First question I got is Medifast Diet Does It Really Work? Looking forward for any comment. 2nd question I got is.. Other topics will be discussed that may not be appropriate for the easily offended.. |
Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you an answer..
Oh, the the tough love wake up blend - it's working!!!!!.
Good morning and thank you so much, Penny! Great coffee. My stomach is off this morning so I'm thinking hot cocoa sounds like a good breakfast.. I have a full day ahead of me - hopefully doing a little mother/daugther shopping in the morning and then an afternoon of cajoling (sp?) dh into buying me stuff. (It's ok, he owes me!). I hope everyone is well this morning!. Melissa.. |
Morning, Melissa! I'm going to play in the bead box while hubby and the little one go tot he Y this morning, then I'll probably head out to do a little (very little) shopping for a couple of things myself. I think we need to make a Sam's Club run for Marc's protein powder and I need to pick up a bag of salad..
And for the record, I STILL don't see any fuzzy little eagle babies... |
Morning Penny and Melissa and anyone who shows up while I'm typing..
I just had a waffle catastrosphe, tried to make the pancake mix into a waffle and it was too thin, outran the edges of my wafflemaker, and made a giant mess. Sigh. I ate the crispy result anyway with about a tbsp of cottage cheese added to make up for all the mix I'd left on the counter. It was actually fine. I'll try again tomorrow with less liquid.. I do not know what to get into today. I haven't made plans for this weekend because my weekends have been so dreadfully full. Now I'm antsy! Ridiculous! Wish I could have slept in but the pets say no to that... |
Good morning, Penny and Melissa!.
I would join you in that cup of tea, Penny, but I have to figure out where the kitchen staff hid the teabags!!! (We have Norovirus going around, so they've got all the edibles under lock and key.). Shift has not been too bad (knocking on wood as I still have two hours left to go) and tonight and Sunday night I work with a dear friend, so all is well there. Have gotten some studying done and all my patients have been sleeping. I love it when my patients sleep.. Have my eye on some new exercise wear for next paycheck... a week from yesterday. Countdown on as we're a bit cash strapped right now!.. |
Mornin' Zoe... sorry about your waffle mess. Sounds like a good idea though... maybe with a little baking powder and less water??..
Morning Penny, Zoe, Ella and Melissa!!.
Sorry about the waffle catastrophe.. I just had to go pick up my Mom (her car is getting new tires), in a bit I need to pick up my oldest he spent the night at a friends, said friend is spending the night here tonight.. My agenda for the day: clean out both bathrooms, including under the sink. And put all the clean clothes away (I am really really bad about leaving the clean clothes in the baskets). I started my period so a nap is also likely in order.. Have a great one everybody.. |
Good Morning TL'ers!! I'm so happy to be HOME SWEET HOME!.
I've missed the last couple of days here, so hard to keep up with all the posts even when I'm home, but when I'm out of town and going night and day it is flat out impossible.. I'm so happy to report that I am down 5.3 pounds over the past nine days. Thursday is my official WI day but as you know I was without a scale all week. I don't think I travel again until the end of June, at which time I will be well under 200! Woo Hoo!. So I dont know what all has been going on with everyone but I do hope all are losing well, staying strong and positive and it just feels good to be home!. Penny - the posts arrived while I was away and I wore them out to dinner with DH last night. They are flat gorgeous. The photos don't do them justice - can't reflect the QUALITY of the material or workmanship. Just lovely. I like something subtly unusual and this was just the ticket. Thank You!. Okay Tough Lovelies, let's have an amazing OP day!.. |
Yep first baby born this morning! Now we should see the other two arrive one every other day or so...
Okay, kinda funny, but that's almost exactly my agenda to make the KIDS do today! (I shall be snoozing). And a little jealous... not even a hint of my period actually starting yet... grrr... I hate these massive hungries right before TOM!..
Hmm. I added baking powder, about a tbsp of egg beaters, and the rest of the water to make it to 2 ounces total liquid. Next time, I need to decrease the water. I'm waiting for the waffle maker to cool down so I can clean it, it was the biggest mess ever. It might have been ok in a deeper, belgian wafflemaker, but I like the standard kind..
But, the roast I slow-cooked overnight is divine, so it all evens out. I'm having steakhouse salad for lunch. Iceberg lettuce and beef. Simple but so good... |
Morning Tough Lovelies!.
I keep forgetting to drink my coffee. It spends way too much time in the microwave.. Enjoy your action packed days today.. I am staying in bed. I'll get up to sit in a chair and read to DH while he does his weekly strength training. Couldn't manage that last weekend while the flu still lingered on.. Zoe, if we weren't already having leftovers from yesterday, I'd make a meal like you're going to enjoy today.. I love it that our L&Gs are so simple and so tasty.. Beth.. |
Good Morning.
