First question I have is PCOS and Insulin Resistant. Should I Start Medifast Diet? Thanks for any response. Another question... Welcome to the home of the SHORTIES all those vertically challenged MFers!. |
Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I got an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could answer your Medifast question..
Favorite Friday? Last night I tried the cauliflower pizza crust. It was really good. Haven't had pizza in almost a year, but I don't really miss it. It was nice to have it just one time, though..
I am so happy to say goodbye to March. I'm ready for a new month and Spring!. The weekend's coming, get a plan!.. |
Mother Nature had the April Fools joke on us today. Remember, I am in Maryland......
I had my weigh in and thought it was an April Fools joke! I was getting a bit frustrated, by small losses, but this week made up for it, 5 lbs gone!!! Guess week three was my lucky week!!!.
I hope everyone has a most wonderful day!! I love that at this point anyway, through eating out, steak, salad and broccoli please, and a huge work potluck, I didn't feel deprived and stayed on plan!!!. I have also gotten down my day to night schedule fairly well. It isn;t real easy, but it is working!!.. |
Hey there! Slowly, but surely, losing. BUT, very cool - I JUST REACHED A "NORMAL" BMI for my height! Yay!..
Yea.
Shortiemetoo. And. Kat. On your April Fools Day success!.. |
Thanks for starting off the new month, Shelly!.
We have one baby eagle for those watching.. Http://www.raptorresource.org/falcon_cams/index.html.. |
Saturday morning. Busy as ever. I've got my bars in my purse and I'm off to see the world...
The eagle cam I've been gushing about was on the Today Show today...
We had the eagle cam on for most of the day yesterday. (went full screen and used it instead of a screensaver) Got to see one of the parents feeding the chick - very cool..
Struggling through transitional snackitisthe inner brat was a winner yesterday. Can't wait till I am completely off MF, I think the combination is getting very hard... |
I have not posted in awhile I have not been feeling so good. I ahve had digestive problems for the past 2 weeks gas, constipation & stomach pains. I was wondering if this is something that goes with the Medifast diet or if I should see my Dr. Has anyone else experienced this?..
Kat I'm happy for you, can't wait for myself to be normal..
Tyke I have had stomache issues off and on, today was bad, but I finally started going to the bathroom. Too bad it wasn't after my weigh-in. .. 15 more days until the end of tax season! yeah!.. |
Tyke - I can't say for certain, but it sounds like it might be Medifast related. If you have a good relationship with your doc (ie, you will get help not hassled for being on MF) you might want to have a chat. I'm one of those "better safe than sorry" people when it comes to doctor visits..
As far as what to do for some help now: I found that taking fish oil and flaxseed twice a day really helps with constipation. So does Smooth Move tea (one small cup does me just fine). Lots of water and walking 3 times a week is also a big help. I added a probiotic to help with the gas, but the OTC brand is only so so. I used to take the medifast probiotic and that was fantastic - no gas at all, but then finances got tight and I decided to find something a little cheaper over the counter. I haven't found something comparable in effectiveness, but I am still looking. Maybe look through the support forums?.. |
Hello super duper shorties!! LOVE the eagle cam, thank you again so much for posting the link!!.
I hope you are all doing well!! We are in the truly windy spring period here in central TX. My daughters dog looks awfully cute when her ear fuzzies blow wild in the wind!! She is cut very short right now, except her tail and ears, which are very long. Her body is perfectly sculptured like a poodle, but her floppy ears are all golden retriever!!. Have a wonderful OP day tomorrow!!.. |
Donna thank you for all your helpful advice. I have tried OTC gas releif without success so I might try the medifast probiotic it will be worth it if it works. I have tried smooth move off & on it doesn't work too well for me but perhaps if I drank it everyday. I have a good Dr and I am sure he would be as pleased as I am that I am losing weight so maybe I will go & talk to him. The last thing I want to do is come off of this diet I am so thrilled I am losing weight. I shopped in my closet yesterday for size 10 & it feels so good to be able to wear them again..
June.. |
Tyke some people have trouble with the bars causing gas and bloating. Don't know how many of them you eat a day, but it's something to consider...
