First off, Do you believe it when celebrities do weight watchers or Nutrisystem? Many thanks for any comment. 2nd question I got is.. Hey guys how's it going. Got my food last night and started today. Already hard getting used to not having as much to eat. Any tips or tricks... |
I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I find an useful answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could give you an answer..
Stick to the plan, surf the forum, drink a ton of water, and STICK TO THE PLAN!..
Welcome. You'll be surprised how quickly you get used to eating that amount when you manage to stick to the plan. Im in my fifth week now and I find myself having to force the rest of my dinner down some nights..
As far as tips go for dealing with hunger.. Drink the water, you'll feel full.. Sugar free gum and or sugar free hard candy (I like the sugar free jolly ranchers, only 5 a day limit on those though) can help kill a quick craving.. Celery makes a great anytime snack.. Lastly, if you're really having a craving that wont go away, try going for a walk. Its good exercise, clears the mind and you might find you're not hungry anymore when you're done... |
I went to the mall with my wife today and almost tripped smelling the chinese food. I have been drinking a lot of water so far. I also will be using diet soda when I get cravings to curb them..
Also how do I get that little graph at the bottom of my screen showing weight loss and all that.. Thanks for all the tips and will be talking to everyone again... |
Hi.
I got my food today and will start tomorrow. Hoping to get inspiration and tips from you. It looks like I have to eat a lot more in comparison what I ate till now.... Is it possible, to eat more and loose weight? Cant believe it...... |
The weight tracker I use is from.
W8book.com. You have to go there and create an account, input your weight under their "weight history tab". Then click the profile tab on the w8book website and at the bottom of the profile page is BBcode for Signature. Highlight that text and copy that HTML (thats control-c on the keyboard). Then come back to the Nutrisystem forums, theres a blue bar at the top of this forum page right above the post reply button that says "user prefrences", click that and then select edit signature. Place your cursor in the signature box and paste (control-v) that HTML you copied earlier and hit save signature.. That may be way to much detail, but there you have it... |
Maptivo - you look awfully young. Are you sure you need to be on this diet? lol.
Welcome. If you do what the diet says you'll be successful... |
That would depend entirely on what you're eating. Im certainly eating a lot more often than I used to, but Im also making healthier choices. For example I used to get a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese, Large fries and a large coke at least twice a week. That one combo meal alone is over 1600 calories. Now Im eating on average 1300 to 1400 calories a day. That one combo meal Id scarf down during lunch was worse than my entire days worth of meals now.
For inspiration I suggest you check out this thread.. Mens Room Before and After Pictures. Theres another thread full of success stories both men and women that I cant seem to find right now, but as a single man it damn near made me wanna find a "big" girl myself and put her on the plan. Its amazing what a beautiful person can be hiding under all that excess weight... |
Ok I found it..
Before and after pictures thread from the general community.. I return to this one often for inspiration. Lots of folks having success... |
I'm on day 6 of NS..
First 3 days were murder... I just wanted food so badly. I didn't realise I enjoyed running on full so much.. By now, I'm a lot better. There's some sense where people are saying that your stomach shrinks (on the inside, not on the outside yet).. Every time I feel like snacking, I come to this forum and look at some of the success pictures. It reminds me why I'm doing this.. Here's asuggestion - buy LOADS of salad. Get some of the craft balsamic vinegar dressing - it's 25 calories in every little bag - that's plenty for a big bowl of salad if your majorly hungry.. Not sure what the vets here would say about that though... |
Sounds like a good suggestion to me. You can eat a s***load of salad and it won't add up to many calories...
Welcome to all the noobs. Salad is your friend. Veggies are your friends. None of us got fat from eating our salad and veggies. Drowning them in butter & high fat dressings did. You might want to try out Walden Farms Dressings.
Did I just say zero? Yep! Do a search and there are lots of discussion threads built around them. You may like them all, some of them, none of them. I like most.. Other than that, eat the food, drink the water, listen to all the advice you will find here and then enjoy being a shrinking man.. Required reading. -. |
Welcome and good luck....I'm on my 5th week right now and lost 16.7 pounds in the first 4 weeks with ZERO exercise...follow the plan 100% and you WILL lose the weight...
Got my food yesterday...I opened the box up and cracked up laughing looking at the lunch portions. I'm trying to wade through all the reading and figure out what to do next. I guess I'm supposed to go shopping and get fruits and veggies and such...I think this is going to be harder than I thought.....
Not really. I used to eat like a pig and it hasn't been that hard to transition into the diet. Much easier than I thought..
Look at the meal planner and see how many add ons you can have. You get much more to eat than just the small lunch and dinner portions. Make out a shopping list based on the add ins listed in the back of the meal planner. If you don't miss any add ins and stick to the plan, you're going to get full. The first couple of days might be hard but after that it will get much easier.. I had breakfast a couple hours ago and now I'm getting hungry again. So it's about time for my mid morning snack. Next thing you know it's time for lunch. Then afternoon snack... then dinner. If I'm hungry, I'm not hungry for long... |
As with most things you'll need to invest a little time up front BUT... It works!..
