Got a question, hope someone can answer... Is milk allowed in the Medifast Diet phase 1 or not? Thanks in advance for any answer or 2. Another question I got... Other topics will be discussed that may not be appropriate for the easily offended.. |
Ye, although you might wanna make sure and wait for another person here to confirm this as I am not completely sure. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the Medifast guys because they can give you an answer better...
Going to Pok Pok tonight. So excited. DD and I are having dinner...
Pok Pok is a very cool restaurant in Portland. I've wanted to go there for a long time...
Ha!! It could be, but no..daughter and I go out to eat quite often. Is it you who gets taken out to dinner more than you'd like?..
Yes... hubby likes to go out every Friday and Saturday... Since starting Medifast I hate going out so often... It's easy to stay OP while I'm out but sometimes I just prefer being at home... The problem is I hate to cook so hubby needs to go out.... lol..
And he hates veggies.... Cindy.. |
Lol.. He looks at my turnips and spag squash and says you really can't like that... his side dish is sludge.. what he thinks is a veg is a high carb side dish....
Cindy.. |
So funny. We love our turnips. I do love dd because she likes weird veggies as much as I do...
I wonder if we will EVER like sludge again. It goes so against the grain..ha..sludge grain...
Before starting Medifast I was a total binge eater.. I don't think I could eat sludge I'm too afraid it would put me in a downward spiral... I just wish it would make my skin crawl when I see it or smell it....
I quit smoking 16 years ago... I know I will never smoke again... I wish sludge had the same affect on me as cigarettes do... Even that word makes me sick... Cindy.. |
So true. Yes, it would be more helpful if it made our skin crawl...
I almost missed this thread somehow..
Thanks for the coffee smell. Good Morning Cindy and Susan. I like to eat out but every weekend both nights would be too much for me too.. Looks dreary here again today but I thought it was due to be in the early 80s and sunny. not sure what's up today. I have so much I should be doing, I realized I only have 56 days until I move... |
Cali, I am the worst mover in the world. My friends go out of town when I move. I pick up a stack of plates and set them in the car. Then I drive over to the new place. Then I go back for forks. Be happy I am not able to help you move...
Anna.
- good morning...56 days... yikes I hate moving.... Next time I move I'm having moving company pack my things. Did that when my company relocated me... It's the only way to move. Elliptical I done!!!!. Where is everyone this morning? Guess - they are sleeping in on this dreary day. Cindy.. |
Good morning, Cindy, Susan, and Anna!.
We had a complete tooth fairy crisis last night. DD lost a tooth yesterday. She had 2 friends sleeping over and they were on an air mattress on her bedroom floor. It takes up the entire floor. I tried to get DD to leave her tooth on her dresser since her room was so crowded. All three girls looked at me like I was crazy and said, "It has to be under her pillow!" Well, there's no way in hell the tooth fiary was going to be able to get her tooth from under her pillow without stepping on the air mattress and/or a friend and without waking someone. The note said, "I was unable to get your tooth since your room was so crowded. Please leave it under your pillow again tomorrow night and I'll come back to get it. Love, the TF". I was in a bit of a panic because in 10 years, the TF, Easter Bunny, and Santa have never disappointed... well... there was that one Christmas many years ago with the Dora kitchen... Ugh!. Anywhooooo... Hello and good morning to everyone posting as I type and still to come today!.. |
Good morning!!! Hey Cindy, thanks for the French Roast, it's starting to kick in!.
Hi Sue - Geez, I hope you're asleep now - it's like 5am over there isn't it?. And both of you will fall over from shock. I have NEVER eatena turnip. I don't really know what they are. I may have to venture out, but I'm not ready yet!!!! Why do you like them? Please explain!!!!!. Hi Anna - 56 days, wow - that'll just fly by! Dh and I will never sell this house because we would be horrible at moving. I think we both get sick just thinking about it, so it won't happen unless it absolutely has to.. Well dd's now 27! She got her first present this morning, a pair of earrings to match the outfit she's wearing today - along with a little gift certificate to Sephora. She and her bf are getting together for a stroll through the mall, so I thought this would be fun for her. The family will get together tonight and take her to dinner at the Chart House. Should be nice.. Cindy, I hear you on the poison sludge. I've tried hard to make sludge poison for me, but it hasn't happened yet. Too much comfort, or perhaps even happiness, associated with it. Now I try and see it for the deceiving crap it really is. I see it as the book 'The Secret Is Out' portrays this sh*t - addictive on. Purpose. To make the industry money. So anger more than disgust, along with doing really well on Medifast has made this journey possible. And on that note I have to go pick up Birthday sludge that I used to adore. But I know it won't help me get into the next smaller size jeans... so it's a no go!!!! :-). Waving happy Saturday to all I missed and all to follow!!!!!. Melissa.. |
P.S. Anna- I love moving (and painting)! I'm weird like that. I think it's the touch of OCD in me..