Tyke, like Kerry said, if you're eating two or more bars a day, those kind of issues are known. A lot of people get discomfort from the sweetener used in the bars..
Donna, try rearranging when you eat things. Sometimes that's all it takes to get over the hump... |
In ISO audits with the outside auditor all day today and tomorrow, so I won't be around..
Stay OP and stay strong guys! Hugs!.. |
Can't believe how quiet the board is. Everybody must be busy..
I am making a committment to log everything I eat this week. It is hard to get back into the habit I have let slip the past few weeks. I need to keep myself accountable, especially when I head into transition, which is going to be soon!.. |
Where is everybody? WI has me down 1.5 lb. today! Woo-hoo! I see people complain about 2 or 3 lb. losses and think "They must not be SHORTIES!" Now I only have 2 lb. to lose! I am aiming to be at goal by Easter...
Congratulations!!! Great weigh in!!.
Wghs, sounds like you have a great plan!! Are you at all nervous about transition?. Happy Birthday, darling daughter Rachel!!! I love you more every day!! I am so proud of you. For sticking to your healthy eating and LOSING weight while you were in San Antonio!! You are my ever shining inspiration!!. Hope the rest of you are happy and healthy and have at least a hint of spring!!!.. |
I'm here, working my way through Transition, and I'm learning quite a bit. Added fruit this week and wow. Some days are easy and some days I have the old "I need to loosen my belt at the restaurant" feeling. But I am still losing just a little weight. So far I'm eating just bananas and apples, but there are Asian pears and mangoes sitting on the counter at home that I can't wait to cut up. And smallish pineapples were on sale at the local Henry's for $0.97 - so I got two.
I haven't decided if I want to repeat the fruit week or move on to dairy next week.. Exercise is a blast. Just walking at the moment, but my stamina is way up there. Hubby and I are doing 3-5 miles a few times a week, but I really need to get back to jogging. Walking isn't always intense enough to get my heart rate up where it should be. Never thought I'd say THAT. So glad I stuck with Medifast, because I am in better shape at 51 than I was at 31! Happier, too.. KerryWOOHOO! You will definitely be at goal before Easter, I can just feel it!.. |
Shortiemetoo, you bet I'm nervous about transition. My health coach finally convinced me I have to print out and start reading the materials, so I'm doing that this afternoon. The whole thing still feels unreal at this point...
Shorties.............. Hellloooooooooooooooo...............
Official WI today. 151.8lbs. Have a Great day.. |
You guys sound like you're doing great! Audit is done and we passed, woot! Now I need to reclaim those two lost days of work. Ugh. I feel like I'm never going to get caught up..
Donna. , if you're comfortable with the fruit week, move on when it's over. If you're not sure you have control of your food, stay there. That's really the rule of thumb around when to move on and when not to. Are you still logging your food? If so have you noted if you are eating something similar on the "bloat" days as opposed to the days you don't feel so over full? For instance, I couldn't eat bananas at that stage, I had to wait on them until I was well into the final phase.. Kerry. , congratulations on the loss! Woot! Don't be afraid of transition. There's a lot of us already there to help you. You can't stay on Medifast forever and once you get a good food plan, it's really simple. Glad you're going back to logging. It will help a lot in making transition and maintenance easier.. Happy birthday, Rachel!. Nice to see you,. Mia, Karla. And all the other shorties lurking. Hugs to all need... |
I know I can't stay on 5&1 forever, but it is so simple it is scary to contemplate moving on. I know there are a lot of people on the boards to help out, and I plan to stay around to get the sage advice of those who have gone before!.
Another day plugging away. Tomorrow I leave town on a business trip. Got my bars and puffs all packed for the road. "See" you all on Monday!.. |
Thanks to all who gave me advice on what to do about my digestive problems. I have stopped eating the bars. I have added a probiotic and I am drinking smoothe move tea every night. I got up this morning feeling great no pain for the first time in about 3 weeks..