Penny, Zoe, Ella and Melissa, Anna, MT, TDK, Ella, Bethie. , and any my sleepy eyes have missed. and to all who come later!. Penny. , gonna have to start calling you Alice, Flo or Vera. Seems you're usually the first one with the coffe almost daily. And we all thank you very much!. Busy day ahead. Off to the lab to get my blood work done (make sure my remission is holding fast and WBC's arent having a multiplying party) But fear not, all is well.. Then TJ's and the regular sludgemarket. Then home to mountain climb. Gonna do both Mt. Laundrypile (speaks for itself) and Mt. Trashmore (what has unfortunately been the rest of the house this week) REALLY need to get into DS's bedroom and go through his clothes and toys that he no longer fits into or uses. That usually turns into a day long project on it's own. Need to do some shopping for that too... |
Good morning Zoe - I have a shih-poo and a cat, so no sleeping in for me either, especially today as I had to run over and take of Sarge (only 4 minutes away so no biggie) and I'm really into feeding the birds - who I fondly refer to as mine, even though they are anything but. So I've just sort sat down to cocoa in a bowl (that's so weird, but I love it). Whatever you do today, enjoy!.
Good morning Anna - the weather here is GORGEOUS after so much ugliness. I am so grateful for my washing machine and dryer - because I actually remember what it was like to drag it to the laundry mat... so glad those days are over!. Hey TK - glad you hear you're doing well. We've had a few animal and bug issues here, but I'm NOT going to go into detail. Suffice to say I think we're all ok now... !. Waiting for dd to get up already - we're traveling a bit just for the h*ll of it - to go to some silly store. I will probably treat her to lunch and I'll just get my green. Dh is working overtime and I plan to spend it when he gets home :-). Waving hello to all that follow - I'll check back in a bit later!. Love to all,. Melissa.. |
Hi Keri and Bethie - sorry I missed you while I was typing!!!!!!.
Melissa.. |
I decided I'm going to go use this 30% off coupon at Kohl's for some summer tops, then go to Lowe's to get paint (color- fresh cotton, a barely off-white) for my tiny spare room, which has been the color of toothpaste since we moved in 3 years ago and causes to have minty claustrophobia..
Have a nice morning TLers see you later today!.. |
Hi Ella - baking powder - that whole idea eludes me - but a lot of things do, so that's not new. I don't have a waffle maker - but if anyone thinks the "pancakes as waffles" is really great, please let me know and I'll get one!!!!! Sounds good... Ok, Zoe, you keep playing with it and let me know when you've got it down pat!..
Awwww aren't you Sweet Melissa... (Now I'll have that song in my head all day!) I always try to get everyone in with my hello's too, but by the time I'm done typing , more Tough Lovelies have arrived. So I always end up inevitably missing someone, though I try hard not too. Plus, I'm still trying to learn everyones, names too..
I need to learn to type faster! LOL.. |
:-) Yes, I was rather brought up on that song, so it's sort of become a part of me. I can be sweet to a fault, but hey, I've decided that's who I am, everyone else can just live with it!!!.
Good morning MT - so happy for your baby chicks... I hope they grow up strong and beautiful, healthy and happy.. Melissa.. |
Good Morning Everyone!.
I don't have a coffee maker at home, and I'm not a fan of fast food/convenience store coffee, so I drove all the way to work to brew some coffee and have my daily coffee/hot cocoa deliciousness in a cup. I get here, start brewing, open the thread and read about Zoe's waffle disaster and thought "DANG...I could have had pancakes this morning!!!". I completely forgot I ordered a box to try. Shoot. And sorry for your disaster Zoe!. I have a little time to make up for this week so I'm going to hang out here at work for an hour or so then go grocery shopping. Day 1 was a complete success and I peeked at the scale this morning for fun and I was down 7.8 lbs...oh yeah! Of course it's all water weight, but it was motivating regardless. I'm going to stay off the scale until next Friday to keep my first week WI a suprise.. Everyone have a great morning...I'll check back in later!.. |
Morning TL's.
Sounds like a busy weekend for everyone. I have to work today. We have a concert for the Fil on Sunday. Monday we have a dumpster coming! Yeah talk about some major spring cleaning!!!! I can't wait! I may actually have a garage again.. Have a great day all... |
Hey.
Debra. ,. Penny. Posted a link in one of our other threads to a "pour over" brewer". They look pretty fantastic, and she said they worked like a charm. I found a different link. Cheap $$$ for home brew.. Http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg. Good Morning,. Mia.. |
LOL Melissa... I used to barkeep in a pub years ago, and there were quyite a few customers who would serenade me with "Carrie Anne", Even though I am Keri Ann and go by "Keri". It was sweet...
Good morning everyone. In time for coffee, but not in time to get Zoe to grade my papers. I really could have planned your day for you! I'd much rather paint a room than grade papers...
Good morning all, Sitting here with my second cup of coffee and trying to get in the mood to paint the bathroom and the bedroom..just can't decide on a color to go with new comforter set that will also flow into the rest of the house....decisions, decisions.... Kinda yucky outside today, gray and rainy (so whats new for Indiana).... Hope ya'll have a great day .....
Morning everyone!.