Everything is so completed organized when you are finished. I can have an entire house packed, moved, all cupboards & shelves lined, and unpacked in 4 days... |
GOOD MORNING DEIDRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
That's my really bad imitation of being awake!!! I'm so glad at least the tooth fairy tried to come through! These things mean so much to the little ones!!!!. Melissa.. |
Fortunately or unfortunately, I was like an army brat. My father worked over seas for the govenment, but not military... so I moved every few years. Living with my dh has been the longest I've ever been anywhere... 15 years... and I'm not going anywhere unless I have to!!!!! :-) But I do like to re-decorate every year or so!!!.
Ok, I'm off to sludge store.. Melissa.. |
Melissa.
- Happy birthday to your dd... I haven't been to the chart house in years I hpe she has a good time... Deidra. - lol leaving a note from the tooth fairy... I would have never done that.... Cindy.. |
Anna.
- Maybe you should just hire deidra to move you... I wish I could be that organized.... Cindy.. |
The military will pay for real movers who will pack and move for me thankfully.. but I have to:.
1. arrange to have my Mom's car shipped. 2. Get my house clean enough to put up for rent. 3. Hire a property manager. 4. Sell my van. 5. need to get rid of a bunch new house is not nearly as big as this one.. 6. Buy plane tickets. 7. Paint. 8. Get new carpeting installed. 9. Make sure I have all medical records/school records etc.. 10. make sure my dh gets our car registered. 11. make sure he turns on the utilities in Cali. 12. change over my car insurance. 13. get a home warranty. Knitty. Our tooth fairy started leaving teeth b/c she could never find them. she also is often a night late. Also I have OCD but it does not involve being organized or clean.. Melissa. That sounds like a great bday.. |
Okay, me too. I've never eaten a turnip. It sounds like you all love some turnip fries. Could someone please explain how to make them? I've made fries out of other veggies, so I could probably figure it out on my own, but I'm a complete turnip virgin. Any easy suggestions?.
Poison sludge- I watched this documentary on anorexia a few years ago. In it one of the girls explained that when she sees food cooking, especially sludge, she gets completely grossed out and can't eat. Seeing butter melting in a pan makes her want to throw up. I remember thinking, "Okay, anorexia is a horrible disease and I'd rather be fat than be anorexic and having my organs fail, etc... BUT... I wouldn't mind a little bit of her issue. I think I'm getting closer though. Since starting MF, I do get a little grossed out when I see people eating really high fat sludge when I imagine what it's doing to that person's ateries... |
I have never had a turnip as an adult but know I hated them on the rare occassions they were made for me as a child...
I get grossed out when I see people eating sludge.. I'm just not grossed out by sludge... Maybe I should never be left alone...lol.
As for turnips... just started eating them... just make sure you don't buy the waxed ones, those are rutabagas and not OP... the 2 ways I eat them are: Peel cut and boil them like mashed potatoes.. or peel and slice them bake at 375 turning frequently so they don't burn and get crispy... I use a little salt and yummmmmmm. Cindy.. |
Holy Carp....
Everybody isn't sleeping in this morning girls, they're just trying to focus their eye's to read the 4 pages of posts you have already thrown out there!. Morning morning morning my Lovelies! Thanks, Cin, for the coffee... |
As for sludgy thoughts, and being grossed out by people eating sludge etc. I've actually been holding out pretty strong. I really don't know what kind of eater I am. I think I am the triathalon of eaters, I would graze the kitchen if I was bored, if the sweet tooth was upon me, I would indulge, and holy eff...I love to cook, and enjoy sinfully rich and savory foods, the more carbs the better...
Don't get me wrong... I'm not totally OCD, but I'm a very organized person. Here's a picture of part of my garage and you can see what I mean..
I love doing puzzles. I try to do one every time I'm on vacation from work. So, I bought a new puzzle and had finished the whole thing, but I was missing a piece. I looked all over and scoured the carpet. A couple of days later I found the piece up against the leg of the table. I posted on FB about finding it because I was so excited. Also, I took someone's advice and got an organizer for my MF. Love it!.. |
Shoot I really need to wake up more before I post. I hit post reply before I'm done..
So I am wondering if any of you have experienced what I have been experiencing lately. I started noticing at work, and it has grown to public places etc. Please note...I am not judging, but I have become... I guess more keenly aware is a good way to put it, of the high number of folks (men and women both) who are not just overweight, or obese, but my guess would be morbidly obese. I don't think I ever really paid that much attention to it before... |
I actually have the same set up for my food.
.. My garage will never look anything like yours though!.. |
I have the same set up for my Medifast food too! LOL, and the garage, for the most part belongs to DH..
Deidra. , I think you need to come meet my DH, and spend an afternoon with him in his garage, he would LOVE someone to help him achieve his boxed and labeled dream garage. He would probably want to divorce me and marry you if he saw you gargae pics! ! LOL.. |
Wow,.