I had not realised just how much my problems were affecting me.. What I need now is a replacement for the bars when I am on the go. I have some ready shakes but they are expensive. Has anyone tried the pretzels and puffs? Not being a big snacker I have never really eaten much in the way of pretzels etc. I would welcome your feedback on your experience with them before I place my order.. June.. |
June - so glad you have found something to make you feel better. As for Medifast meals - all flavours of the pretzels and puffs are pretty good, I prefer the Honey Mustard and Chili Nacho. There are also the brownies which are tasty but not very filling. Also try making muffins and such out of the oatmeal, pancakes and shakes as something different. That provides variety without having to buy all sorts of different products...
For on the go foods without bars:.
-Chai latte cookies (probably could make a cookie out of any of the shakes. -pancake muffin. -all the pretzels and puffs are great. -brownies.. |
I know you know, just reinforcing it..
It's funny I was scared too until I got here and now I'm still wondering what I was afraid of. Have a safe trip!.. |
Hello fellow superb shorties!!.
MT, great ideas for non bar meals!! I made cream of broccoli bread for the first time today. It was REALLY good and would be very portable also!. June, I have good days and bad days on MF. I think it is the soy, but it was always wprst when I ate the bars also.. Wghs, I hope your business trip goes well!! I can understand the apprehension of transition, but can't wait to get to that phase!!. Mwirth, congratulations on your successful week!!. Morada, you are an inspiration!! Wpo hoo!!. Have a fantastic day!!.. |
Hey, if I can interject...Cream of Broccoli bread? Please share, I have 7 packets of the stuff and I loathe it. thanks ahead of time! Nat..
Just remember, they only last a day or so before they get green and fuzzy unless you can keep them in the frig. Then they last almost a week. The shake/chai cookies I've had last a full week in the frig...
I'm assuming green and fuzzy is not a good thing. I'm intrigued by the broccoli bread as well. Of course I think I finally finished my last box of the soup, so don't know if I'm intrigued enough to order more..
I'm gone for 3 days this weekend, so won't be around at all. I've got my bars and puffs and packets all set to go. Have a great weekend everybody!.. |
Thank you for all the suggestions for bar substitutes. I have not had a bar since Tuesday & I am feeling much better. I will have to check out the recipe site for some of the great sounding recipes you suggest. I am almost at my goal of 135 lbs by April 20th when I go to Florida & I am looking forward to packing for a change I have a lot more choice of clothes to wear..
Kerry, You have done so well almost at your goal you are an inspiration.. June.. |
June, so glad you are feeling better. I have to be careful of bars, too, even non-MF bars that I am trying in Transition. A pro-biotic in the morning usually helps, but not as much lately. Probably because I'm adding fruit this week, and my back is killing me, so my entire system feels off..
Can I make a suggestion for all of us? This is some advice I'm learning the hard way - if you do only one type of exercise, work on your core. I have almost no muscle tone in my abs and upper body and with all the weight I've lost my bones are rearranging themselves and have no muscles to hold them in place. So my middle back (you know, right around the bra strap) hurts most of the day, especially when I'm sitting. Yeah, I'm working on strength exercises, but if I can get you to start NOW, in 5/1, maybe you'll be better off when you hit goal... |
I spoke too soon about feeling better. I took a laxative on Thursday night & woke up with bad stomach pains that have only just gone away. I think I am going to talk to my Dr after all just in case something else is going on. I felt so good when I first started this diet and my daughter is on Medifast & feels great she says all the fiber is keeping her regular. I am over half way to my goal and I really want to make it so I have to find a way to stay on MF..
June.. |
Hello to all! I just started and I am 4' 11". Hope I can join too!! What a great idea, I went back through alot of the old posts from previous months and found it very informative. I am sure I will be on the slow end of losing. That is has been the pattern for me. Look forward to reading all about everyones adventures on MF. Have a great Medifast DAY!!..
Hey Shorties! I hope everyone is having a great April!.
