Wow. I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted last. You all are doing so well..

I on the other hand had three good days followed by a bad day. When I was on 5-1 plan I was so afraid of cheating because I didn't want to start the process of going into Kitosis again, that I never cheated. I'm learning what kinds of rules I need for life. I had a great set of rules, but with the pregnancy I think I need more rules. It's almost a license to eat and I do not need a license to eat. I need to stay healthy..

So I'm back on track for today. The good news is that my energy is back up and I've been enjoying working out again on a regular basis..

Melissa, my husband uses a Garmin and I love to run with people who have them so I know what pace I am running. I'd get one but they are really expensive and since I'm not running right now, we decided to wait on getting me one. Maybe it will be a reward to getting back to my pregnancy weight or something like that...

Barb.

I like that idea of using music to time myself. Not sure how I would do that though. I'm going to keep my song choices to no longer than 5minutes so I can judge using that. I actually don't have to ever go to the bathroom during a run. Strange huh? Now watch I'll have to go Sunday! I do have to go immediately before though. So glad you guys told me about getting back in line for the run!.

Casandra.

I agree with you Garmins are so expensive. I've got myself convinced I would hate it too because they are kind of bulky. Glad you've got your energy back!..

Good evening everyone! Great day today, although I'm looking for yesterday's high of 79. I think it is 47 outside right now. UGH..

Melissa.

I so seriously want you bladder! I could stop every mile if there was a bathroom. I must have a bladder the size of a pea..

Neena.

I'm glad you had a loss this week. I hope that you can be 100% on plan this week. It is so crucial to your success. Every time you go out of ketosis, even if it is just for a few hours, you mess with your metabolism. Every time you mess with your metabolism, you slow it down and it is going to take you so much longer to get to goal. I am an overeater.

1 cheat would have led to another, and soon I would be back at 246 pounds. There are quite a few Crew members that will tell you what happens when you don't stay on plan. They will tell you how much harder it is. I'm sure they will all be chiming in soon! We are here to support you in your weight loss and to help you stay on plan. Being on plan is probably more important than anything else..

Anyone want to chime in?..

I was the same way. Scared to death to cheat. The headaches and pain of getting into ketosis were some of the most horrible things I've ever dealt with...and you know I've been through a lot. I hope all is going well with your pregnancy. I know you will running again soon!.

Just saw a life is good running shirt that I just have to have. I'm thinking that if I can stick to my training schedule and run another PR in the 5K on the 16th, I will have to get it. A girl has to have goals afterall!..

Kitty, I had my knee "cleaned up." Lots of scar tissue from previous injuries and a previous repair attempt. Started PT yesterdy and gave back the CPM machine. Feeling really good. Just have to concentrate on walking normally. Still limping a bit..

Neena, you and me will both be traveling. We'll be each other's silent support staying OP and using the super nice fitness rooms at the hotels. I'll be in San Francisco for meetings Wed-Sun, then home Monday to work, then off to the "Bush" for 4 more days of work. Will stay in the health clinic there but can take some workout gear with me. Hopefully by the time I get back the snow will be mostly gone and I can get on my bike outdoors, knee permitting. And back in the pool.

Ok, that was copied from last week's post. Made it before I saw the new post..

Way to go.

Barb.

PR, and a Life is Good shirt. I have a few of those with dogs and hiking and biking. Love them..

I've been wanting to buy a new car. Well, used is okay. Don't really like new, new cars. Thinking about a Jeep Wrangler. Had one right out of dental school. Paid it off, drove it to Alaska on the Alcan, and rolled it the first winter on some black ice.

So I told myself if I finished my Yukon Quest race I'd get one. Since I failed to finish that race and don't want to wait until next year, I think I'll let myself buy the Jeep Wrangler when I hit goal. Let's see if that inspires me to kick it into gear. That, and the fact that my sister officially passed me. She hit 206.

And my mom had a great first week, losing 11 pounds on the diabetic plan..

And I'm so happy for you too,.

Barb.

, for bettering your time. Now you are inspiring me to go for it in my first bike race May 1. Knee permitting, I'm gonna have to "give it up" and "leave it out there". They give an award for the most improved biker in this race. It's only 10 miles and I can't wait to see what difference 100 pounds can make on a little 10 mile sprint..

Melissa.

, can I have your bladder too? Maybe just half of it even. Barb and I can share it. I made my roomate a playlist last year. Every third song was "Footloose" and she ran faster during "Footloose" and then relaxed a bit during the other two songs, which were still upbeat. She listens to that on the spin bike too, and uses it to do intervals. I think I'll do that for myself this summer, too.

Better get moving myself. Lots to do before I catch the red-eye tonight. Hope everyone has a great week..

Good Morning, Crew!.

Is the bladder like the liver - it can regenerate itself? I have dibs on Melissa's bladder, too.

Yesterday: OP yes, Water yes, exercise no.

Today: exercise - just did 2.5 miles on the treadmill..

Barb asked for chimers....here I am, hoping others can learn from my mistakes. I had to learn from my own mistakes, most of us do.

Many of you know my history, but here goes....

I started Medifast in Sept. 2009 at 224 lbs having gone from 232 to 211 and back up to 224 doing WW for a year. I followed the program as written and stayed 100% OP through Thanksgiving (watched Barb hit goal on Black Friday), Christmas, New Year's, my birthday, Easter, all the grand kids birthdays...you name it. All the eating occasions, I brought my own food. Even brought my own birthday cake. I started thinking I would do it for a month to 'kick start' my weight loss, then go back to WW (so I could eat what I want.

), but the pounds were melting away, I was feeling great and I realized that eating what I want on WW is why I yo-yoed. So, month after month I stayed 100% OP - I didn't want to go out of ketosis - why mess with a good thing?.