I had purchased some new flavored coffees for my kurig last week and was so excited to try them this weekend with my hot chocolate (this is my first meal of every day now).. I just use regular coffee at work to mix with it because I don't want to have my first meal until I get there, so today was the first day to try my hot chocolate with the new yummy coffee.. I went to grab my hot choco pack this morning and SCREECH!!!!! I'm all out at home! Booooooo! Hoooooo! So sad today. It's crazy but it really started my day off bad and not feeling satisfied. I have some packets at work, but it's too far to go all the way there. I won't have any tomorrow either, but at least I already know it and can adjust.. I ordered a case of it last week and it will be here Monday at least.. Anyway, enough about that. Time to move on. I already feel better. I think I just needed to get it out.. Have a great OP day everyone!!!!.. |
For those that have been around since this thread started, you know that I weigh in every Friday and report the weight. It is accountability that is SO very important to my maintenance. There are days when my maintenance is very fragile and other days when I am on solid ground. The weekly accountability is huge for me..
Those who have known me for a while also know that I have a tendency to take a scale vacation in the summer as I am on an island in Maine without a scale.. My scaleless time forces me to get real with the plan. Now I know there are people that say if they didn't weigh in every day, they would cheat. But, I am in a no-cheat zone. I have learned after 30 years of yo-yo dieting that cheating doesn't work. It doesn't get me to goal. It doesn't keep me in my size 4/6 jeans and clothes.. Well a friend of mine is going on a scale vacation to get to goal. She only has a few pounds to go. So I've decided to take one with her.. Rather than think about what I can get a way with, I am focusing on my clean eating plan. As long as calories in = calories out, I will not gain weight. It is that simple.. It took me a long time to realize that my self esteem, confidence and whole being was not tied to a number on that (#*^% scale.. So forgive me for not reporting my weight this week. I am trusting in my clean eating plan. I will be honest to myself and not miss that #(*#&*@ scale at all!.. |
I hadn't read through anything until I posted and this made me chuckle..
You get my dissapointment this morning, huh? lol!.. |
Fuzzy, I love the clean eating plan and totally believe in it. As long as you stick to that, you will not gain a single ounce..
Good for you in trusting yourself!.. |
I got these two fantastic dresses at Kohl's. THey are so lovely and just a little snug, which is what I wanted, so I didn't just grow out of them in a couple of weeks..
I have Easter and a wedding coming up in May that these will be perfect for! I'm sooo happy that I like the way I look now. I am going to feel so good in these dresses.. Funny how I'm not worried about staying OP for either of these events, but am still terrified of going on vacation in May and June and not being able to stay OP... |
Good morning TLies.
So much going on this morning.. Sorry to hear about the waffle and coffee disappointments. Not how we like to start our morning. I look forward to my coffee and hot coco every single morning.. Keri - I so need to go through my son's room. He has more toys and stuff than is needed. I usually clean it out in the spring and donate the toys to his daycare. It's spring now, I guess it's time.. Penny - Are you feeling better? Thanks for the morning blend. Hits the spot.. Today's agenda includes yard work, house work and I possibly a little grocery shopping. I think it's supposed to be around 80 today. Good stuff.. I'll check in later... |
Chickie, you can do vacation! The summer I was on 5+1 (and gone for 5 weeks) I preordered lots of bars. I packed them in a couple of shoe boxes. That worked well for me. I had an oatmeal for breakfast, my Medifast meals as snacks, and if I was going to get lunch and dinner, I split my L and G. I spent a few days on 5+1 at an amusement park. That was a little more challenging, but I always found a salad.
Not always the tastiest option, but kept me 100% on plan. I know someone who did a week at Disney on the cold drinks. She just mixed them with her water and never stopped.. You can do this!.. |
I absolutely do!! My morning Medifast mocha latte (as I lovingly refer to it) is probably my favorite meal of the day..
Also, you WILL be able to stay OP on vacation! It's definitely tough, but so worth it. My first time on Medifast I did a weekend at Universal Studios. I'd have my Medifast Mocha Latte for breakfast, bars/pretzals/puffs during the day and we'd stop at a restaurant for L&G. I had a small steak and broccoli for both of my L&G's that weekend... |
Good morning!.
Thanks for the coffee, Penny. I hope you are feeling better this morning.. Weight down another .5 this morning so all the extra water is doing the trick.. DH just came in the room and is yakking at me....gotta go... |
Good morning!.
Sorry to hear about the coffee, hot cocoa, and waffle mishaps.. No time for chopped tofu as I'm running out the door to go supervise the snack bar at the softball fields. I've had breakfast and I'm packing my next 2 meals with me. Some of the snack bar sludge used to be my favorites, but I'm confident I'm not touching it with a 10' pole... well maybe to serve it to others. But I'm not eating anything! In the past I'd be worried about being tempted, but I'm not even worried.. Have a beautiful Saturday and I'll check in this afternoon.. Deidra.. |
I find that the longer I successfully maintain, the fewer checks I need on myself. I'm learning to trust my choices, and to KNOW when I'm off my plan and need a reality check. That's such a valuable lesson, and such a boost to my self esteem! I was such an idiot for so long, but I CAN learn to be a responsible adult and to make responsible choices without having to carry a whip all the time to keep the brat under control...
Good morning to all. I always check in way too late to acknowledge everyone..