Donna. - I don't know if I said it before, but congrats on making it to GOAL! I am glad you are enjoying your excercising! It is funny, but I actually look forward to my excercise now - who would have ever thunk that?! I am running another 5k tomorrow, and looking forward to it! I hope your back feels better soon, good advice on core work!. MT. - I have seen the Eagle Cam just about everywhere too. Yahoo had a story on it too, pretty cool! Glad ISO Audit went well!. Wow. Kerry. - you are so close to goal - OMG! Hope your travels went well this weekend!. June. - seeing your Dr. is the best idea. I hope whatever it is you feel better soon!. Robin. - April 18 T-9 days.....!. Winniethepooh. - Welcome to the Shorties!. Hello to. Mia. (thanks for our Water Reminder - most important health tip)!,. Shelley. And. Shortiemetoo. !. I have been super busy at work, so havent' been able to visit with you all so much during the week. The biggest update on me is I did schedule my Arm Lift for April 25th! I am very excited. Twice this week I put tops on (I think they were both Mediums), and they were almost too big in the torso, but were snug on the upper arms - just reinforced my decision! I have a lot to do between now and then, mostly at work, so the time will fly by I am sure.. Everyone have a great weekend - 5k tomorrow morning for me, then hopefully a nice enough day I can finally get to the yard and start pulling weeds and pruning!.. |
Hi, 1.2 down this week, very steady. Just need to get through tax season and I can start exercising again!..
Happy Monday morning all!.
Welcome. Winnie. I wish you the best of success!. June. , I'm glad you're going to see your doctor. Sounds like this has been going on a bit too long not to. I hope it turns out to be nothing.. Donna. , great advice for anyone. Our core is our most important part of the body. Even if you did nothing but 20 sit ups a day, it's a help.. Hi. Marble. , hope the run went well.. Robin. , congrats on the nice loss!. Sending fun sized greetings out to all our shorties missing and lurking. Hugs to all in need... |
Hi All, I am feeling much better today. My loss for this week is 2lbs I am more than half way to my goal. I have reached the goal I set myself of 135 lbs before I go to florida on April 20th. For once I am looking forward to packing I have a lot more choices...
Back from my conference. Managed to eat healthy although not always 5&1. Good practice for T&M, I guess..
Donna, I have the same back issues, and I think I'll start working on my core muscles, too. Thanks for the advice.. I'm ready to start a new week!.. |
MT - If I tried to do 20 sit ups at a time, I would barf my brains out. My equilibrium does NOT like doing the up and down floor work at all. I am trying out alternatives to crunches for ab exercises..
As far as my back, the pain/numbness has settled into my left shoulder blade, but it doesn't hurt to touch it and I have absolutely no loss of movement. Weird. I've been searching online for some local holistic chiropractors who do more than crack and go treatments. Found one or two that I am checking out, because all my PC doc would do is prescribe meds that I can't take because of my sensitive stomach. I know, TMI for a Monday morning, but DH has gone to work and I have to complain to someone. Looks like you're it... |
Week one is done! I must say it was not bad at all. Day 2 was a bit tough but made it through. Ended up with a 3 pound loss my first week. That is very good for me cause I usually tend to lose ounces instead of pounds. I am sure next week will slow down but very happy with Medifast. Thanks to the support on these boards. You guys are GREAT!..
Happy Not-a-Monday Shortie Sisters! We're a quiet bunch this week - must be all the gorgeous weather going on. Well, gorgeous at least in my corner of SoCal. DH took today off so we are working in the yard. We have a crape myrtle to plant in the front yard, after we do some small amount of slope reshaping and retaining. Then there is still the backyard square where we want to plant veggies. Every time we had a day to work out there, it rained, etc.
Back is doing a little better and I'm going to give it a few days. DH said it sound just like when he gets back spasms and the only thing that helps that is heat and time. Sigh. (when it comes to pain, I am NOT a patient person). I'm adding dairy this week and discovered last night that I still don't care for non-fat plain yogurt, even with blueberries added. So on to the next brand/type tonight.. Hugs to everyone - Kerry, hope you are zooming to goal and not creeping... |
Morada-.
I'm adding dairy this week and discovered last night that I still don't care for non-fat plain yogurt, even with blueberries added. So on to the next brand/type tonight.. Can we have the fun flavored light "yoplait" yogurts? I agree with plain yogurt is gross even with added fruit.. Happy Tuesday... |
Mia I ended up adding a little DaVinci syrup to my yogurt and it was edible. I don't know if yoplait is on plan, but a strawberry/banana flavor is sitting in my fridge and will be my snack tonight. I also have 3 other brands and I'll let you know if any of the non-fat plain taste better (I'm not very hopeful)...