I hit goal in July. I started transition...I did phase 1 week after week. I never really got to phase 2, I started tweeking the program like I had always done in WW. A few pounds returned, then a few more. After vacation in August, I was 15 lbs over goal, so I started 5&1 again. From Sept 2010, my Mediversary, til January, I started and restarted and restarted I don't know how many times, but it was another 15 lbs worth.

For me, it's a mental struggle as much as a physical struggle to get back OP and stay OP. The pounds are NOT melting away like they did the first time. It's been a slow and frustrating process. I finally got my head back in the game but my body is too confused. I averaged a loss of 10 lb/month last year. Now, it's more like 5.

I started phase 1 of transition this week. This time I'm doing transition 100% OP, as written, no tweeking. I need to follow the WHOLE program. I need to follow the winners. I'm looking at Barb's new banner -.

Proud Member of the 5% Club..

You have to be successful in Maintenance for...I'm not sure how long, I know at least a year if not more...I want to 'wear' that banner. I'm still here so next year I'll have that banner instead of hanging around losing the same 15-20-30 lbs over and over and over..

We only cheat ourselves when we go off plan and 'cheat'..

Good morning all,.

Thank yous to Barb and Jan for sharing your stories and reminding me really who I am cheating. Yesterday was good .. well, OP, watered but no exercise. Today should bring on some exercise. Journaled yesterday and today to remind myself exactly why I am doing this ... I may need to pull out that ah ha moment as well.

I've had the food and enjoyed the 'newness' of the eating plan and now it's time to ... well, I guess ... just keep swimming :-) Perhaps now is the time to really focus on what things I can do to celebrate my mini-successes..

Working from home again today ... sick DAUGHTER this time ... I'm sure you can hear me banging my head on my desk. I hate that she's not feeling well ... this has been an awful year for kid illnesses ... where oh where is summer?.

Getting ready for my Orlando trip, I think it will be alright ....

Can anyone tell me what the heck to do with these pancake mixes? You wouldn't believe the variety of gloopy meals I've had out of them :-).

Enjoy your day,..

Thank heavens you are alright. If you stepped on the scale, can I step on the scale? Almost there my friend!.

Neena.

, I love the pancakes. They came out after I was in maintenance, but I buy them because they are a great breakfast. Truth be known, I still eat Medifast for breakfast at 6:30 am. It helps me get to my 12:30 lunch. I put mine in a "grab-it" bowl. I spray the bowl with some Pam, dump the mix in and microwave for about 1:30 (depending on the microwave....school is 1:30, home is 1:25) Very yummy.

I was up at 4:30 this morning to exercise. I am really thinking that for April I may need to do more of that. I scorekeep for the track team, so I had to do that after school, which prevented me from running, so morning was the only time I could exercise. It is still to dark to run before work. I think the morning exercise really gets me going..

So, I am on my eating plan (yes Melissa, I'm upping the carbs), exercised and watered..

Have a great evening everyone!..

One thing I did was allow myself to buy one new piece of clothing at every size. This helped remind me about where I was size was and helped me to focus on my body, not just the number on the scale. I enjoyed knowing it was time to buy a new piece of clothing, rather than waiting until goal. I know it was a little extravagant, but it helped..

Heck, now that I think about it, I put some many things in place.....all the things that I learned over 30 years of yo-yo dieting.....that I was bound to succeed this time..

Let me know if you want any hints!..

Good Morning Everyone..

TGIF!!.

Barb.

, I like exercising in the morning, too. Gets the blood pumping and I always feel so good when I'm done (adreneline, dopamine?). Great way to start the day. Helps mentally as well as physically..

Kitty.

, glad to hear it was a scale cheat. Now's the only time that weighing frequently is a plus - or so my coach says. While transitioning it's important to see how the extra food is affecting my body. Daily is still a bit much, but old habits die hard. I have to be ready for my scaleless trip. The really scary part about that is I won't have any internet to check in with you guys..

Neena.

, never lose sight of why you're doing this and where you've been. It helps me to stay focused. Keep you eye on the prize - not new clothes, but a new healthy body.

With that comes a new, healthy life. I'll be able to sit on the floor and play with my grandkids at the birthday party tomorrow...and actually get back up with no help..

2 years ago, I couldn't do that..

Melissa's.

Race is Sunday, so send her some Crew vibes around 7 a.m. (or Saturday). It's her first half marathon and I know she'll do great. Watch for pictures on Sunday..

I've had a couple NSVs this week: I passed up, multiple times, with it.

Right in my face.

, one of my trigger foods that I had pretty much binged on during my failed attempt at T&M. The mental struggle was short & I emerged victorious..

The other one is also shopping related, but clothes shopping. I had a couple coupons from Chico's and they're right across the corridor from my hairdresser (she moved to the mall ). They didn't have my size 1 in the skirt I wanted, so I took a 0.5 and a 2 into the dressing room assuming I'd have them order the size 1. The 0.5 fit and looked great! I'll be stylin' on my cruise.

Waving to the whole crew - have a.

Hi Crew,.

Sitting in San Francisco on lunch break with ice on the knee. Think I overdid it a bit Thursday. Took the ferry to Angel Island and hiked a little too much. Felt good going uphill as it is the only time I don't limp. Going downhill was tough and today I am paying for it. Good thing I have lots of sitting around today and tomorrow..

Hard to believe Easter is coming so fast. Lent will be over in 2 weeks. And with it will come Spring and outdoor biking. Can't wait..

Anchorage and the Valley had heavy wet snow yesterday. Must say I am happy to be in California sunshine and temps in the mid 50's..

Not much else to report. Eating my Medifast meals, avoiding the candy bowls on the tables, caving a bit to the alcohol flowing, coming to the Crew for support to stay OP. Drinking my water, lots of it..

