change and just walk a few times this week. Next week I'll start my gym routine and gradually work my way back up to where I was in my highschool/early college days..
I look forward to living this experience with some of you guys, and hope to have the same success that so many that post here have had!.. |
Yeah the energy level already is there. I can't dream that it will even increase even more. lol.
Normally after work and a hour long drive home I get home and just veg in front of the computer. Last night I got home and actually wrestled around with the dog. Just felt good cept for the headache.. One thing that is helping is the wife is on Nutrisystem with me. So far she doesn't have any complaints and is doing okay to. Cept she has a head ache as well. But we will stick it through.. Another thing. Have yall slept better at night once on the NS?.. |
Once the headaches stop you will be amazed with all of the positive changes you'll experience. Good luck and keep it going...
I definitely sleep better for a couple of reasons:.
1 - I am now much more active.. 2 - I no longer get GERD, which I used to get a lot before NS. Once I srated eating healthy, it cleared up almost immediately... |
Welcome Dan! You're off to a great start!.
I not only sleep better, I sleep less. After about five and a half to six hours of sleep I am wide awake and ready to get at it again. It is simply amazing how your life can change if you will make some changes!. Enjoy the journey! It is worth every step!.. |

That's one of the best parts. No more acid reflux. I have an unopened bottle of Zantac in my meds cabinet that I've had for a year. I also suffered from sleep apnea & my wife would wake me up to either tell me to stop snoring or to start breathing.
For a while after I lost the first 40 lbs. she would wake me up to see if I was still alive because I wasn't snoring.. Needless to say, we BOTH sleep better now... |
Did you (or anyone else for that matter) have to use a CPAP device? Just curious, becuase I suffer from severe sleep apnea. I was diagnosed over a year ago and have been using one ever since..
If I lose as much weight as I want to, I'm wondering if I will be able to stop using the device.. That would be great, but I have resigned myself to being stuck on that thing for life... |
I can echo that. I was having reflux 5 times a week, and my wife almost abandoned me for the guest room. I have had 2 zantac in the past 4 months and my wife has made similar comments about being dead. I sleep better, and function better. It is easier to get up and hit the gym before work now as well...
Welcome Dan and the other fresh faces. Keep it up, you know what the reward is. Michael I share your sentiments about the GERD. One medication I know longer need...
I also had severe sleep apnea. I'm talking about 99 stoppages per hour according to my sleep study. I used a Bi-pap for about 5 years. I stopped using it about 2 months ago and feel great. HOWEVER, I am not recommending that you do as I have done simply because I likely should go for a follow up sleep study just to make sure the issue has resolved. I do know that if I get 7 or more hours sleep per night, I awake rested, happy and ready to tear through the day...

Hey guys where did you get the weight loss tracker in your signatures, I need to get one going asap. I guess I'm lucky as I haven't experienced any headaches or hunger. It almost seems too easy, I can't wait to kick in my exercise regimen. Who says I can't lose 100 lbs in a year???..

Nice start Dan and ccsledge. Sledge, the one type of ticker can be had at.

I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea late last year and have been on a CPAP for a bit over two months now. I hope the weight loss will eventually enable me to get off of it because one of my long term goals is to get fit enough to do a month long wilderness expedition, which isn't exactly compatible with having a medical condition which requires a medical device that runs on electricity...

You're doing great, you totally have the right attitude for this. Learning portion size is one of the magical things. I have to remind myself to eat..
I have found I sleep better because I no longer snore (at least not loud enough to wake myself up anymore), and no more acid reflux... |
Dan, I know exactly what you're talking about. I mean exactly. Ironically, I almost never used to eat breakfast, except maybe on the weekends, but certainly not on weekdays for the most part. Took me a while to get through everything on the Nutrisystem breakfast because for me it was a lot..
You're doing good guy. Keep it up, it's easy and gets easier. Headaches? I don't know. I'm sure you're already hearing a lot of "drink the water", so I won't throw that in. Or maybe I just did.. For me, it was the spacing that helped. As long as I was following Nutrisystem by eating something every 3 hours max, I didn't feel the urge to stray. But if I missed it, man, I was like where's that burrito and fries. Thankful those days are gone forever.. ... |

Go to W8book.com and follow the directions. Don't worry about the VIP membership expired message. After filling in the stuff, it will give you a section of code that you paste into your Nutrisystem forum signature..
After that, go back in to W8book to update your weights. Most update 1/week, but that's up to you.. A fellow Marinoite sometimes posts the entire step-by-step, but it's all on the Newbie thread if you need further detail.. Good luck!. Gordon.. |