Penny, I hope you are getting well.. To all the spring cleaners, have fun with that lol. Its something I really need to do, but like everything else, I'll put if off.. Keri, Good luck on your lab work!. Sorry about the various ruined breakfasts.. Congrats on the loss Talien, have fun shopping Zoe, and yea for the new dresses Ckickie!. Today is day 3 of no smoking. Still doing great. Thanks for all the congrats and good lucks, and you're doing greats, they mean a LOT. Sorry I can't remember who said what, since so many people have said something!. Went to the hairdresser yesterday for a consultation. She said she would have to gradually lighten my hair with highlights over three visits to get it blonde. I went to my aunt's hairdresser for a second opinion. My aunt happened to be there getting her hair done so I was able to just pop in. She said the exact same thing, but told me that my blue eyes and dark hair was my most striking feature and a rare combination. She said what everyone always says. I know it's not the prettiest in the world, but I love my hair long. She said if she could do anything to my hair she would give me a long "Jennifer Aniston" with long layers and a chocolate glaze. Now I doubt that I will do anything to my hair at all, lol!. Also, my weigh in today went well. I lost 2.2 pounds and I'm very happy with that. To those who can put the scale away, good for you! I even took mine on a week long business trip. Ridiculous!.. |
Good morning, Tough Lovelies. I'm up bright and early and I put on some Earl Grey for me and some Tough Love Wake Up blend for everyone else. Cups are in the cabinet...
Zoe - Here's what I did for waffles. Beat up an egg white. Make the pancake as directed on the package with 1/4 water. Fold in 1 spoonful of egg whites. Then cook as usual. This made nice thick and fluffy waffles..
Good morning everyone! Now way my brain is functioning on a level to do shout outs yet.. My day is going to be spent cleaning, hanging out in the back yard, and later this evening, printing backup for work. Exciting, no?. On the upside, I am down another lb. whit puts me at the 10 lb mark. So slow, but I knew it would be. It's going to leave me with a major conundrum soon though, when I can no longer afford the Medifast stuff. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it I guess and just make the most of what I have left.. Hope everyone has a great OP day... |
Hey on the ruined waffles. De swears by the waffles. Puts whipped egg whites in with the mix, I think. Im' sure she'll see your waffle trouble and post her recipe. I don't have a waffle iron. not worth it to me - I'm quite happy with a pancake.
More of a biscuit than a pancake but it sure got the job done.. Off to the groceria for me!.. |
Good morning, all! I have a question that I need to start asking now so I can get feedback for tomorrow!.
I'm going with the French honorary of my college to a showing of Les Misrables, and then to dinner at a French restaurant in Ann Arbor called Caf Felix. Given that I'm still dedicated to the plan, how do you think I should approach the day? We're leaving here at 11AM, and probably won't be back until 11PM.. This is the menu:. Http://dromedary.iqguys.com/cafefeli...-select-salads. I know Freya in particular has a skill with using a restaurant's menu as her own personal cupboard, but I would love to know how that strategy works. What if a restaurant point-blank refuses to do substitutions? Should I just strip down one of the salads (the Norwegian Salmon Salad looks promising, if I take everything away but the salmon and the lettuce)?. I would appreciate all advice so I can form a game plan!. Also, regarding coffee: I just found THE BEST solution to being lazy and not wanting to actually brew coffee in the morning: individual coffee bags. Literally, they're amazing. I just pop one in a mug of water for two minutes, dunk it up and down (per instructions) about 20 times, then I have a hot cup of strong coffee! It's... awesome... |
Claire - After having navigated similar menus all week, here are a few suggestions:.
1) Scottish Salmon Filet and garlic spinach. Ask them to use little or no butter or oil, no sauces, and no risotto.. 2) Pan seared sea scallops with garlic spinach. Little to no oil or butter. (I had this last week and it was great!) Sometimes they'll bring you an extra scallop or two if you ask or if they see you didn't get all the other junk.. 3) Grilled organic chicken with none of the other stuff on that entree - just get some romaine or field greens, as you like.. 4) Or as you said, salmon filet and field greens with none of the other stuff.. Do you have any of the Walden Farms dressing packets? That sure comes in handy. I always have one in my purse. OR, I just ask for olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I use so little of either one, just a tiny drizzle over the greens.. This will be a piece of cake. You can do it!.. |
Penn..thanks for the coffee. I brought pancake for breakfast. Can I borrow the microwave?..
TKD.
(sorry, you're another one I can't figure out the name of) thanks for taking the time to look over the menu and give me some ideas! Out of curiosity... what do you think is the difference between Scottish and Norwegian salmon? :P. Also, I unfortunately don't have any dressings (or anything by WF), so I'll just have to go with vinegar. That's how I've been flavoring my salads anyway, so it's totally fine. Unfortunately, restaurants usually only have balsamic, which is 1 tsp for a condiment, instead of red vinegar, which is 2 TBSP... I'm wondering if they think it's more elegant or something... |
Mama eagle is looking around. So much better than paint drying or corn growing!! She's sweet...
Thanks Fuzzy. I really want to. I'm going in with a plan, so that's more than I've ever done on any other vacation...