You really need to take bl54 advice. I remember starting this on a Monday and realizing that morning that I should have gone shopping..
No one in this room was a bigger food hound than I was. I am surprised by how I do not feel hungry on this plan.. The thing is that I found helpful is to plan out my meals for the next day after I have had my evening snack/dessert. Everything is ready to go the next day and I am not scrambling for vegetables or fruits the next morning trying to hit the door for the office.. The plan works!!! You just have to work at... |
Thanks for the encouragement guys. I guess I just assumed that it would be as easy as opening the box and eating. I realize that it's an adjustment and that it will take a little while to get used to. I just pulled everything out of the boxes and cleaned out the pantry to make room for it all. Whenever my lazy wife gets out of bed we're going to run to the grocery and get some add-in stuff and restock on water. I'm a big diet soda junkie, so I was glad to see that it's included in the plan..
It's kind of daunting starting this thing, but hopefully if I can stick around these boards it'll help me feel like I'm not in this by myself... |
Its not quite as easy as just opening the box, but it's pretty close once you get used to it.
Welcome and I look forward to your success (and my own of course.).. |
I'm thinking that most of us had that same moment early on....
The one where we realized this was going to take some actual "work" and planning to do it.. It's worth it.. You have no idea yet how much better you feel when you climb out of bed each day and aren't dragging all the extra pounds around. Follow the plan, drink the water and come here for advice (or to get your butt kicked when you need it.) It works... |
Brandon, it's that work that makes this well work. Get it in your head that this is a lifestyle change - a change that you will practice for the rest of your life. I can tell you that I enjoy this lifestyle after a year - and the results have been litterly miraculous. From 55" waist to 38", 302 to 198, from 6 prescriptions to 1, from Cholesterol of 220 to 140 etc. etc..
This is a journey - enjoy the ride!.. |
I'm looking forward to those days when I get out of bed and my back and knees don't hurt as much and I can slide on my 36-38 pants and feel great. I guess at the beginning it just seemed a bit overwhelming with all of the measuring and figuring out what constitutes a vegetable serving and all that. Like most of you I live an extremely busy lifestyle and with my first child on the way it's only going to get crazier, so I made the assumption that it would be easy...I realize that the easy part was getting fat...the hard part will be undoing all the harm I've done to my body over the years. I'm dedicated though...and now that I have a baby on the way I have some real motivation to do this thing. Day 1 and counting.....
Eat, eat, eat. Really it is all in the foods you eat and eating more often then you think about it..
Go to the recipe club and read, also go to food tips board and read what others are doing with their food. If you just open the BBB you can be overwhelmed and those will help in preparing whole meals out of the food in the box.. Good luck, your picture really does make you look young... |
I guess I'm relatively young, I'll be 34 next month....but my body feels older because I've abused it for so long. I'll definitely visit the recipe club...I just had my first Nutrisystem meal (Fettuccini Alfredo)...and it was not too tasty. Hopefully I can find some good ideas to get me going in there. Thanks again!..

I love chinese food, and have not had it since before Sept. when I started. I always remember chowing down with take out and then weighing more a few days later. As you get use to the plan you'll learn which foods will set you back quickly..
You must stick to the plan the first couple of months. Set yourself a goal, and then reward yourself. I rewarded myself last month with sushi. I built the protein and calories into my meal plan that day. Surprisingly, the wasabi, ginger and soy dip was enough to satisfy my craving for chinese.. REMEMBER: You must set short-term goals and long-term goals. If you don't stay focused and conscious of everything that you put in your mouth, you won't be successful.. Good luck, the plan works!.. |
Hi, I'm new to this and getting ready to place my first order. Anyone out there use the flex plan? Or is that more of a maintaince(sp) type of deal?.
Thanks!!!!.. |
Day 2...I actually didn't feel hungry yesterday that much. My dinner was enormous...Breakfast was good this morning. I had yogurt for the first time in my life and it wasn't too bad at all. I'm not quite sure how exercise affects the meal plan...I work out 4-5 times per week usually running a couple of miles per day and lifting...and I play lots of racquetball. I need to figure out how to account for that with this diet...
Call a counselor, they can answer your questions..
I haven't worked out in the 5 weeks that I've been on the program and have lost 20 pounds.....so, in my case, no exercise needed... |
I had had yogurt about 3 times in my life before starting this...I actually have it almost every morning now as part of my breakfast. I found a "Lite" version at Ralphs market (Kroger). 100 Calories for 8 oz serving..
You'll be surprised at the new and healthy things that you will discover aren't so bad to eat...salad, yogurt, fruit... |
I actually have always loved salad...I just love it with nice fatty ranch dressing and cheese all over it. I've always liked fruit too, I just never ate enough of it. For the yogurt I went with the Dannon Lite'n Fit...it was really good. It had bits of strawberry in it. That's the only flavor I've tried so far though. I'll be going back to the grocery tonight to pick up some more. Any flavors you like?..