Deidra. ! You are organized! Prior to kiddos, I tried to be that organized. I did okay until the last two kids, then gave up for a while. I'm back to it now, a bit at a time. However, everything I organize still gets unpacked and messed up by the twins, et.al., so I probably won't really see that side of me again until they are older. I used to mega-coupon shop and you would not believe my extra pantry! I had a big closet under the stairs that I converted to a pantry and I had floor to ceiling sludge and dry goods! It, and my freezer/extra fridge were a thing of beauty. This was back about 6 years ago, before the twins started really rocking and rolling. So, you'll have to trust me on the fact that we'd be two peas in a pod if we got together!. This morning I was .5 lbs from the official 50 lbs lost mark! So close! Working today on color-washing the powder bath we tore out and re-did, then taking hordes of munchkins to an indoor fun park for a birthday party this afternoon. Hoping that the hard work drops me that .5 overnight!. My parents are coming up from TX on Tuesday and to honestly say an even 50 had been lost would just make me smile! Of course, I know I'll get there soon but since it's going to also drop me into a new "decade," how cool to wake up to that on Easter morning!. Enjoying just thinking about Easter Sunday today. I love celebrating the Resurrection with my family and church family! Best day of the year in my book. Have prepared well for the big meal, too...am smoking a turkey breast and a beef brisket today, got cauli to replace the mashed sludge my kids will be eating and have blocked my mind to all sludge that comes in plastic eggs by thinking about that new decade!. Hugs and happy Easter thoughts all around! Back to color-washing for a while but will wave again when I take a break... |

Good Morning Tough Lovlies!.
I feel like a ghost, pooping out of the ether.. I weighed myself this Am and I am a solid 142. Since I declared goal at 145, I'm not surprised. I just eat what I've been eating. I am aiming to eat half of my food everyday as vegetables, per a recommendation from Crobie/Steph. I'll just see where this takes me.. Went to my Gynie appointment this week and told the nurse all about Medifast and to check out the site. Hope she does. At my 6 month mammogram last week, the tech wanted "details" so I shared.. DH brought home my birthday dinner from a our favorite restaurant last night. He used the birthday coupon for his dessert. He enjoyed it. I made myself a cup of decaf with real cream and sugar later (1/2tsp= few grains of sugar) and enjoyed my bar with coffee when I was ready later. I ate the shrimp and scallops, my salad and some p*888. So I was curious to weigh in this AM.. I have never weighed myself regularly, except out of curiousity once I saw Medifast is more automatic: follow the rules and you lose weight.. I've been doing Colette Baron-Reid's course through hayhouse.com on Weight Loss for people who Feel too much, that is we take on the feelings of others and must distinguish our own and let the rest go.. There are 600 people from all around the world taking this 5 week course. It's been gut-wrenching, difficult, but extremely rewarding. We have meditation exercise to do and we cannot weigh ourselves or watch TV. We eat, or they eat, I just follow MF. 3 meals+2snacks a day. very loose. Many of these members have been beating themselves up their entire life. The first two weeks consisted of "dumping" all the baggage of a lifetime on the forums. Grueling.. So, my Tough Lovelies there are all kinds of ways to tackle this. I find the whole process fascinating. I feel like I learned to connect to the world outside my bedroom window here with your all. Now, I'm learning better manners. No tough love there at all. There is one young woman who has been riding my back. She's young and not as smart as she thinks she is. She'll learn.. Good luck on your move, Anna. Are your two handsome young men excited to become surfers? You and DH must be such proud parents. Keep up the great work in all areas.. I specifically wanted to thank you for having your Mom as part of your family. Thank you.. As a retired housewife I would have loved that role with all my heart.. Take care of yourselves, Tough Lovelies.. Beth.. |
Good morning lovelies!.
Deidre, LOVE your organization! You are my hero.. Susan, Pok Pok is an awesome restaurant. I went there for my bday a few years ago.. Keri, yep, I am the same way. My eyes are opened, partly because I'm trying to figure out what I want to look like and what a healthy weight actually looks like! Not a judgement, but just noticing... |
Hi.
Bethie. Wow. I hope you find some peace through this process. I was a total wreck until I turned 50 and became an EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) practitioner. I'm also a deeply entrenched Course in Miracles student and have been since 1991.. Now. , with the benefit of hindsight, I can say the process is fascinating. But could not do that in the thick of the forrest without sunshine coming in anywhere. I was very bleak, but optimistic. I always knew somehow, that there was a way out ... I just needed to keep searching. I continue to help others with EFT when requested, and will always be a Course student. I even find Medifast a much easier project to handle given the lack of other emotions over-riding my need to lose weight. I am so very proud of you for doing what you need to do. Never an easy journey, but you are making a huge difference in your life as well as in others. That's just fabulous!. Good morning KERI!!!! Dh had to run over to his sister's and do some taping and spackling - so I was up early (6am) when I should have been fast asleep. I think we're one weekend away from being done. Give the wee beastie a kiss for me, Ok?. Jennifer - I love being organized - but it only happens twice a year - I usually change over the clothes Spring and Fall, so that's when I get super organized - and then I mess it all up - I don't even have twins to blame! My FM food is very organized in my home office closet - we put in a shelving unit and it's really perfect.. Ok, so birthday sludge has been purchased, along with the "2" and "7" candles. Now waiting for birthday roses to be delivered. Dd got up early to get her hair done so it's just me, my little sweetie-pie Gigi and my cat precious... and time for a maple pancake-cake... YUM!!!.. |
Oh, for Pete's sake!! REALLY!!! 41 posts??!!.