Claire, to me Balsamic is worth every carb. It's aged in oak, so it gains in carbs (that's why the amount difference) but who needs more than 1 tsp in a salad? Chatty taught me to have balsamic and splenda or truvia. I love it. I always take my own dressing (even if it's my own balsamic and truvia) in an empty spice jar in my purse...
Is this code for something? lol!.
Or are you just trying to confuse De and the others like they confused you recently... |
Tracey, thanks so much for the nice comments on the earrings! I truly appreciate that. Im so glad you like them!.
Keri, (snapping gum) Kiss mah gree-uts!!! I loved that show! And happy bday to DubahPappa!. Melissa, I listened to you and made a super-pretty pair of the Bowl of Sparkles earrings in copper with multicolor crystals. So shimmery and pretty! I made some other stuff, too, but Im trying to decide what Im keeping and what Im listing! Ill list the BOS and a couple other things shortly.. Still feeling a little ooky. Lots of pressure in my ears and sinuses, especially when I bend.. De, WOO HOO! Doing the ten pound dance for you! Congrats!.. |
Claire - You can't ever go wrong with a chicken ceasar salad dressing on the side no croutons..
Also, caprese is OP and one of my favorite non-meat go to meals. Just ask for the oil and vinegar on the side so you can control the amounts.. You're going to do fine.. Chickie - Yesterday I said I was bored with Mama Eagle and that watching was like watching grass grow or paint dry. lol... |
Oooooooooooooo! I get it now.
Bwahahaha!. Congrats on the 10lbs, btw! Huge accomplishment!.. |
De.
I always forget about caprese salad, I'm glad you mentioned it.. |
One of the little birds hatched and now they're off the air. I sure hope nothing ate it...
Hi everyone! Drive-by post today. My DH leaves for a 3 week business trip tomorrow, so I'm spending as much time with him as possible today....
Must confess, I haven't read previous posts and I just popped in to report my weight today, since Saturday is my official weigh-in day:. I lost 1.5 pounds this week and I'm thrilled to say that I am SO CLOSE to having less than 20 pounds to goal!. I look back at what I've done this past year and I just feel astounded. Medifast has changed my life. Despite the freaking plumbing issues at my house, I'm a happy girl... |
Penny.
, thanks! I got my stuff and even added in that blue lampwork ring!. Hope everyone is okay. I haven't even read all the posts yet. I videotaped the school play last night for the drama teacher and was up way past bedtime and am still dragging a bit... |
Hi all - will catch up later, but I just wanted to say hi to everyone and give my WI update - down 3.2 lbs. woot woot! pedicure tomorrow is officially on my schedule. have a great on plan day everyone and i'll check in later or tomorrow. so happy I found you all..
Xoxoxo. Teri.. |
Thanks for the waffle tips. I decided to spend the morning meandering around clothing stores, trying to find stuff for summer..
I'd been reading a lot of people talking about vanity sizing, but didn't take much stock in it. Right now, my clothing size is a very snug 6 or a very loose 8. Not bad at all, but I'm short enough that I look chunky, plus I carry my weight prominently in my gut & my face.. Anyway, I went to Kohl's and grabbed a skirt and a bunch of capris, all in size 4, hoping to get them for this summer, as my goal weight and where I looks best is a size 4. (I've been smaller, but I look like a waif and frankly, like keeping my T&A) I go in the dressing room, and I find that I can slip every single pair of size "4" over my hips without even unbuttoning. W T F. As that's the smallest size they have in misses, I literally can't buy any of their capris. I tried on misses shirts, all in small, and they hung from me like potato sacks. Then, I went to the juniors section and found tops that fit me snugly, all in large. Then I went to the mall instead of Lowe's, hoping to find some things there. The nearest mall is a tiny little pathetic place, so all I found was a shrug to go over tanks and sundresses (DSO said, what the hell is that for? How do you wear it?. ) and a tight tank to wear under lowcut stuff for work where they've basically outlawed cleavage.. I only need, oh, about 40 more things. Guess I have to venture closer to civilization soon... |
Claire - no idea about the different types of salmon. I don't like salmon, so never learned much about it. I just knew it was OP..
I just had the most marvelous lunch. Don't know if I ever mentioned it but my DH is from Iran and a completely fabulous cook. Since I've been away all week this was my first home cooked meal and OMG it was so delicious. Cornish hen "curry stew" (for lack of a better descriptor) with okra and tomatoes and jalapeno. I-AM-IN-HEAVEN. Sooo satisfying.. Everyone is jumping up and down about my being under 225. Just a couple more pounds and I will have lost 25% of my body weight.. De - CONGRATS on only 10 pounds!!!! WOOO Frickin HOOO!!!!. Penny, I may have a request or two in the future. Hope you get to feeling better SOON!.. |
Just talked it over with DH and we decided I an at Goal. I was planning to be at goal for my b-day later this month. Today would have been my Dad's 93rd birthday, but he died in Dec. I've been wising all the dead family members Happy Birthday all day! I wonder if they celebrate the day you arrive in heaven. No time and distance have no meaning there..