Happy Friday and wishing a great weekend to the Crew!!!.

Post from my phone. Still getting used to the touch keypad and the #$(*#$* auto-correct..

Made it through the birthday party and my Tupperware party on Sunday - both OP. Down 1/2 lb last week and am starting phase 2 transition. For me that means more veggies. If you are what you eat, I'm a vegetable.

I'm still sticking to the low-carb, OP veggies, except I am adding carrots this week. They'll be a good snack instead of my mid-morning or afternoon Medifast meal. Piece by piece, the Medifast safety-net drops away.

It's been a while I need to go back and get caught up on the post. Melissa, congratulations on your 1st 1/2 marathon. Your time is great even if it's not what you wanted. My first one was 2:23..

I'm OP today. Just having trouble getting the water in for some reason. I normally love water and am just not right now.... I'm having to make more of an effort to drink it..

More later..

Happy day Crew...

Wow, I posted this on Sunday, but just found it on the wrong thread! geesh..

"Hi all! Back in the saddle again - Dh and I are finished with our regular travels and he may travel for work, but not me. Though my friend did snag some tickets to see Hugh Jackman in May in San Fran. so that will be pure pleasure, but at least it's a way off from now. It is absolutely wonderful just being home this weekend. Had theatre tickets last night and it was just the two of us, so a nice date night..

Just got home from JAN'S s and she is looking super great!! I had to pick up some groceries on the way home and I was still feeling so inspired and did a good healthy shopping with no mess ups. I'm doing 4 & 2 and I feel good, but the weight is not budging, so I hope I'll have a good nudge on the scale soon..

I have done a quick catch up on some of the recent posts and JAN showed me a great pic of MELISSA in her running mode and all I can say is GREAT JOB! and.

BARB - great job to you, too, you are a running machine, as well. Go get 'em..

Waving to all of my dear crew friends, I've missed you.

NEENA, BOBBI, CHRISTINE, SHERRY, KITTY and all of you guys - enjoy a sunny day (it's actually in the 80's today....Michigan weather is fickle, but this feels like it'll stay. )".

(that was Sunday, today, Tues., is much cooler....sigh.....).

KITTY - you travelin' fool - way to go! I remember once you said you'd be worn out if you traveled like we did this year, but, girlfriend, I'm worn out THINKING of what you are planning, and very, very jealous!! The art trips are really intriguing, where else besides Barcelona? 29, 28, 27 - what a fabulous thing to be counting down - you are almost there and freeeeeeee..

BARB - peas on the knees - ain't it great that you can run outside again? What a long and brutal winter....

CASANDRA - nice to see you!!!!.

JAN - You looked so cute on Sunday, loved your outfit and enjoyed your hospitality. You continue to inspire the heck out of me and I've been OP this week so far - of course, it's only Tuesday, but I've been struggling on a daily basis and this week is going GREAT- thanks!! See you soon..

MELISSA - congrats on such a wonderful year - I know you are much happier and boy, do you sure are running fit!.

CHRISTINE - I'm so happy that you are in the 'lower 48' and enjoying Cal. and the change of scenery. Take care and rest up some, will ya'? You enjoy!..

Happy Hump Day!!.

And, boy do I need it!!! Got a call at 3 yesterday - major system issues, so I was there til after 9.

Grateful I was at the backup center with a 20 minute drive home, rather than HQ at 60+.

Also grateful I had lots of extra lettuce with me and my drawer full of tuna packets. Had a nice L&G while my database took it's time restoring. Ordering in options are few there and I certainly didn't want to take the time to run out to get something (there's several grocery stores near by and places with OP, but no delivery) It all worked out, except the part about working 12+ ours..

We're not out of the woods yet, so back at it today..

Deb.

, good to see you Sunday. I hated to be indoors on such a nice day, but I loved having the windows open. All that wind blew up quite a mess in my upstairs bathroom, though. Thanks for coming, too. I had enough sales to get the item I wanted for free....heck, I got the whole set!.

FYI to the Crew...I was roped into having a Tupperware party (DH & I went to one of his co-workers). I really wanted the produce keeper. I couldn't decide on which (large) size to get, but I was able to get the whole set <GRIN> Bring on the salad & veggies!!!.

Better get my behind in gear, here..

Waving to the whole Crew!!..

Hey Crew,.

Out in "Bush" Alaska. Nothing to eat but what I brought with me. Well, except for the sourdough blueberry hotcakes one of the clinic workers brings every morning. So far I've resisted the temptation. 2 more days.....

No exercise except some isometric stuff. Cold and still deep snow up here. Was below zero when we arrived Tuesday. Supposed to get up to 20 when I leave Friday. Will be glad to get back to the mud and 40's in Anchorage. My friend said the bike trails are pretty clear so I'm hoping for a ride Sunday, if the knee will tolerate..

The knee is enjoying a restful week. Walking around a small clinic is nothing like the stress I gave it in San Fran last week with all the hiking and hills. It's already bending more and I've taken no meds all week. I'm encouraged..

Jan, Debbie, Kitty, Barb.

, you guys are all keeping so busy. I understand. Springtime makes everyone a little happier..

Melissa.

, thanks for the before picture. wow. What a change. My one year is at the end of June. Can't wait to take some pics and compare to last June..

Cassandra,.

I am the worst water drinker. But it is so dry up here in the Arctic desert that I've had 120 ounces both of the past 2 days. Up 3 times last night to pee. And I'm really trying to increase my water intake anyway. It is one of the hardest things for me to try to do..

Well, Crew, any special plans for Holy Week and Easter? I know several of us are Catholic. Easter is so late this year. It's light up here now quite late so if we really waited 'til dark to start our Vigils we wouldn't start until after 11 pm. The Archbishop gave us special permission to start at 9 pm in Alaska. Haven't decided how to spend Easter day yet. Maybe a bike ride?.

