Quick question... How to substitute vegetable juice cocktail and ricotta cheese on Medifast Diet? Thanks for any response. Another question I got... I'm wondering if anyone has noticed a change in body odor since they started MF. I have noticed that, since I started, my unscented antipersperant is no longer doing it's deodorizing job. And I hate the scented ones (way too strong and perfumey). |

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you help..

All I can say is that Medifast changes your body chemistry because all foods can have that effect. Making an effort to move around more and work out has a lot to do with it, too. Just like the "shake breath" aka Ketosis bad breath, this is just something we have to deal with. The "prescription" strength stuff is pretty good, and they even make unscented versions.....

So glad I asked! I feel better. And I think I might try those new prescription strength ones that have recently become over the counter. Thanks!..

I am so happy that someone brought this up! I have been on Medifast for 5 months and I didn't start noticing this until about month 4. I apply deodorant at least 2-3 times a day now. Before Medifast, I never even really needed it most of the time. It seems like the longer I am OP, the more side effects start popping up. In the last month I have started noticing an incredible increase in hair loss as well..
It's nothing I can't deal with though; being healthy is worth those few temporary inconveniences... |

Glad I did a search for this. I am only on my second week, but I am the funk monster. Even after washing my underarms I can still smell a strong body odor. I guess I need to try stronger deodorant. Today I put on hubby's to see if that helped. Bonus is, I smell like a delicious man!.
I figured it was something to do with the diet. I have not had the breath issues yet, waiting for that!.. |

I tried Secret Clinical Strength for Sensitive Skin today and no stink at the end of the day! Very happy as this has no perfumey smell, either. It's expensive, but if it works, it's worth it. The real test will be my tennis lesson on Saturday. If there is no stink after that, then it's a definite keeper...

Yes, I have experienced this as well LOL. And I am one that never had any problems with "dirty smell" as I shower two to three times a day!!..

The body releases ketones in the urine, sweat & saliva/breath when in ketosis. I've never noticed an underarm odor but BOY, my urine can be very smelly and strong! LOL..
Amber, try taking Biotin tablets for hair loss. I don't know if it helped me or not frankly, but many people swear by it. It's a B vitamin & thought to help with the hair loss that sometimes comes along with rapid weight loss. All mine DID grow back by the way....so no worries... |
|
Yup!!.
Had to change my deodorant because the old one just wasn't working anymore and I shower twice a day.. Three times on days that I work out... |

A lightbulb just went off....I have been on this plan for six months and this thread just hit me....ding ding ding....so that's my problem! Geez la weez.....that makes sense. I have been trying and buying deoderants every time I go to the store. I am going to try the Secret Clinical Strength next!..

I did have this in the initial weeks of starting MF. It resolved on it's own in three days..thank goodness! I used the listerine breath strips to help. You could also try drinking plenty of water, gum/sf mints (count as condiments) or mint leaves. None of those things help much but they do make it a little more tolerable...

Ha! I searched this topic to see if some beat me to it. I thought I was the only one. I am having the same experience, but I found that works even with the mildest deodorant and just wanted to pass along my secret. Get Stridex pads ( I use maximum strength) and once you get out the shower, take one pad and wipe across each arm pit a several times and let dry and apply your regular deodorant and voila no odor!! My theory is when you sweat, the odor that comes from your sweat is actually bacteria and Stridex is a bacteria killer so once you apply the Stridex it kills the bacteria in your sweat leaving no odor.( Sorry science major). Also Stridex is good for softening callused feet. Stridex should pay me.....

Interesting I just noticed this, my deoderant was working just fine, but I noticed odor a couple of days ago, when I hadn't been hot or stressed or active, so no real reason, guess I will have to make a change, too or get stridex pads!..

|
The problem seems to have gone away for me now. I guess it's just an issue while your body adjusts. It took 2-3 months before it went away, though. I am back to my regular deoderant now...

I'm glad I found this. I just started noticing this problem. It's embarrassing! I'm going to try the Secret Clinical Strength AND Stridex pads! Thanks!..