Anyway. I am at goal for me. I do not want to be a gaunt old woman. I'll wear my 6s and 8s and enjoy my life.. Being my age, I've already had to give up so many things. DH said that when he saw a Chilis advertisement on TV, the food looked like it tasted good, but would only be a stomach ache for him. I have been a vegetarian several times, kept kosher, and done a myriad other things to improve my health over the years.. When I was younger (30s), 135 was way to skinny for me. Since I am bedridden, I want to keep a little more weight than that to help my bones at least. I used to be off the charts for bone strength. I walked a LOT.. I was also thinking about why I have basically stalled myself here for the past month. I am physically comfortable, but more than that was the shock I got from one PM that had me questioning everything. I had really looked up to this veteran, but I can't anymore. I appreciate her words of wisdom.. I guess it's taken me this long to pick myself up off the mat. I am not an addict. I never was. Never will be. Food is not my enemy. Food is not some monster out of Ghostbusters that will suck me in as soon as I stop being hyper-vigilant.. I'm still going to be around here, checking in. I plan to continue charting everything I eat and drink. It is sensible to keep good records.. It's not about the food anyway.. You are the first to know.. I'm going to call my sister right now. See how things are in Seattle.. I am not leaving. I just will be reading more than writing.. I love you all and thank you for all your support and encouragement. You will continue to be greatly appreciated during each and every day ahead.. Beth.. |
Well, then CONGRATS, Beth on GOAL!!!!! Yayyy!!!!.
Tracey I love Middle Eastern food and your meal sounded delicious! I am starting to feel a little better, thank you. And feel free to send me your ideas! I have been known to do some special orders, especially for my Tough Lovelies!. I hoped to have a little time to get back into the bead box, but we just got back from Sam's Club (which was a madhouse) and I'll need to hop in the shower shortly. Oh, heck, I might just do a quick ring..... |

BETH.
Congrats on making. GOAL. !!!!!. Penny. Glad you're feeling a bit better! Hope your time out tonight is fun... |
Beth - congrats on goal!!!!!!.
Congrats to all the big losers - I love the weekends around here when all the WIs get posted. You guys rock.. I've weighed 133 the last 3 days, 132 the day before that. Holding steady, right where I want to be, almost 6 weeks from goal. Yay!!!.. |
A quick fly by - I have to go work on the City Hall network (sigh). I had a great NSV today - I was swimming in size 22 jeans so I purchased size 18 misses to lose into... They fit! They're snug - but I can wear them. DH says they look good - woo hoo! Thank you Medifast and to all of you tough lovelies for the motivation and encouragement..
I'll try to check in later.... By the way - congratulations Beth on reaching goal - yahoo!.. |
Penny, my sisters and I L-O-V-E turtles. Do you have any turtle design ideas?..

OK, I can finally post chopped tofu to each and every single one of you. Look how big our group has gotten:.
Melissa. - hope your shopping went well. What the heck is cocoa in a bowl?. Ella. - good luck on the continued studying and I could eat my shoes during PMS, so I commiserate.. Anna. - I understand being exhausted during TOM, hope you rest well.. Tkd. - Wow on the weight loss! And I love curry, I'm hungry just thinking about it.. Beth. - Congrats on making goal!. Keri. - I giggled at mountain climbing. I've got a Mt. Laundrypile here myself, but I've decided I do not care.. De. - thanks for reminding me about the waffle trick and hurray on making it to 10 pounds.. Debra. - 7.8 pounds isn't ALL water.. Mia. - I am jealous of your dumpster, I've been filling up my old beater pickup (that I love) with trash for a dump run soon. My DSO has filled the garage floor-to-ceiling with crap in just 3 short years.. Fuzzy. - I'd rather grade papers than paint! And I'm wishing I could summer in Maine. Maybe someday.. Junebug. - I decided against even buying paint today, hope your choice looks perfect.. Chickie. - Oh no, running out of the Medifast stuff you enjoy is frustrating. But at least your shopping went well!. Cheri. - Hope you managed to get a lot done.. Talien. - glad your stall seems to have ended at last.. Deidra. - I missed telling you the other day how great it is to hear you got un-layed off.. Corbie. - I also missed telling you to have fun on the house hunt.. Kris. - I think layers look amazing cut into long hair. If you get long layers and you hate them, you can always even it back out. I say go for it. And congrats on the loss. And. Not being a chimney.. Claire. - Almond milk might be something you can order if it is the kind that is in a shelf-stable pack and not refrigerated. Also, I've ordered salad with the dressing on the side and just eaten around whatever was off plan.. Slw. - Oak adding carbs, who knew? weird.. Penny. - Glad you are feeling better and you survived a warehouse store on the weekend. (Shudder). Pittie. - You're so close to goal you could poke it with a stick!. Carolyn. - wake up!!. Freya. - You're definitely going to get to join the 5% club.. Renee. - new pants are always a really rewarding NSV. Awesome.. Whew.. Edit: Dammit, I missed. Connor. Hi Connor!.. |

I want to hug whomever recommended the Trader Joe's chili lime chicken burgers. I made chicken lettuce cups like PF Chang's offers: I cooked the burgers, chopped them up and added 1/2 c. of chopped tomatoes and a little tobasco sauce, and then used my lettuce as lettuce cups. Best L & G ever!..
Zoe, you are the queen of all tofu chopped. Wow..