Morning shorties.
Well third quarter for the kids is over but all three have huge reports due on Friday just before spring break. I will be so happy when I don't have to sit and babysit who does what for which report!. WI today. Lost -.4lbs. Yeah me! Stress did not add any weight to me!. Happy Thursday!.. |
Mia boy, do I hear you about homework stress. Thank goodness 2 of my 4 are out of that phase!.
WI today has me down one pound. Only one pound to go! I can hardly believe it. I have been reading about T&M and am nervous but excited at the same time.. Shout-out to all the SHORTIES!.. |
Kerry- I've dropped my goal twice so I didn't have to deal with T&M. I'm ready now! 6+lbs to go. Congrats on the loss...
Congrats to Kerry for almost there and Mia for the stressful loss! Huzzah!.
(our three girls are in various stages of college and long past our ability to help, but now and then I still stress in their behalf. Once a mom, always a mom). Yogurt update: Last night was a carton of 2% Fage plain. My daughter feels the same as De - can't stand the stuff, but I am in the "like it" category. Fage was much thicker and I think I like that. It is tangy without being sour - I don't do sour and I didn't notice an aftertaste that some yogurts have. I added a teaspoon of WF pancake syrup and it made all the difference. For the accompanying fruit, I sliced an apple and dipped the slices = tasty. Tonight's yogurt is a non-fat Greek style from Lucerne. It looks to be a bit more processed than other brands, so I have my doubts, but we'll see tonight... |
Yoplait is fine. You're counting calories now, so as long as you're in your calorie and food grouping you are good. I personally, can't stand yoplait. I like the fage 2%. Tastes so rich and sinfully good. I cut my apples up into bite size pieces, put in a bowl.
Mix it all up and enjoy! This is my go to energy snack to get over the afternoon slump... |
Donna.
- I love the 2% Fage, just had it for my lunch. I put a splenda in it, sprinkle with Ciinnamon and today put blueberries on it - yummm-o!. Hooray for. Mia and Kerry. - so close!!. Hi. MT. , are you still looking for a new house and trying to sell yours?. Can't recall if I gave you all an update on my latest 5k (ran Sunday, April 10), see below on how I did (I am the one with my head turned....).. |
I finally went to my Dr yesterday & contrary to my fears that he would tell me to quit medifast he says if it is working good he is pleased I am losing the weight. He approves of me taking a probiotic so I have ordered the medifast one he also gave me something to help get me regular again. I have not had any pain today even though I ate one of the bars last night so hopefully I have turned that corner & can concentrate on losing the last 10 to 12lbs. I am feeling enthusiastic again & ready to take on the challenge of my trip to Florida. I am looking forward to it but I want to continue losing..
June.. |
Marble.
, congratulations on the run! You're doing great. Yes still trying to sell the house. Just lowered the price by 10k hope that generates some interest. I haven't even had anyone set foot in the door yet. *sigh*. June. , glad you're feeling better and woohoo for doctor support of MF! Glad you GI system is settling down. I'd stick with one bar a day for the next few weeks. Then, if all is well, add another. That will also give you time to build up some tolerance to the sweetener in them that gives most people issues.. Had mid-year review which was just meh. Mostly because I wasn't totally prepared due to spending all my time on the audit and then catching up on the work lost to it. Boss was understanding though and knew the circumstances. So guess it's all good at the end of the day.. Hugs to all in need!.. |
MT.
- I HATE reviews. I never come off well in them, never.. Marble. - CONGRATS on simply finishing. I'm not back to jogging/running yet, but I would assume your time is pretty good?. June. - glad the doc is giving you support. That is always so wonderful. And I'm glad you went with the Medifast probiotic. I was taking that my first few months and had no problems with 1-2 bars per day. It wasn't until I switched to something cheaper and got lazy about taking it that I started noticing gastric problems... |
Morning all!.
Did everyone have a good week? Been OP? Drinking your water?.. |
Sigh, no. Yesterday was really rough. Don't exactly know why. Back on the wagon today, though. I have to get that one pound gone, for my own sanity!!..