You are all far to perky and active for a Saturday morning!!!. Since there's no way to catch up, I'll just start fres for now and read later.. WI today down 1 lb and have entered a new decade! YAY me! hehe. While I realize that my 1 lbs losses may not seem like much, for me it's about double what I lost the first time around, so I'm a way happy camper.. Looks to be a bit overcast this morning, so and going to try and finish getting the weeds out of the remainder of the back yard. FYI - I have NO intentions of another manic day with no food. hehe. I do have a lot to do today, but I'm not planning on pushing myself to the limits of last week.. So, off to take advantage of the lovely temps outside. Smooches, no chopped tofu, and I'll check in in a bit... |
Morning all! soggy day here and so dreary I'm just had some coffee and went back to bed with a book. Thinking of staying there all day...
Tl'ers 5 pages of posts and I just realized I got todays date wrong... smack me!!!.
Bethie. - wow I don't think I could do that, but it sounds like it's working for you.. Best of luck!!. I think I am going to get out for a bit... library and supermarket...then back home it's such an ugly day here.... Cindy.. |
Happy Saturday girlies!!!.
Add me to the list of TLers who have never had a turnip. Well as an adult. I'm sure I had one as a child and blocked it from my memory.. Deidra. - Loved your tooth fairy story. My little one lost two teeth in a one month time period. The first one he swallowed. Yup. Swallowed. We never even saw it. Put the note under his pillow. It worked. Whew. Second tooth we made a point of taking it out of his mouth before he ate it... lol. Good morning. Susan, Melissa, Cindy, Anna, Beth, Sassy, Keri, Jennifer, et al.. Don't know what's all on the schedule for today. We will be coloring eggs for sure. The little one is already asking me to boil the eggs. I'll get right on that. My DH asked if we could make easter eggs out of egg beaters of Medifast scrambled eggs. Interesting proposition, but no... |
Mt.
- sounds like a perfect day to me!!. De. - good morning... Hope you get your yard work done before the rain starts... total washout here. Cindy.. |
Yes, it's pouring here too. NOT FUN. I'm totally jealous.
De. !!!! I got an azalea for Easter and I should have planted it yesterday while I had the chance! Not happening today, that's for sure!. Birthday roses have arrived and I put them in her room. I think I'll take MT's lead and go find a nice book and curl up in bed!!!! Thanks. MT. !. Love to all,. Melissa.. |
Good morning! I've been keeping up with reading all the posts daily, but haven't had anything to share..
Thank you for the kind thoughts about FIL's passing. It has been a difficult few weeks for DH.. De, you described my MIL to a 't'. Mine must be a twin to yours (and fuzzy's, too). Makes life interesting, to say the least. Thankfully I am not letting my MIL's poisonous personality and mean comments hurt me. It took a lot of years, tears and heartache to get to this point, but am so thankful that I found that it was her that had the big problem, not all my fault.. DH just came into the room and sat, time for me to shut this machine down.. Happy Easter weekend to all... |
Talien:.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your FIL. Focusing on your husband and not your MIL's antics will be much appreciated by your hubby. I also have a poisonous MIL but like you said, once you realize it's her problem and not yours life becomes easier. I found keeping a distance has strengthened our relationship. It has taken 17 years for us to get to the point where she is loving towards me. Although I embrace the moment, I know better. Everybody:. Here's a question for you. Please give me an honest answer. Why do we self-sabotage? When I get to a certain point, I ruin my progress. Why does this happen? I know I deserve to be thin, happy and healthy. Why am I stuck?.. |
Good morning all, I just read through, but my day is already too crazy for shoutouts. (Except a congrats on.
De. 's loss!). Already, I burnt my morning waffle to a black crisp and still haven't gotten it all out of the wafflemaker, and then found that every single thing in the fridge, from soda to cottage cheese, is frozen solid. That happens to this fridge when the freezer gets packed too full of stuff against the back vents and no matter how many times I make a point of it, it still happens. Sigh.. If it warms up, I'm going out this afternoon to watch some friends play baseball, then back home for easter sludgemaking. I still have that nagging feeling I'm forgetting something... |
Lynne.