Twelve of my dogs are going to Skagway with another musher for the summer. They will hook up to a wheeled cart and give tourists rides on dirt trails. I'll miss them but they'll return in September with good training miles on them and they'll be in shape to start Fall training. With only half my crew at home I should have a little more time to get myself in good shape as well..

Have a good week, crew. Waving to Sherry, Neena, and the rest!!.

Mornin,' crewsers, day four of my six day week. Today is my normal day off but I'm working today, so I had to psych myself up. As in - no rewards b/c you have to wait until Monday for your day off, no whining, no resentment, no sludge even if it's all over the place @ work. Yesterday was hectic and I didn't get to check in here at all, so I haven't read your posts yet from yesterday. There are only so many hours in the day, although I know that if I'm too busy to come here, then I am too busy for my own good. Left home @ 6:20 this morning and had already done two loads of laundry!! Which I left for dh to fold along with the coffee pot and mugs to wash..

Yesterday I got the 'Twiggy' treatment at work and had to remind myself not to let it go to my head. Remember, 160 pounds at 5'1" is not Twiggy. But it's a far cry from 240 so whenever I wear certain new clothes that actually fit correctly I get lots of remarks at work. I don't really like the attention but I thank them for their compliments anyway..

I'll try and catch up on posts later. Thank you all for still being here!.

Hi Crew,.

It's been busy here. Seems every week there is one day where my sleep is interrupted for one thing or another and we don't even have kids yet. LOL. Last night my husband was in the same pain he was in last week when I had to take him the ER in the middle of the night. They gave us some meds there that we never filled because the pain didn't come back, well last night it did so at 2:00am I was out driving around looking for a 24hour pharmacy. After that I just had trouble getting back to sleep..

Lack of sleep makes the OP eating harder. I'm glad I have my journal at my table to remind me of what I need to do and you all here so I can stay focused even when I'm so tired that everything else is out of focus..

Kitty.

I'm glad you are being gracious about the compliments. I know that's the hardest part for me. But I remember when I would compliment someone on how good they looked and they would tell me all the things that were wrong with them, I would feel like they were judging me too. So accepting the compliment is a very nice thing to do..

Christine.

What are you doing in Alaska? I've never been but would love to go sometime. It was suppose to be a trip my DH and I took for our 5th anniversary, but since I quit my job that year to go back to school, the funds were not there. Maybe for our 10th. This year will be our 8th, so 10 is not that far away. I'll need to start saving for it..

Melissa,.

Did you get pictures of the firefighters? That would motivate me to keep going too. wouldn't want to look weak...or would I....?..

Kitty.

, I'm tired just reading about your day. I guess I better just suck it up! I'm up at 5:30 every day but the most I get accomplished is putting the dishes from the dish drainer away. Maybe put a load of laundry in the DRYER.

I'm way spoiled...DH does the laundry..

It's been a hectic week for me, too. 12 hour day on Tuesday kinda wore me out and all the fallout from the emergency is still going on. In 17 days, it'll all be a dream.

I'm too brain dead for any shout outs but wanted to pop in and say hello...and be accountable..

OP - Yes.

Water - Yes.

Exercise - just flappin' my jaw..

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been MIA. Tax time. All done now. Yeah! All my course work is done. Yeah! I can actually breathe and have a girls weekend.

Saturday afternoon I'm having lunch with a group of girls I graduated HS with..

Signed up for a 5K on Saturday, but the weather is suppose to be miserable, so I may not run. I'm too old to run in cold rain, even if I paid for it! I'll take the t-shirt though..

Debbie, glad to have you back..

Jan, got my tupperware. Very happy. Bright colors..

Melissa, firefighters....that would keep me going!.

Christine, we start our vigil at 7 when it is still light anyway. We are going to DC to hear daughter sing with her new church choir..

Kitty, woo hoo on NSV's!.

Casandra, get your sleep now! You won't ever sleep again. Mines 22 and I still am not sure I sleep..

Have a great day everyone. Thinking about you all. I'll be around a lot more after this weekend..

Mornin,' girls. Today I decided that I didn't want to hang out in Starbucks as I usually do on my early days, so I took my laptop with me to work and arrived here one hour earlier than normal, with the plan of sitting in my completely silent office and catching up on everything I need to do online. Until somewhere between 8 a.m. and 8:30 I'll be the only one in the building, so it's dead quiet. Meanwhile, I forgot that the A/C doesn't turn on until 7:30, so for the first half hour it was mighty hot in here! But I have a tiny desk fan, and it's blowing on me right now. Yesterday went to buy several pairs of pajamas, since I sweat through a pair every night anymore.

I just might hit that before I come to work, as I don't have to be here until 8:30 tom'w. I've given away so many tops (have enough pants now) that I might check out the tops, too. Well, enough pointless rambling. I just wanted to connect with my crewsers..

Good morning all! Quick check-in before my day is gone. We ave a surprise birthday party at 2, dinner at 5:30 and theater at 8. My RI sis gave her 2 MI sisters tickets to Mama Mia for Christmas, so tonight's the night. Gotta go to the really big city (Detroit. Ann Arbor is city enough for me), but it'll be fun. So we'll be attending the b-day party in our theater clothes.

We'll see.....

That's the best part - I feel like I'm playing 'dress up'. All the cute things I got last summer are awaiting sorting and packing for our trip (16 days.

), but I'm sure I can mix & match something for a night on the town in these chilly climes. One of the things I'm looking forward to on vacation is having a gym at my disposal and being able to walk/run the track - on the upper deck.