I'm on my dairy week and still losing weight. Not sure why and not sure I should worry about it until I add grain. Sigh. Never thought I'd be concerned about LOSING weight..
Hang in there Kerry! The hardest thing for me to learn/accept is that I will NOT be 100% perfect each and every day. Kind of like getting a slub when spinning thread - one looks kinda cool now and then, as long as the rest is nice and even and smooth... |
Kerry.
, those last pounds take forever to get off. Don't know why but I think it took me 3 weeks to lose my last pound. Then I lost more in transition. Maddening! Hang in there kiddo.. Donna. , I kept losing weight too. As long as you don't think you're dangerously thin and you're not repeating the week I wouldn't worry. I did worry, but it was needless as I stabilized during weeks 3 and 4. Now I watch my weight bounce around between 104 and 108 which is a nice comfy range for me. I still weight every Monday morning before I shower to stay consistent... |
Still here... it's easy to get discouraged looking around the boards seeing others who lose fast, but I'm still here and happy with my success so far. Hope everyone is well..
Today was my weigh & measure day at Curves. My results were not as dramatic as last month but still heading in the right direction. I have had a slow down this month I am .5 over the lowest weight on my ticker but determined to step it up. I leave for Florida on Wed I will be gone 10 days I would like to lose while I am gone but will be happy if I just don't gain. I have my Medifast meals packed already but will have to eat out for my lean & green which could be a problem..
June.. |
I've been a bad girl and I'm not eating enough (was how I gained a lot of my weight before) during the weekends. Now that I'm thinner and healthier I'm just all go. Someone remind me on Fridays to pack bars so I eat during the weekend, please..
You'd think I know better by now... |
The last 6lbs. just don't want to come off! I'm up and down on the scale. My order finally came in so now I have a bigger variety of on the go food...
Mia, try eating at different times, for example L&G at lunch. Or splitting it between Lunch and dinner..
WI I lost 1.8, I can't believe I made it through tax season AND lost 25 pounds. I haven't even exercised the last month, just worked. One of the most stressful busy seasons ever.. Thanks for all of your help. I have been especially interested in the transition, even though I'm 15 pounds away, I'm a planner and like to know what I'm in for. It sounds a bit stressful, I'm glad that I won't get there until the summer when it should be easier... |
I've "lurked" on this group for a couple of weeks so....that it would be a good time to post. Being short (5') weight became a problem as I got older (now 63). Was introduced to Medifast by a local radio personality that was on the Medifast journey (who is also 5'). Did some research and found mayo clinic gave it "the thumbs up". Update: On my WM day (weighin and measurment) yesterday...I had lost another 2 lbs and lost another .5 inch! It was a great day! Clothes are really fitting so much better! Was able to get down on the floor and roll around with the grandchildren yesterday...fun was had by all!.
:-). Cindy (I'm going to try to post my "ticker" xing fingers that it works!).. |
Welcome Cindy and congrats on your journey. (I can't bring myself to congratulate people on their loss, and commenting that their ticker seems to be working just fine, ya know) This is a great list, albeit a little quiet right now. I think spring has finally hit most of us. I don't know about everyone else, but losing weight has made a difference in how I want to spend my spring. I'm cleaning more, gardening more, exercising more and enjoying it ALL! Who knew THAT would happen!..
Robin Thanks I will try that..
Some weekends I've been doing 4/2 so the Dh can make me eggs. He loves to cook them for me.. Have a great evening... |
I had a nice surprise this morning I had dropped to 133.4 just the boost I needed. I am aiming for a mini goal of 130lbs by May 19th when I meet our son's girlfriend for the first time even if I don't make my goal I am feeling a lot better about myself than I did 3 months ago. I have 10 days in florida before then so it will be a challenge. I tried the nacho chili cheese puffs as an alternative to bars when I am on the go & I really like them..