- It's a vicious cycle... For me it's mental.... I just remind myself that it's not worth it... Anytime I have fallen off in the past it took months to get back on track and I always gained back what I lost and then some... With Medifast it's been different.. I have a new mind set... I hope you figure out what makes you sabotage your success... don't look at this as just a weight loss program... It's life altering and we will be working this forever.... Cindy.. |
Lyn, what are you scared of? What scares you and prevents you from getting to goal?..
Drive by hello - no chopped tofu yet..
WI today - down 2.2 sitting right at 230. woot!. 21lbs in 6 weeks! I'll check in during vivian's nap time. off to get her and the dog tired.. Have a good on plan day everyone.. Xo - teri.. |
Cindy and Sassy.
: I'm not sure what I'm scared of. It's weird because I was thin my whole life and people would tease me about being underweight. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. It's definitely going to be a lifelong process. I know once I get back to being a healthy weight I'll be happier. What's upsetting is I'll see some real progress and it will make me happy and then next thing I know I'm going to Subway ordering food. Maybe if I get thin I'm afraid people will make fun of me again... |
Good morning, everyone. I'm definitely not going to be able to catch up now! I have a ton of chores to do and I need to eat my Medifast meal, so I'm going to get going on my day!.
Congratulations to those who have lost, and the story about the tooth fairy makes me laugh! (Sorry I can't be more specific with my chopped tofu I really am doing a drive-by post. Love you all!).. |
Cindy - I don't think rain is in the forecast, but I seldom watch the news so I'm not really sure. Trust me, I would WELCOME the rain with open arms and probably play in it to boot! Forgot the sprinklers didn't come on early this morning and the weeds are NOT playing nice! My garden, however, is growing gangbusters. Most of the stuff that's coming up is not OP now, but will be by time I harvest. I'll take a pic later..
Lynnsie - There is a big difference between being at a nice, reasonable healthy weight and being skinny/scrawny. Like you, throughout my teen years until I had my first son, I was 10-15 lbs underweight for my height, but it wasn't so bad that people made fun of me. What you need to focus on is being HEALTHY. There is nothing healthy about being over weight. Focus on small goals and quit worrying about the end. Take this journey one day at a time, and stick with us. If not us, talk to SOMEONE. Stop thinking about being thin. Think about being healthy. Ultimately, that's why we're all really here. You have to stop worrying about what other people think.. The only important thing in the world is what YOU think of yourself. If YOU are happy with how you look it will show in the confidence in your step and the way you carry yourself... |
Melissa, I hope your daughters birthday is spectacular! Enjoy your day!.
Deidra, I love how you got around the Tooth Fairy fiasco! In true Tough Lovely style! I also have the same setup for my Medifast meals!. Keri, it's not just you. I am almost ashamed to say I look at some with disdain thinking there is no excuse. I know better than too judge and I realize that I dont know whats going on in their lives or with their health, but when I see someone riding around in the store in one of those motorized scooters, theyd better have crutches bungeed to that thing, or an oxygen tank. If it's just because theyre fat, Im gonna think a negative thought or two. I dont even watch Biggest Loser with the same enthusiasm. I used to feel so sorry for someone who had let themselves balloon to 400 pounds just from eating. Sad but true.. Ive put together a couple of baubles this morning and Ive also walked Emma through making her own bracelet! A real one with a clasp and everything! Now Im running some numbers for a piece of commissioned work I am doing as well as getting ready to dye the eggs I didnt dye last night!. Congratulations, De! You must be so thrilled this time around! NEW DECADE DANCE!!!. Beth, youre so strong. Youre my rockstar hero.. Lynnsie, it's great to see you in here again! I wish I had an easy answer for you. There is a huge amount of intelligence in the Tough Lovely house, so Im sure many will chime in. Hang tough, girly.. That is the closest thing to chopped tofu coming out of this Tough Lovely today! Ill be back a little later!.. |
Just popping in to say hi quickly!.
Lots of good things today- it's my birthday, my Dad's cat is doing soooo much better, I weighed myself and I'm another pound closer to goal, and got complements from everyone at work today! They usually see me in shapeless shrubs but I went in with regular clothes to do blood work on my Dad's cat. Best birthday presents ever!. I'll catch up and do shout outs later!. Tara.. |
Hi everybody!.