Connor, in my old bead stuff, I have ONE ceramic turtle bead. I absolutely cannot believe that someone may be interested in me creating something from it! It could potentially become a ring or a pendant. PM me and we'll brainstorm.. I'm off to get ready for date night. Looking at a Caesar salad (no croutons, cheese), dressing on the side, with seared Ahi tuna.... YUM!.. |
Well, I always just pop in, talk about my day like a spoiled little brat, and pop out, so it was more than time for extended shout outs...
Hi? All I get is HI?!!! Don't you know who I am??? Just kidding. Hi! Amazing that you actually could do individual callouts. I could never do that because I can't remember anything but the last post I read..
2 lb. loss this week. I weighed on my parents' scale, which is one of those actual, honest-to-goodness "doctor" scales with the weights and stuff. I was a little worried that it would read "245!" or something and I'd realize that my own home scale was horribly, horribly off. But, amazingly, no. It should a 2 lb loss and I'm taking it! Yay!.. |
Afternoon Tough Lovelies!.
All this eagle talk going on - I was driving up to get some lamb for dinner and saw a bald eagle nest w/babies up on top of the power poles that cross the lake. Pretty awesome! We have several around here and really enjoy watching them dive for fish in the summer.. Congrats to all the losses and goal making!. I've been really busy lately so haven't had time to check in but see that everyone is staying OP and checking in with the group.. Going to go get those lamb chops ready for some munching!.. |
Cudos to you Zoe! I seldom have that much energy!.
Connor - Hi!. Beth - Congrats on making goal! WOOT!. Penny - Have fun with your date tonight.. Sassy - CLCB is what I'm having again for dinner tonight, although I may just take your idea. Those lettuce cups sound AWESOME!!!. It's a Sludge-fest at my house right now and I love it! hehe. My skinny boy is suffering horribly by my not bringing the sludge into the house anymore so I'm baking for him. I love baking. Just makes me happy. I'll put some in a zip lock bag for him to add to his sludge cache (he has to hide it from his dad LOL) and then either send the rest to his GF, or take to work and unload on Monday... |
Beth, I'm happy for you that you are at GOAL!!! Big accomplishment!.
Zoe, thank you for the hair advice! Now I am thinking about making my hair darker lol. I've been obsessed all day. I just want to do SOMETHING with it. And good job on all the shout outs! That must have taken forever!. Sassy, your lean and green sounds delicious!.. |
Hey again, everyone..
Beth. , congrats on goal.. And congrats to everyone who lost weight. And to. Freya. For maintaining, what is it, 6 weeks?. I'm on the quiet side today. Just don't have much to say. Doing fine, OP, just nonchatty. Hope everyone's Saturday is going swimmingly... |
Thanks, Zoe! 6 weeks is a long way from a year for the 5% club, but I like my sparkle pants. If I get fat, I can't wear my sparkle pants. I am *motivated*..
Connor, we can't all be rock stars. But we can play them on the internets by being foul-mouthed brats. So we've got that part nailed... |
Hi all...just checking in and catching up on posts..
Congrats to you goal makers/goal keepers/big losers! My short term memory is abysmal, so I apologize that I can't congratulate you all by name.. I went to the store and picked up all my L&G items for the next two weeks. Lots of shrimp, lean steaks, chicken, salad, asparagus, cauliflower etc. I'm going to keep my Medifast meals and L&G meals very simple this time around (unless I get horribly bored). I've played around with recipes and what-not before and I have a hard time gauging what recipes are 100% OP and which ones are not when you start messing with a lot of different proteins, veggies and condiments in one meal.. I had pancakes for lunch today with a little WF syrup...I was very pleased!! The pancake consistency was a LITTLE off (not as fluffy as I would like) but I still enjoyed it. After all this talk of waffles, I'm considering picking up a waffle maker! I've always wanted one anyways.. Well, I doubt I'll be back tonight so I hope you ladies have a wonderful evening. My husband is working all weekend so once he gets home from work we spend as much time together as possible.. P.S. I think I can taste KETOSIS coming!. It's very faint...but it's definitely there!.. |

Hi Again TL'ers!.
Just reporting in that I did 40 mins at the Y near my home this afternoon. Felt SO good! They have the Arc Trainer and I did that for the first 10 mins, then went to the elliptical for 30. Even did sprints five times (one minute FAST, one minute regular speed - which for me is about 120 strides per minute).. I've decided they need to put an elliptical in a soundproof booth so I can just sing my heart out to the music on my iphone. Believe me, no one would ever want to hear me sing. But man I could really belt it out when I get going on the elliptical and the music is right. My favorite workout list is the 2009 Grammy Nominees with a few other songs thrown in for good measure. Gets my heart pumping every time.. Pittie - You were remarking on how amazed you are at your progress and I have to say I am too. Your success is truly inspirational. Lots of success on this board but not everyone starts so close to the 300's. A few of us know that pain. You have to feel completely reborn. I know I do, and I've only lost about 70 lbs so far.. Debra (Kittyran) - Are you new to the TL'ers or a rerun? I was out of town all last week and did check in but I know I missed a lot. Either way, it seems like you're new to me so Welcome. It looks like you've come a VERY long way! Congratulations. And special congrats for jumping back on the path.. I guess I'll do a laundry switch and go see a friend. Beautful day here. Stoopid to sit inside!. Huggles.. |
Good afternoon TLies.
