Got a question... Is the "Medifast Diet" a good diet and does it really work? Thanks for any answer or 2. Another quick question... I am heading towards the end of my 3rd week on MF. 1st week = 10lbs. 2nd week = 2lbs. |

Yup, although you might wanna make sure and wait for another person to confirm it as I am not very confident. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the Medifast guys because they can answer you better...

I have to say in the few weeks I think your weight loss is great. Take it from someone who only loses the average of 1-2 lbs per week, I think to myself I want them to be larger, but had I been on another plan those weight losses would be even smaller and so it's not always about the number but the success of being on plan...

I understand your frustrations - I have had them too, for most of this diet. I wish I were one of the people for whom the program just easily melts off the pounds. Alas, it has never been the case for me. I lose more slowly than others, and have to exercise more just to get anything to drop. I have gone 4 weeks in a row being perfectly OP and not seen a loss. Still, I have worked with my doctor to determine the reason for my resistance and through perseverance, have managed to lose a fair chunk of weight..
The best thing you can do is acknowledge your jealousy, and then let it go, and choose to focus on your health and success in a non-competitive way. At the end of the day, that is all that matters - it is not how fast you cross the finish line, but that you do cross it... |

I think we all feel that way. I would give almost anything to be one of those 5 lb a week people. But more often than not I lose 1-2.5 lbs. I can't complain about that. Not really. But I can still envy those with large losses.
It is in my nature.. I would agree that your exercise program sounds intense for this plan. If I were you I would CALL Nutrition Support Monday or Tuesday. Discuss with them your particulars and see if they think an alteration to the plan might be advisable. Some times they recommend a 4&2 or something similar.. I think 12 lbs in two weeks is AWESOME though. I am envious of you! LOL.. |

Just wanting to echo Pawp1 and Emma....I also am starting really big and think I can trigger the starvation hoarding instinct really easily, either by eating too close to the bottom end of the recommended calorie range (800 as opposed to 1000 cal), or by exercising more vigorously than I've been accustomed to doing before mf..
One week when I lost only 1 pound I went kind of crazy and cut and pasted a couple of dozen weight loss "charts" from the bottom of people's posts into a folder on my desktop. Looking them all over, I saw that MOST people have many (sometimes most) weeks when they lose only 1 to 2 pounds. when I get into a competitive froth I read that over to calm myself!. Years ago I worked for a long term treatment program for serious alcoholics and drug addicts. I don't know about you, but I think of myself as someone who eats compulsively at times (like most of my life?!). When I am impatient to lose more rapidly (like every day, at some point. ), I think of what the director of the program (himself in recovery) used to say: "each of us who earned our place here ought to have a t-shirt. One one side it would say "MORE!", and on the other side it would say "NOW!".. I used to feel that way about food....now I sometimes feel that way about weight loss!!!. Hang in there and don't give up. it gets better. if we stay OP we will lose weight, just on our bodies' time line, not our impatient little minds' demands (well, speaking about MY mind!). - Ria.. |

Boy do I hear you! Often times, those negative thoughts creep into my thinking such as: If I am so heavy...shouldn't I be losing at a faster rate? Am I not eating/drinking/moving enough? Am I eating too much/moving too little? Is there something wrong with me? Everyone else is losing weight faster... lol.
Its so hard to keep what is most important to long term weight loss and a healthier self in mind. Its actually simple...stick to the plan and it will come off. Now, to make sure you are sticking to plan, utilize the tools that Medifast has supplied, for example the food log will tell you if you are exceeding carbs, calories or not eating enough.. I find that when I am having these negative thoughts (I call them negative as they could potentially sabotage the progress I have made so far) that I have to repeat my mantra..."slow, steady and consistent. I am moving toward my goal, a healthy life.". Hang in there.. |