My go to yogurt flavors so far have been Raspberry, Strawberry and Lemon. Peach is okay, as is blueberry. I'm not much of a fan of banana/strawberry or vanilla..but, that's more personal taste than any specific issue..
I had the same problems with salad dressing.. Give the Walden Farms stuff a try, not everyone likes it..but zero calories is had to argue with. I've started mixing it with regular low cal dressing. That way I can use my 80 or so calories for taste and then augment with the zero cal to make sure I have good coverage onto the whole salad... |
I'll definitely try that. I had a hard time finding a good salad dressing at the store yesterday. I ended up getting a fat free thousand island. I need to go back and look for the Walden Farms stuff..
Day 3 and counting..... |
The only store I've found in So Cal that seems to carry a lot of the Walden Farms stuff is Mother's Market. They had everything in stock..
Ralphs carried a couple of the items at my local store, then seemed to drop them. But, the local one is fairly small...so a larger Ralphs might still have them.. You can order them on line:. Http://www.waldenfarms.com/. Good luck!. JT.. |
As far as dressings go, the Wishbone Fat-Free Italian is superb...
Maptivo, It's a mind set.... I lost 14 lbs in my first month and it was a slow go at first. But my mind was made up that my Goal was in site and I was off to the races. I am now awaiting delivery for my 2nd box of food. The cool thing is that from time to time I do slip up, but I have learned not to stray to far as I have a goal. The other trick that I have learned is; to log in my food intake each meal on the Nutrisystem site here.
The 2nd tip, is to stay on these forums., They also help you stay focused. Hope this helps Buddy!.. |
The light ranch and french are good also but you must measure and sub as a fat at dinner...
My favorite dressing is Light Vidalia Onion by Kens Steak House, I am addicted to it. My favorite salad is take cut up Romaine lettuce add in a few sliced up strawberries and a half of a sliced up apple. Toss all together with the dressing, for some reason the flavor combination just really pops...
I started the Nutrisystem plan today, and so far so good. I feel like I have eaten enough food for the day and, by the way, everything very tasteful for "diet" food. I still have my dessert to eat in a few minutes..
I am looking forward to check in this forum everyday and be inspired by all of your success stories... |
Welcome! I just started last Sunday. Everything is going well so far. Today was the first time that I had some temptations...but I fought them off with sugar free gum and water. I've worked out quite a bit this week too and I'm already down 11 pounds; but most of that is probably water weight. Keep checking back...we're in this together...
Second day and so far...so good. The only problem I seem to be having is eating my meals on time......I get involved at work and forget about it..
Thank you Brandon for your support and keep the good work!. Dan.. |
When I miss a meal or snack, I eat it at some other point in the day and that is sooner than later. It I don't eat regularly throughout the day, then I'm toooo hunger to satisfy my cravings and that's TROUBLE..
So my point is to make time to eat you food, whenever that is. Set aside 10-15 mins. to actually taste you food and enjoy it. Then get back to work... |
Thanks for your advise, ou812day. Keep up the good work!!.
Today is my fourth day and it has been a great Nutrisystem day. I had my kids over this weekend and that made yesterday kind of shaky concerning my eating. I did well all day, but went out for dinner and got a little out of track. But as I said, today is a brand new day and I have done great. Actually, I am proud of myself... |
Down 12.4 pounds after week 1. I know I'm going to level off this week so I'm trying to stay away from the scale until the weekend. Week 2 here we go!..
12 lbs in a week. That seems way off Bro. Somebody told me it takes a defeciency of 3500 calories to burn 1 pound. That is off the charts..
You must be working out like an maniac... |
I do work out 5-6 days per week...mixing cardio and weights with racquetball and other activities. I've seen several others on the site who lost over 10 pounds the first week, so I don't think it's that far off. I started the program last Sunday at 240 and I weighed yesterday at 227.6...I stuck 100% to the plan and may have even missed some food on Saturday (I was busy playing 27 holes of golf). I drank a ton of water and the only non-water beverage I had all week was one 20oz. Diet Dr. Pepper. I know 12 pounds isn't typical and won't happen in any other week, but for week 1 I hear it's fairly the norm to lose a bunch and then level off...
Awesome week Brandon! Congratulations!.
I am on my 4th day and very tempted to step on the scale, but I will wait until Thursday to see my progress. I will report back... |
It sounds like he has an incredible workout plan but a portion of that weight loss could be losing the water he retained if he had a higher sodium diet before starting NS. That said I dropped 11 last week despite it being the start of my second month which amazed me. Of course I have a lot to lose. From looking around at the tickers us 300+ behemoths seem capable of big losses in the early months. I checked today and Im only down 3 lbs this week so far (official weight in Weds.) so I'm not expecting a repeat of last weeks miracle. I wish I had a scale from the start, I'll never know exactly how much I've lost but Im keeping good track of it now.
Congrats on the weight loss and keep it up!.. |
I was just as active before I started Nutrisystem as far as my workout regimen, but I ate fast food almost nightly and even 2-3 fast food breakfasts and lunches per week also. So I think water weight due to high sodium is probably right on as I ate lots of burgers, fries, etc...