I think I've gotten away without headaches since I've always been a heavy water drinker, it's really all I drink with the occasional diet soft drink or glass of milk. Lord knows how heavy I would have gotten if I was a chronic soft drink drinker.
I'm on my fifth day and I'm down 8.4 lbs., pants feel a little looser, energy levels are there... I am now beginning to feel like an idiot for punishing my body for so long even though I thought I was doing myself a favor by pigging out on my favorite junk foods.. Who has suggestions for getting back in the gym on a workout plan, I'm going to steer away from my weight lifting plan for a few months and just work on my cardio/core but I'm curious as to what was successful for you guys... |
Do not steer away from weight lifting, do everything you can to maintain lean muscle. First off, you burn more calories maintaining muscle than you do fat and secondly you do not want to get rid of your lean muscle. if you are lifting heavy weights you might want to scale down and work on tone rather than bulk..
Personally, I have 2 different workouts I do (alternating daily). Workout 1. 15 minutes of ab work. 5-10 minutes of stretching. 30 minutes of upper body weightlifting (light weights). 30 minutes of running on a treadmill. Workout 2. 15 minutes of ab work. 5-10 minutes of stretching. 30 minutes of lower body weightlifting (light weights). 30 minutes of eliptical trainer. I also try to take a 30 - 45 minute walk everyday.. |
Dan,.
Day 7 will come just as fast as Day 3 and you'll stand on your scale and be convinced that Nutrisystem is the way to go. These guys should have already convinced you that Nutrisystem works.. Start getting yourself mentally psyched that you'll stay on plan on Super Bowl Sunday. That will be everyone's temptation here. But if you lose weight before next week you won't want to put it back on in a day.. Good luck and STICK WITH IT!.. |

"Don't give up, don't ever give up." - Jimmy V.
You can do this... |
You're going to see different schools of thought on this subject. Personally, I think you need to find what works for you and what it is you want to accomplish..
While all of us are here to become healthier and fitter, the bottom line for all of us in starting Nutrisystem was to lose weight. For me, that meant my only goal was to move the scale and I set up my workout regime to accomplish that goal. I did nothing but cardio for six months and I moved the scale in a big way. Following the new year, I have met with the trainer at my gym one day each week for the last three weeks to set up a weight lifting regime and have implemented this training into my workout and have seen very nice results so far. My trainer knows that I was doing strictly cardio for the last six months and while he does not agree completely with it, he is also convinced that the amount of lean body mass I lost was very minimal at best and within one week of strength training he was complimenting my strength gains. After three plus weeks of adding strength training to my cardio, I am completely amazed at the transformation I am seeing.. Here's what I have seen both personally and from paying attention on these boards the last several months:. 1. Cardio only will move the scale and it will move the scale quickly.. 2. Cardio and strength training will move the scale, but at a slower pace.. 3. Strength training alone will slow the scale to a snail's pace.. I don't believe there are any right and wrong answers here. I think you need to do what will work best for you and will accomplish the goals you have set for yourself... |
Well my situation is unique as I have played a lot of football in my day and I have the frame of a big middle linebacker (about 80 lbs overweight) with a lot of muscle on my frame still. I haven't lifted much in the last couple of years but have been able to retain a good amount of muscle mass in my upper body, so I figure why not hit the cardio hard for a bit then get back into my workout routine hardcore when I'm at a more manageable weight...
I had started working with a Trainer before starting NS. I work with him Tues & Thurs, then work on my own M-W-F, taking Sat & Sun off from the workouts. I do 10-15 mins on the treadmill, then 30 mins of various core exercises and weights....
Now on Nutrisystem and with the exercise, I feel better than I have in years! The pounds are coming off slowly, but I am not in a hurry. After a lifetime of diets, I know it is better if it comes off slowly and stays off.. I really find a lot of encouragement from these discussion boards.. Good luck and keep up the good work!.. |
Ccsledge,.
You might be surprised at what lies beneath that fat. I too was a football player in my day and thought that there was still a solid core of muscle under there...and there is not! good luck... |
Another thing to consider in regards to working out, on a Nutrisystem diet, 1500 calories a day is not enough to actually build any muscle. Personally, i've had better success when I've done heavy cardio, along with circuit weight training 3 days a week. When I do my cardio, I generally try to burn 1000-1400 calories per session... Toning up existing muscle will make it more efficient, helping you to burn more calories. Like everyone said, it's a personal preference... Hell, as long as you are exercising consistently, that's the important thing......