Beth - Congrats on goal!. Penny - Have fun this evening.. Zoe - You are the queen of shout outs. We are not worthy.. I am having a dark chocolate shake nice and iced up in the ninja. With 1/2 cup of cinnamon coffee left over from this morning. Oh. Em. Gee... Yum. Have a great afternoon and evening. The DH and I are going out to dinner tonight. Don't know where. Maybe Market Broiler. Yum. They have the best salmon and veggies... |
Hey TLovelies! Just a fly-by check in. Congrats to all our losers!! I am down 1 pound for the week. I won't lie - it's a little disappointing to work so hard and see a whopping one pound loss. But I have to remind myself that it's 1 pound in the right direction!.
I also know I was super high on sodium yesterday because I added a boullion cube to my soup then I had pre-cooked lean over a salad with dressing - all with tons of sodium. I had my 64 oz of water, but could have used double that or more with all the sodium. It's never affected me much before, but apparently it is now. And guess what I discovered today? The 99% fat free chicken breasts I buy from Costco have almost 300mg of sodium per serving! They inject a "solution" of water and kosher salt. WHY???? When you figure that after cooking I'm probably eating what they consider 2 servings or more, that's an awful lot of added sodium. I'm going to try to find a better alternative because I just don't need that much sodium added to meat.. We went to see my new niece today. She is precious (of course!) and my sweet 10 YO son said "she's beautiful with her eyes open." I thought that was awesome of him to say because he really could care less about babies, especially. Girl. Babies.. Have a good Saturday evening!!.. |

Hi, everyone! Flying by here with a quick WWYD question:.
Today, I had an extra big salad when we went out to dinner. Just overdid it. All OP options, but without the scale there I'm quite sure the portions were too big. I had been working in the yard most of the day and was very hungry...I'm guessing I overdid it by a full extra green portion, maybe a ounce of extra lean in the form of egg whites. Logged it all, including the non-fat dressing (shouldn't have gone there!) and logged it in high amounts to be certain to cover it all. I've come out smack dab hitting my nutritional goals for the day (820 calories, 85 carbs, 97 g of protein, all vitamins and sodium in target ranges) BEFORE my last Medifast meal. Should have been paying more attention.. So...to remain on MY version of OP as a shortie, should I skip the last Medifast meal? Or, should I go ahead and eat it considering my exercise even if it will take me out of MY personal range (though still totally OP) for the day? If you are interested, if I eat the last Medifast meal, I'll be around 97 carbs (if my guesstimating was right!) and 930 calories for the day. Inquiring minds want to know... Oh, and weigh in is tomorrow, if that makes a difference to you!. The scale just hit a healthy BMI exactly this morning...sure would be nice if it stayed there! Drinking water today like it's going out of style!. Oh, and feel free to go ahead and slap me for going overboard on the salad...I deserve it! My only consolation is that my sludge dream from last night was actually just a dream when I woke up! I was horrified in the dream to think I'd have to tell you guys what I "dream-ate!".. |
Ella: Har, har!.
By the way, I had an NSV today:. For. Les Mis. Tomorrow, I was told that we need to dress nicely. However, I didn't have any dress pants that fit me (or so I thought... I bet you can tell what's coming), and I was really annoyed because I really don't like spending a whole day in dresses. Anyway... so I was digging through my box of stuff that doesn't fit or I don't like, and I found a pair of pants that I had discarded at the beginning of the year because they were too small. I tried them on... And they look goood... |
I'll do my best! I'll be tempted to avoid that last meal, though, so make me tell you later that I actually did it!..
By the way... I feel really stupid now. Half-and-half can be a healthy fat, and not just a condiment! I think I need to study the list of healthy fats more earnestly, because that's DEFINITELY an area in which I'm failing to be 100%. I.
Always. Forget about healthy fats. So... I guess on days when I have poultry or fish, my coffee will be livened up quite a bit!.. |
Good Morning TL (well, my morning- close to good night for some.
Just read through the posts - I never even thought of mixing the hot cocoa with my coffee...I have a box that they sent me that has been taking up space in the cupboard. My pot is brewing right now. Mmmm....liqiud sunshine.. Today was a split sleep day for me because the hubby is at work and the kids can't fend for themselves all day. We ended up at the mall for lunch (total panic mode for a second) After I wiped my drool from the chinese food counter - it was a Subway salad for me! Disaster avoided.. Have a fabulous rest of the day - Megg.. |
Claire, if you skip your healthy fats you can LOSE YOUR GALL BLADDER. Don't do it. The diet is designed very carefully and it's finely balanced...
Wha? Lose my gall bladder? That sounds really bad... Dear Lord. I'm picturing all kinds of disgusting things happening in my intestines. Hold on, gall bladder, I'm going to send some half-and-half down there to save you!..
Not gonna lie, the image of a small container of creamer rappelling down to my gall bladder (wherever it is) is embedded in my brain... much to my amusement...