Who ever thought I'd look forward to exercise on a vacation??!! With no schedule to constrain me, I'll get my exercise in every day (all day) Also looking forward to sunshine, even if it will be a little chilly at first. It's 68 in Rome right now.

Sorry, no shout outs this morning. Time for more coffee and a mug of pancake..

Have a FABULOUS OP Saturday!!..

Kitty,.

I remember heat like that when I lived in KY. Don't miss it a bit. Congrats on losing another pound, even if you weren't supposed to know that yet..

Today was 55 and sunny. I'm back home in Anchorage and with half my dogs gone to Skagway for the summer I enjoyed a day of puttering and quiet. Was able to sweep the gravel up off about half of driveway where it was dry. Still some snow on the parts the sun doesn't hit yet. I transferred the gravel to the dog yard where mud will plague us for several more weeks. Spent some time in the garage sweeping the floor and organizing the piles left from winter activities.

But now I'm sitting down and paying for my day of hyper-activity as my knee is on fire. Think some ibuprofen may be needed. I'm headiing downtown in an hour for Mahler's "Resurrection" at the Performing Arts center. We do have a fine symphony up here that occasionally surprises me with a favorite piece. Then after that maybe I'll hit the hot tub. So at least I'll be resting the knee the rest of the day..

Going to Willow tomorrow morning for Palm Sunday Mass, then hope to try the knee out gently on the bike trails. Seems to be bending better but there is still lots of inflammation. I'm climbing up stairs well but still not trusting it on the down stairs..

Cassandra.

, I live in Alaska and have a private dental practice in Anchorage. I also travel off the road system to what we call "the Bush' to do children's dental clinics..

Jan.

, I can't wait to hear all about your cruise. And I know what you mean about the vacation. Sometimes it's nice to break routine and have no agenda so you can do what you want and try things you've been wanting to try, when you want to try them. Have fun!!.

Barb.

, when do you leave for Maine? Will you stay all summer? Do you get lot's of visitors/family when you are there? How far is your drive to DC to visit your daughter?.

Waving hi to the rest of the Crew. Have a great weekend..

Kitty, it's ok. I won't be too upset. I'm still off mine. Wow does it keep me honest. I look at things and say, hmmm....will it still be there on April 24th or so? Yeah, I'll pass. Now if you told me you weren't drinking your water or you went off plan, then I'd have to yell and scream a bit!.

Jan, gotta love those little black dresses. Although, I am rather excited about some of the other little dresses that look really good right now. The only problem is that they are all sleeveless. I mean really, how can I wear a sleeveless dress and not offend someone?.

Christine, nothing like a quiet day! I cantored Palm Sunday mass last night at church. I can't leave for Maine until June 26th due to a dear friend's wedding. Last year I missed one, but the bride and groom went to Maine for their honeymoon, so DH and I treated them to a special dinner. We do get some visitors, but thankfully not too many. This year I will be singing with the Mt. Desert Island Chorale.

I've sung it before, but it is the first time for DH. Should be a good concert. I hope you enjoy the Mahler. That is one of my favorite Mahler pieces. You are lucky to have a good orchestra.

DC is about 90 minutes, Baltimore 45, Philadelphia 2 hours. Yet I'm still in a rural area. Best of both worlds..

Have a great day everyone!..

Good morning, all...again. This time it's a new post. Don't know why I didn't just delete the repeat from last night when I went to edit it...oh, yeah, it was after midnight.

Quick hello to everyone before we're off to shop for DH...needs some things for our trip. I love shopping with him cuz he always makes me get things for me. When deciding between this or that, his usual response is "Just get them both." Gotta love it!.

I had a water NSV last week that I keep forgetting to post, so here goes before I forget again..

I've been a big water drinker since joining WW in '97 or '98. I like it icy and I like the sipper tops. I have a collection of bottles that I fill & freeze. My grandkids know nothing different than yiayia's frozen water. They've been drinking from my water bottle since they were babies. I can give them their own bottle, even freeze it for them, but they just want to drink from mine..

When I saw them last week for the birthday party, I was hugging them & telling them how much I missed them, hadn't seen them in a while, etc., etc. etc. The 6 year old says "I missed your water - it's so cold!".

Barb.

You're right about all the other cute dresses - maybe DH will get me one today.

I've also seen littlel crop cardigans that will cover these ol' granny flaps..

The scale remains the same this week - I don't know how to act. I'm so used to looking and waiting for a drop, that there's a feeling of disappointment until I remember it's doing what it's supposed to do for T&M..

DH is ready, so gotta go. BBL..

I was right to take DH shopping with me. As predicted when I asked him which dress he liked better, he said "I think you should get them both" Since they were both 50% off, I didn't argue.

We have 3-5 inches of snow predicted starting at 2 a.m..

Good Morning Crew. I am here and still recovering from vacation. We had the g-kids this weekend and I feel like a train hit me. My body is sore, especially my hips. I hope that is not a sign of things to come..

Vacation was wonderful but very exhausting. My sister and I walked for miles. I was hoping that the walking would offset my poor food choices on the buffet, but I don't think so. I am in denial right now and my pants are tight. I haven't got on the scales and probably won't until I get myself up off the floor and get back OP..

The weather here is already hot and we already have the ac on. I really miss spring. That is something we don't have much of in Florida. But then again, our winter is 50-60 degrees most of the time..

Barb, What is the 5% Club banner? I love it, it is very cute..

Jan, Love the baby farm animals..

Kitty, How many days left?.

Christine, Why are half of your dogs gone for the summer?.

I am Medifast prepared for the day. "One day at a time," I need to have that tatoo'd on my hand so that everytime I pick up something to eat I would see it. I get derailed everytime I take vacation. I have another mini-vacation the first weekend in May so I really need to get my self together. I have done it before and know that I am capable of making the right choices without EXCUSES. I didn't lose 40+ lbs by making excuses.