June.. |
Huge NSV: So yesterday, my sister, who is younger, taller, and has always been the "skinny one", called me and out of the blue said "What size skirt do you wear?" Last time she saw me was in November, when I was about halfway through my journey. I hadn't been keeping her apprised of how much weight I've lost, and she may have assumed I was going to stop at that point, I don't know. Anyway, I had to fess up that I wear a 4-6. LONG SILENCE. Then she said, "Oh, good for you. I had a size 12 skirt that is too big for me and thought maybe you'd want it, but then I figured it would be too big for you as well." No, she didn't.
I was planning on just seeing her this summer after I'd been at goal for a month or two, and surprising her, but now she knows. It was kind of funny, the long silence. Huge NSV.. I anticipate goal at my Wednesday WI. Have to admit I'm nervous about getting there. Then I have to face the rest of my life! Yikes!.. |
Slam dunk on sis, Kerry! Great NSV!.
June, congrats on the loss! Nice!. Out of time to dig back through the rest of the posts and catch up. Hugs to all in need. Later!.. |
Way to go Kerry!.
My younger sis, who was always a little "thick" (neither of us were chunky growing up and we're both about 5'3") decided to get in shape about 12 years ago. She has hovered around 120#, while I have been going up and down in weight, maxing out at 197#. But weight has never been something we competed in, we had other things to fill that. As my girls hit the teen years, my sister would bring bags of her cast offs for them. When we saw each other in January, she was thrilled that we ALL wore the same size. There we were at our parents house - me, my sister and my youngest daughter (age 21) all trying on each other's clothes and trading. Me losing weight has actually been a bonding thing for me and my sister and that feels as good as any pair of pants I can now wear.. My daughter, however, is not sure how to handle mom wearing the same size she does, and now weighing less. All her life I have been chunky to fat to obese and it is taking her a while to get used to a thin, fit mom. Well, she'll have a long time to adjust, because I plan on being this size for the rest of my life... |

Donna....congrads on the resolve to stay thin. A strong mind set always will win out!! WhooHoo.

Stopping in to say hi.
On my way to spend the next day or so with my parents. Today is their 59th Wedding Anniversary, and at their age (Mom's 86, Dad's 89) every celebration is to be cherished. I'm cooking an OP dinner, too: turkey meatloaf, baked taters & yams, asparagus and green beans. I'm bringing my yogurt and fruit for dessert and may bake them cookies, don't know yet.. Hugs to everyone. See ya tomorrow night... |
Enjoy your visit, Donna!.
Work computer is giving me a hard time this morning so I have time to drop in and say hi to my fellow fun sized folks... |

Yesterday I went shopping, I needed a dress to wear to a wedding. It felt great, they all looked good. We went out to dinner all was good and I was on plan. Then I decided to order a martini which led to a glass of wine which somehow led to a third drink. Long story short, I feel horrible. Wasting my first real day off since February.
I'm glad I learned now, I have the wedding to go to, a trip to New Orleans and then a trip to Roatan. I just didn't realize, since I started Medifast, I only have had about 3 glasses. Of wine total... |

(sheepishly) - May I come back into the Shorties?.
I've been MIA (as far as posting) for a while - tax season just kicked my hiney all the way to the curb this year - although I've occasionally stopped by to "lurk and read" the boards.. At any rate, I'm back on track now, and am hopeful that I will be able to finish up the last few pounds to goal.. Robin. - congratulations on actually losing weight during tax season!. Donna. - congratulations on reaching goal!. Kerri. - congratulations on reaching goal!. AFM. - I wasn't on plan to a large degree during tax season, and I ended up gaining 1.2 pounds in the 9 weeks. Then, on the Sunday afternoon before the last day, I ate a hamburger, one fried onion ring and about 8 fried French Fries. Boy did I pay for that - by 2 am, I was puking my guts out. And that unsavory status lasted all the way until after I met my last client at the office on Monday morning at 8am. So, by 9am, I was back home, in bed, and slept for nearly the next 24 hours.. Moral of the story for me - don't try eating fried foods - apparently my body can no longer handle the toxins! As my aunt said - "Food always tastes better on the way down that it does on the way back up again." Now, I just need to engrave that into my food DNA!.. |

Patience, sticking to plan, drinking all your water and more and limiting condiments...
Robin, stop drinking alcohol until you're into maintenance. Only smart thing to do...