Haven't posted (or read) all week because of basement renovations. I miss you all!. Today is my weigh day:. I only lost .5 this week, but I am ok with that. I have had a very physically demanding week which required lots of ladder climbing (painting in my basement) and heavy lifting, etc. I probably should have done 4&2 this week, but I didn't. In any case, I'm happy with my half a pound. It's better than being "epic fat" when trying to renovate my basement! Yikes. I couldn't even imagine trying to get through this week at 275.5 pounds!. Weird thing happened yesterday. My DH, DS, and I went to lunch at a cafe on the way to Atlanta. The chef came out and shared a curiosity about my changes to what his menu said. I told him I was on a special diet, so I usually ask for some things to be "held" and I always provide my own salad dressing. He asked if I was allergic to gluten or something. Of course I said no...just trying to lose weight.. After he left, DS told me that I probably don't realize why he asked me the questions and looked at me a little sideways. He said, "Mom, it is different now because you don't LOOK like you need to lose weight so the first thing that entered his mind was that you have some other reason for a special diet, not that you might be on a "weight loss" journey.". Wow. He's so right! Even though I still have 18 pounds to goal, I will actually reach the healthy weight BMI level when I lose 9 more pounds. I guess I never realized that at 9 pounds overweight, I don't look "fat" to people! So many of my friends have told me how fantastic I look, but my brain still tells me that people see a "fat girl" who should be trying to lose weight.. It was so weird when that realization hit me yesterday.. Oh...and yes, (I don't remember who mentioned noticing grossly obese people everywhere) I think I didn't notice them before either...but now I seem to constantly notice people who need Medifast and I wish I could help them... |
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Birthday! (My we have a lot of spring babies in the TL Board...).
LOL. Tara. , Shapeless shrubs? Must be awkward with all those pooches around? LOL. Some of the best and non intended comedy comes from typos and small unfiltered children. I Love it!. Glad your Dad's kitty is better.. |
Pittie (sorry if I just didn't catch your name), that is an AWESOME NSV! I will be excited to be just 9 pounds overweight. You've worked so hard, and it's totally paying off!.
I have to laugh at "shapeless shrubs," too... |
ROFL. I was thinking how uncomfortable and itchy she must be!.
Happy birthday Tara!!!!. Pittie - What a great NSV!!!! Feels great, doesn't it?. Penny - How did you sleep last night?. As done with the weeding as I am going to get today. Looks much better, although there's still a lot of stuff to do. Project for tomorrow is to work on the front. Should be much easier, as DH sprayed all the weeds a while back, so they're all dead, just making my yard look trashy. He keeps shuffling out wanting to help, so I told him to find stuff he can do INSIDE the house. Yes, that's right. Getting ready to go grocery shopping. Need to go get in my second meal before we go... |
Laundry done!.
Food shopping done!. House is clean!!. Starting a new book... looking forward to do nothing.... Cindy.. |
Happy Birthday to you.
Tara. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too funny on the shrubs!!! Hope your day is wonderful!. Oh and. De. Congrats on the loss - I don't care how liitle or how much anyone loses, to me, it's all FABULOUS!!!!! That much closer to goal! Good job my dear.. Hi. Cheri, Talien and Zoe. !!!!!. Hey. Teri. ! Great job on the 2.2 loss - That's SO great.. Hi. Claire. ! Thanks for the fly-by!. WAY TO GO on the wonderful NSV,. Pittiekisses. !!!!! That's got to feel great.. Hi. Penny. ! You sound busy ;-) hehehehe... as long as you're having fun!. Dh should be home in about an hour. It's STILL raining (enough already!) And I don't know what to wear tonight. Can't outshine the bd girl, so I'll probably wear black pants and a black top that has pink and red roses on it. Maybe. It's supposed to rain tomorrow as well, which has really put a damper in my Easter bonnet. Oh well. Just because I haven't worn a skirt in at least 5 years... Yep, this will be the first one. Kind of appropriate!.. |
Oh boy..
Thanks goodness Dh is home. I had an "incident" with the shredding /slicing disc/blade for my food processor. Holy smokes...blade went swiftly through the end of my thumb including going through the nail like it was a hot knife through butter.... DRAT. I hate not having the full use of all my digits... |
Keri, you ok? Do you need stiches???? OMG - who has the bandaids????.
Melissa.. |

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Tara!.
Hello everyone - Happy Saturday. Although it's raining here and cold out - still not at work so that's a great day! haha. I loved the tooth fairy story - so dang cute. My DS will be 21 next month. I was going to get him an Easter Basket with sugar free sludge that he likes and some do dads but, the store was packed so I didn't. Then DH laughed saying...we just took a NRA course your son wants a gun not some cute basket. Errrrr HAHAHA I cracked up after that one. I told him I could get him a cute wittle stuffed bunny wabbit for target practice heh heh Oh well no baskets this year unless I get out there later on today.. De - weeding....BLECK. I love pretty gardens but, I don't have a green thumb for the life of me. DH is the gardener in the family. He usually plants wild flowers and picks them to give to me when they bloom and a small veggie garden for us.. Penny - sounds like fun sharing your craft with your DD. I always wanted to take classes, I've bought supplies and made simple things but, nothing as fancy and pretty as you've been making.. SLW - did you even go to bed? zoiks Last night was pretty funny. Hmm that's about how far back I can go on the posts. Gotta hit the laundry so I'll have something to wear tonight. Anyone else stuck in between sizes? How frustrating. My jeans fall down yet the next size is snug. Suppose I need to keep trying to find some but, hate spending the money on them when things are changing...shrinking...shifting whateva.. |
Nah. Calm Cool Collected DH "butterflied" my thumb up nicely. I just cannot believe how quick that bugger slid through my thumb. This one will take a bit to heal. I'm not really sure if they'd even be able to put a stitch there... It sliced down through the nail into the nail bed....