I discovered that I can finally eat the oatmeal as oatmeal with out making it into bread or muffins. I am going to do this for a while because it cuts down on condiments (which I hardly ever keep track of)..

Wishing you all a Happy Medifast Day!!!!..

Hey there, Crew - How did I not post for a wee k again?????? I am happy to report that my schedule is now calmer, we had our biggest event thursday and I'm really not going to put in that many hours this week. This weather in Michigan STINKS - snow this morning, 1.5, but a real pain driving in this morning, and it's just COLD. I am so sick of it I could scream and the dogs have gone back into hibernating in their little kennels curled up. I know how they feel. Enough, the sun is out and small comfort, but it's nice anyway The wind has caused more damage this past weekend and it's still going strong. Looking for warm weather - where is it???? I guess a cruise is the only remedy - Jan..

JAN - looking forward to hearing all about the cruise and if I don't get my Tuppers before you go, don't you worry about it, it's still a great reason to get together. Good for you on keeping OP, I am seriously struggling, but I think of how good you look in person, cute little clothes and sandals, uh, I am really directed..

BARB - I have been thinking about you, too, and wish I could hear your beautiful cantoring. I always enjoy the music at this time of year and it is always beautiful and deep. Did you do the 5k or is that coming? This cold is the pits..

CHRISTINE, KITTY, MELISSA (firefighters? mmm), CASANDRA, SHERRY (send us your heat), everyone else, just missing you guys and glad to catch up on reading posts..

I have been struggling to stay OP and then it hit me that I will have no clothes to go into the warm weather with if I don't get on it. Also, I don't feel so good, I know the difference. I have packed my food for the next few days for work, and just made some soup and cut up radishes and celery and lettuce. Should be okay the next few days and need to order a few things from MF. I KNOW there is really only one way for me to get back and that's 5 & 1. I've been doing 4 & 2, but the scale doesn't move and not exercising is the biggest reason.

Hope your evening is a good one and thanks for inspiring, as always..

Hi everyone! Decent day today. Finally got the lawn cut. Of course, part of it was a swamp. I had to avoid that area. The weeks are out of control, so I had to call the lawn service. I had used one for quite a few years, but was really disappointed.

This year, half my back lawn is a nasty weed garden. It should not look that bad after one year off and all those years of lawn service. So I called a new service. Hopefully it will look better. Can't look any worse.

Debbie.

, welcome back! Those clothes will keep you honest. That is why I got rid of everything that was too big. Now I have nothing to wear if I don't stay in this size. Things get a little tight and I tighten things up. Its been working well. When I thought I'd have trouble, the last two weeks of musical season, I went to 4+2 to try to stay away from all the pitfalls of busy life and eating.

The other thing I noticed is that it helped me refocus my eating plan. I know that through the winter, I got a little loose with some things. Those 2 weeks on 4+2 helped me refocus on healthy food. I do enjoy some of the music this time of year. I really like the rituals..

Jan.

, got my tupperware about 2 days after I place my order. Wow, they were so fast. It took me a long time to stop looking for losses. That is a real paradigm shift..

Sherry.

, missed you. The 5% is for someone who has lost and maintained their loss for at least one year. I've actually maintained for almost 17 months. Its hard to believe it's been that long..

Kitty.

I have no doubt you will stick to your plan! Drink up that water..

Hope eveyrone had a great day!..

Hi Sherryhang in there. You can do it..

Half my dogs are in Skagway with another musher taking tourists on dryland tours. They hook 10-18 dogs up to a wheeled cart and run around dirt paths to give the idea of what it's like. But only 2 miles because it's too hot, (okay, let's use the word warm with my Florida friends,) to run any longer in the summer..

Had my surgery follow up today. Looking promising but I was instructed to pick up the pace of rehab. That's what I've been waiting to hear. Last night I managed a 6 mile ride. Some mild pain but not too bad. Then my first time in the hot tub sine surgery.

Yeay!! Gonna push for a ten mile ride tonight, and a swim. And some more shoveling of the gravel both at home and work..

It's been so nice outside, in the low 50's while the sun is out until well past 9:30. Hard to be inside right now..

Jan.

Love your pics. I have to figure out how to compress mine so I can post some for you guys..

Barb,.

Mahler was excellent. Well worth the time spent indoors..

Go.

Hi ladies, back from the seder and about to hit the sack. I don't know if any of the crewsers have been to a seder, but there are readings we do and there is ceremonial wine and ceremonial matzoh. So I had two sips of wine and two bites of matzoh. BLT's. The rest of the meal I was fine - no potatoes or other things served with dinner, no matzoh balls in the chicken soup, etc. Even chose a low-carb salad dressing (my friend had set out several bottles of dressing to choose from and I stood there reading the labels).

All in all, despite the BLT's, I am pleased with the way I handled myself. In the past, it would have been matzoh up the ying yang, matzo balls in the soup, and elbowing everyone out of the way so I could get to the desserts. Another past strategy, which always backfired, was to be little miss perfect while at the event but then come home and binge afterward. So I think I can look myself in the mirror without shame tonight..

Kitty.

After today - 22 days left...

BARB - I just read that there is a list of Healthy Fuelings - do you know that term? I have printed the list out, it was on a newbie site or something....can't really remember now, but it's news to me, at least that phrase. They are 100 calorie snacks... for Maintenance, I presume?.

Morning crew, I made it through the day yesterday 100%. The evening time is when it gets hard for me. I want to snack on stuff that is around the house. I guess it is time to clean out the pantry again. I gotta leave some stuff for DH, but need to get rid of the stuff that I like and have left c r e e p into the house..

I am ready to try spaghetti squash again, does anyone have a good recipe?.

Barb, I really want that 5% banner, so I better start acting like it and earn it..

I have one BIG pitfall..... food is a reward. Growing up we went out to a nice dinner once a week. That was a special time. The rest of the time mom cooked dinner and we ate at the table as a family every night. We did not go through the drivethru at McD's for a fast lunch and we didn't go to 7-11 for a big gulp when we had food and drink at home.

Today, I still treat these special days as rewards. However, what was rewarding for my soul is not rewarding for my body. I will overcome. Everytime that I take a step backwards I learn a little more about myself. I am learning to reel myself back in sooner each time.

Thanks for being here... Hope you are all having a wonderful day...

Kitty, congratulations on your successful Seder. I don't think those little BLT's are an issue when you consider the ritual and meaning. I never counted the host and wine at communion..

Debbie, I haven't heard that term. I am curious about it. Let me know if you find the link..

Sherry, that banner means so much to me. Even more than goal at this point. It wasn't the losing that was the problem (well OK, I never did make goal, but I could lose) it was the maintenance of anything I lost. I have dug in deep to be honest with myself and why I eat. I also finally had to learn that there are some things that I will always say no to, period. There are other things that I have to be so careful with and can only have in controlled situations.

Only took me 30 years to get here..

I think the real thing for me is about no excuses. Seriously, I had an excuse for everything. In addition to Kessler's book "The End of Overeating" I also read Wayne Dyer's Excuses Begone. I journaled daily for over a year. I still write today, but not on those readings like I did earlier when I was trying to figure out why I ate. The fact is that I didn't have control.

What I find the most amazing today is that when I set up my rules and said, no excuses allowed, it all fell into place. Today the rules keep me in place. I don't go over my calorie limit for the day. Period. Oh, I do bank some calories, but the have to be in the plan for the day to spend them. I use them mostly on the day of the week that I don't have time to exercise, but might still have a higher calorie count.

So perhaps the challenge this week is to figure out what you need to do to be successful. Or more importantly what hasn't worked in the past. Before I started MF, I made a list of what worked and what didn't. What worked was high protein. What didn't work was falling off of whatever eating plan I was on at the time, sugar, and excuses. At least once a week I go back and look at that list and try to decide if anything has come back to haunt me.

The different now is I catch it immediately. There is no tomorrow. I must take care of it today and now..

Easy? Not always. Necessary? For me, yes. Why? Lets face it, going into my closet and not having to worry if something fits is NSV that keeps on giving. A long run when I come back feeling recharged and ready to take on the world is a great feeling. Knowing at this weight I look ten years younger..

Dig down deep. Once you know why you will succeed...

Hello! Back from Orlando and I'm afraid I'm <hangin' head and shuffling feet> ... waiting for Barb to yell at me .... did NOT do well at all ... the food we were served was loaded with sauces (to extend it I suppose) and carbs. [And after I typed the above, I read Barb's note on excuses .... yup I have 'em!] I did eat salad but yes I put the rest in my mouth as well.

OPish yesterday and today so far totally OP, watered and exercised. Stood on the scale ... not a good answer but I knew that..

So nice to hear you are all doing well! Talk to you tomorrow!..

Hi everyone! It's still raining and chilly and very very gloomy here in Mich. I guess the 'wintry mix' is coming for the 3rd night in a row. Enough already! I'd kill for a nice evening walk or just standing on the deck and surveying the greening grass...anything that gets ya' outside, but alas, not yet..

Cleaning out my purses this weekend and going through some junk - ya' know, purse junk - and found my 3 x 5 card I made when I started reading 'End of Overeating' - I read those 10 or so things that made me so happy last summer when I was at goal. It was SO IMPORTANT to read them over and over and I had put them on a very bright green card. Every time I opened my wallet today, that card jumped out at me!.

It is absolutely exciting to think about those great NSVs and knowing how happy I was all last year and will be next week when the scale shows me somethin' good..

These inspirational tools are really important and I sure know I NEED THEM!.

So glad we are all here together and I look forward to celebrating the coming good weather (I know it's coming...?) and celebrating those pounds that fly away with all of our hard work! Thanks for the constant inspiration, Crew - you are the best!.

Have a good evening and do something for YOU..

: Just cut & paste the address from the top of your browser:.

Pancake in a mug: Mix according to the directions. Spray a mug with Pam, pour in the batter. Nuke for 60-80 seconds, depending on your microwave. I sometimes add 1 TBL egg beater to give it more fluff & substance (does fluff cancel out substance.

).

Sherry.

- welcome back!! I, too, am yearning for the 5% banner. It's like Barb said, though, we gotta figure it out and know why we eat, why we cheat and no more excuses! I grew up with food as a reward as well and it's a tough thing to break. Especially when so many social occasions are centered around food. I try and focus on the family and the event and not the food. I've turned down gatherings at my sister's for just that reason - too food-centric. Anyway, that's why we're here - WE CAN DO!!.

Neena.

Glad you're back. Try and remember why you're here and how hard it is to get back OP once you've strayed. That helps me when I'm tempted. That and not wanting to go out of ketosis. It's easier for me to just stay in ketosis and stay OP than to go in and out...better for the body, too..

Barb.

You continue to inspire and lead the way. Thanks for sticking around and sharing your experience and wisdom..

Kudos to Kitty.

On a successful Seder. I'm so jealous of your 22 days!!.

Less than 2 weeks before we embark on our adventure. I am.

SO READY.

For this vacation!! Debbie isn't kidding about this weather - we didn't get the 3-5 inches that was predicted, at least not down here, but further north at my HQ...enough to plow the parking structure. DH built a fire tonight...yes, a fire in the middle of April! Supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow, but back down to the 30's at night..