I'm Pizzed at myself mostly. I was trying to rush around and get things together to make a stupid OP cauliflower pizza crust... |
Miss Keri!.
Now don't go frightening me again like that, do you hear? Now there, I've given it a big fat kiss, it's all better now... or at least it will be soon. I. Almost. Fainted at the sight of it, I tell you!. Please, let's not do that again, shall we?. Ok, now that I'm breathing again.... Melissa.. |
Sherry - Not weeding my garden, weeding my LAWN!!! UGH! Second weekend in a row, but the majority is done now. Have to leave something for the tortoises to eat until the grass comes back. hehe..
Grocery shopping - Done.. All I need to do now is run to Target for a couple of things and put gas in the car and I'm thinking some quality book time will be in order.. Keri - Been there done that a few times with my mandolin! You and I are a lot alike. Just throw a butterfly on it and get on with life!. Off to Taget, then home for lunch. Decided that since (according to the daily plate) 90 minutes of weeding burns 779 calories. I'll be doing a 4&2 today and picked up some tilapia for lunch... |
Keri, that is absolutely frightening. I'm glad your DH was able to fix you up, but geez! Be more careful around sharp objects, willya?.
FACT: The stupid iced tea fiasco definitely kicked me out of ketosis. Right after I drank it, I felt super-ill, and today (what I guess would be "day 2" after the event) I have feelings of malaise, headache and irritability. Sounds familiar, from February 8! I'm still mad at myself for not checking the label... |
Wow..I take a nap and you guys go all chatty..
I loved the toothfairy story. Our toothfairy was named Lila. I can't remember why she was named or why Lila, but when jess was old enough to know I was really Lila (she told me she knew WAY before she admitted to knowing), she decided the toothfairy went to live in the computer hard drive. So..we started calling our old Macintosh "Lila".. That garage is so pretty. I want it... |
Big shout out to all the losses today!!! De that is awesome that you are having a more efficient Medifast journey this time...
Keri.
, that cut sounds horrible. Ouch and ouch again. We'd better keep you far away from a mandoline..they are crafty finger slicers.. Claire. , bummer about the tea... |
Keri.
- I have sympathy pain for you.. my thumb is killing me.. fell better. Cindy.. |
Weeding the lawn? You mean...like on your hands and knees weeding? How about getting one of those whirly gig things that shoots the weed and feed out of it. I let DH do that stuff hahaha. Oh my to me dandylions are color heh heh. Just teasin' but, ya know...shhhh...I love taking those little suckers and blowin all those parachute things around. FLY BE FREE!.
Don't tell DH!.. |
Keri - All I can picture is the time I did that with my grater OWWWW..
My stewpid garbage co just sent me a notice that my service was giong to cut off b/c I didn't pay my bill. Um, I found my bill about a day after it was due before I LEFT for California and paid them over the phone, they sent me a notice to tell me they were taking the money (they never did take the money, but that is not my problem) So I just had to pay them 25 extra so my darn garbage gets picked up Tuesday..
I see a nasty phone call in my future, when I call with the original n ote that says I paid!.. |
Well, bending over and weeding anyway. We have 2 desert tortoises that come with the house we rent. They have lived here for so many years, this has become their natural habitat and it would actually be illegal to move them. We can't use chemicals on the lawn because we're afraid it will make them sick, so, we have to do it the old fashioned way. DH is no help as he still has some issues with bending over..
Claire - Sorry hon. Lesson learned, right?.. |
Sorry to get you in a dither, Melissa! I'll be fine, but if you're passing out "Magic Mamma Kisses" for booboo's I'll take one! LOL Every little bit of healing power helps! Here, on a funny note, when my DS5 and DN4 (Darling Niece) were younger than they are now, they weren't called "Bandaid's in our houses...They were BooBoo-daids. I think my Niece coined that one...
Until the next time I get overconfident in my grocery-shopping abilities and don't check the label. :P Hopefully that won't happen...
OMFSM, Keri! I can't stop grimacing just thinking about that! Yikes!.
Sherry, I keep meaning to tell you that YES I can totally do nickel-free! I have several components that are nickel-free and some of my wire is also nickel-free (the aluminum and the copper). Stainless is available, but I don't have any on hand. I will be ordering some, though, as nickel allergies are pretty common. If you see something on my site that you like, let me know and I can put something non-allergenic together for you!. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TARA!. Getting ready to go out and grab some salad and some asparagus for tomorrow. Eggs are all dyed - I'll never buy the packaged dye again! Food coloring and vinegar makes beautiful pastel-colored eggs. For free... |
Good morning my lovelies! I was soooooo exhausted yesterday, and had taken myself to my bathtub for the night. So of course, when I got an email at 6:30 telling me "screw tired, come out to dinner with us," I showered and got my butt out to dinner. Then a bar, then a hot tub party, then finally dragged myself back home a little before 3. What can I say but "oops"?.
Today there's a big event called Bunnarchy. Basically a giant pub crawl with a lot of people dressed up as bunnies. It goes all day. I don't have much of a costume, but I do have a cute pink outfit and some ears, so that'll have to be all good. I'll put on a bunny nose with black eyeliner. Then there's another party tonight.. At some point I wanted to get organized, but I'm feeling like it might not be today!. Hope everyone's having a lovely springtimey Saturday!!!.. |
I have been hanging out in my sky chair reading. What a fab day it is today. Thermometer says 80, but there's a wonderfully cool breeze and it feels more like 70. THIS is how a weekend should be spent!..
Beautiful day here in Portland too. My phone says it's 67 degrees, but I think it's in the 70s somewhere. So so nice. We'll be eating outside at Pok Pok..
I love saying the name of that restaurant... |
Rain finally stopped and the sun is out.. Nothing like taking a 2 hour nap to help get thru the day!!!.
Sue. - Have fun at pok pok. Cindy.. |
It's nice here, too, FINALLY! Been loving the breeze I have my window and curtains to let in the wind and the chirping of the birds while I work on my thesis defense materials...
It is a gorgeous day here in NC today too. I sat out and talked far too long on the phone twice..
It's not bad weather here, either - not too warm (around 50) but nice enough to grill a bunch of chicken breasteses. Without wearing a jacket..
De, I totally forgot to answer you earlier because I was so freaked out by Keri's gruesome injury. I actually was awakened by a couple of nasty, twitchy cramps and it totally cheezed me off. I'd done my stretches before bed, too. I was on my feet a lot yesterday, running around... don't know if there's a connection or not.. I picked up a giant bunch of asparagus for tomorrow. Asparagus pee for everybody! Woo hoo! Pork tenderloin and asparagus for me, and some healthy carbs for Marc and Emma... |
Penny - Speaking from someone with fibro - I think you being on your feet more than usual probably played a big part is last night's cramps. It's hard on your body when you carry around even a healthy weight with any kind of back or leg injury. Try to remember that. I know it's not always easy to do, but we will always pay the price when we don't...
OK, ladies, I'm ready for bed and it is only 7:30! It is official...I hate color washing ceilings! The walls are not so bad...in fact, they look pretty darn good...but the ceiling was a bugger. It is the downstairs powder bath. I was going for an old, plastered French country look in sort of a gray-green over stained bead board on the bottom half of the wall. Looks pretty but my neck is killing me from craning upwards! Can't wait for it to dry so I can pull all the paper off the bead board and see the final effect! Then, it's on to DH installing all the pretty bronze hardware and old-fashioned potty and sink I picked out...yeah! And to think, it only took us a year to finish!.
Penny. , I'm sorry you still had cramps last night. If you are up with them again tonight, check the board! I may be here nursing a sore neck!. Surely all this painting and chasing of grumpy children is worth a 1/2 lb loss tonight, don't ya think?.. |
Keri,.
Oh my goodness! How scary and painful! Can't believe you didn't completely freak. Take good care of that finger for a while and watch for infection. (Mommy hat off now.... ).. |
I'll keep my fingers crossed for that 1/2 lb Jennifer..
What a relaxing day this has been. DH colored the eggs while I was working on getting dinner in the oven. He hasn't been home to do that or even for Easter in probably 10 years! The joys of retail! After diner, going back outside to finish my book, then get started on some sides for dinner tomorrow... |
Good morning tl'ers.
Big Pot of DD french Roast is on!!!!. Couldn't sleep this morning... and it would have been the perfect day to sleep in.. Raining out, son slept at a friend's house and no work..... Oh well, guess I'll spend my morning with you guys... hope someone wakes up soon!!!!. Cindy.. |
Easter bunny has assembled the baskets... still has to hide eggs but needs to wait for 8 year old to be asleep first...
I also need to wait for a certain "little someone" to hit the sack before I bring out the Easter goodies. Not THAT kind of goodies! Instead of a big basket full of sludge, she's getting three oversized plastic eggs with a little bit of sludge, some books, a DS game, a Wii game, a video and a purple fuzzy blanket! She is looking forward to leaving some orange root veggies out for EB. Marc will eat those - except for the half one we'll leave on the plate. Good thing the cat doesn't like them!.
I listed some cute bracelets, if anyone would like to check them out. I will have some more stuff tomorrow if I get a few minutes to list them.. De, thanks for the sage advice. It made perfect sense that all the walking, standing, driving, etc. were to blame. Today has been busy, but not as much time on my feet. I think a flexeril may be in order as insurance, though.. Two meals left again tonight! I think I'll go make a peach oatmeal... my cat loves the smell! LOL!.. |