I'm going to go snuggle into my covers and call it a night!..

Neena and Debbie,.

I've been right there with you guys. Do so well, then fall off and regress, then struggle to get back on. I like the index card idea. Will work on that..

Barb.

'nuff said. Please don't leave us..

JanSuch nice clean snow berms!! Ours are still hanging around but they are black and ugly and icy. Can't melt fast enough. But our weather has been glorious by Alaska standards, sunny and daytime highs in the 50's. We've all been out in our t-shirts puttering. My toes did get a little cold on my ride last night, though. Managed to push it to 10 miles.

Hot tub felt great last night..

Have a good day Crew!!!.

Made it through another day.... 99.9% OP. My only slip was that I ate a jelly bean while counting them for a guessing game at the Easter Egg Hunt. I don't feel bad about it cause I stopped myself from eating any more. I will weigh by the end of this week and update my ticker. When I advoid the scales it is a sure sign for me that I am not doing what I should be doing.

It is time to get honest with myself...

SHERRY - Gosh, when you said that about the scale, I got a jolt. I am seriously weighing in next Monday, but I am way over my current ticker and I need to get real, so I will post next Monday what I really am at and I KNOW I will be less than I am today. (PS - those darn jelly beans (peeps for me.....).

Had a good day packet-wise and have laid out my meals for tomorrow. I have been doing that, but BLTs had been running rampant through my days. The 4 & 2 was not good for me right now and the 5 & 1 makes the last few days so good and reminds me of why I started this in the first place. I knew I was in trouble when I got a notice from the dr. that my appt. was due in a month or so and I realized that the last time she saw me I was almost at goal and I DO NOT want her to see the extra 12-15 I've been playing with.

The last week or so has been so good and I know why I love goal weight - it just feels great!.

Here's to us as we keep 'fightin' that good fight'.

Hugs, Crew!.

Morning.

I am hanging in there. Today is day 4 for me bring back OP. Wow, I thought is was day 3 and preparing myself for a headache, but just realized it is day 4. Yeah!.

I have been very busy preparing for our annual Eatser egg hunt in my nieghborhood. 1200 eggs are stuffed, the Easter bunny is scheduled to make his appearance, tables and tents are borrowed..... I will buy 120+ hotdogs and buns tomorrow. We have prizes and games ready. I went to the local Goodwill to look for additional toys for prizes. Bought me 3 shirts and a dress for $12.00.

Threw some of them in the washer and the rest in the dryer to freshen them up. We ask our neighbors to donate new or slightly used toys for the prizes so, this was a great place to pick up more toys..

Weekends are the hardest for me to stay OP, so this will be my first weekend back OP.... I have to stay focused because I will be around all this candy, hotdogs and cookies for a few hours..

Debbie,.

I felt the same way about going to the doctor. Although I had been at a lower weight, it turns out I was still down 10 lbs from the last time I saw her. So I didn't mention to her that I was actually disappointed with my weight. She was still happy with the results..

Christine.

, 50 degress.... that is coat and glove weather for us in Florida and t-shirt weather for you... too funny. My first year in Florida DH and I were out on the boat in January in t-*****. We would see people wearing heavy winter coats thinking, "where the heck are they from?" .... we found out that they were from here.

LOL.

Happy Thurdsday everyone!..

And... the only way I'm able to stuff the jelly bean eggs and hide the candy for the little hunt we are having Sunday is because I gave up chocolate and candy for Lent. Funny how I can do it for 43 days and struggle the rest of the time..

Rode 10 miles Tuesday night. Knee feeling better every day. Last night was cloudy and not so warm so we took the night off riding and went bike shopping. Might have to look around a little more tonight. I've been meaning to get a new road bike for the last 2 years and just haven't made the time to go looking..

, go get a bike. It's a reward for all your MF'n work so far..

Debbie,.

BLTs are death for me. Thank you for being so honest. It helps all of us. We are only as sick as our secrets. The mental image I summon when tempted to take a BLT is of a woman sprawled on the sidewalk with a needle in her arm. I do not want to be that person, and when I am 'cheating' I am no better than a drug addict in the street.

Barb.

, if you have a chance, read the cover story from the New York Times Sunday magazine from April 17. It is about how sugar is a vicious poison and, let's not kid ourselves, high fructose corn sugar is no better. Years ago I read the book.

Sugar Blues.

, which helped me as much back then as the David Kessler book is helping me now. I just reordered.

Sugar Blues.

In paperback. I wanted it for my Kindle but they don't have it in Kindle format. Speaking of Kindles, if you are the owner of a Kindle, later this year you will be able to 'borrow' electronic books from public libraries to read on your Kindle. Up to now you could not get them from libraries for the Kindle.[ /COLOR].

Just back from the volunteer appreciation luncheon. No sweat. It was a buffet and I was able to serve myself perfectly reasonable foods and completely avoid the starches and the desserts. Not to wrench my arm patting myself on the back, but that's two occasions this week that I attended and I am very pleased that both went well. Thank all of you for your support..

I must confess that I am worried about my trip to Texas (for art classes) in July. I'm not worried about the trip to WA state to my friend's house in June, or even about Portugal, but the TX trip has the potential to be a food fest. I'm beginning to wonder if I made a mistake in signing up to go there. My plane tickets are paid for so it looks like I'll be going whether I'm fearful or not. My trip to Orlando for the TSFL convention follows the TX trip, so maybe I'll be scared straight. I sure do not want to arrive at TSFL after a binge-fest in TX!.

I have to go back and read the page. I'll do that later tonight. I actually have tomorrow off. Yoo hoo..

No excuses this weekend gang. There really aren't any!.

I'll catch up soon, I promise..

Sorry for the absence...

You know what you have to do..

Debbie.

Those NSVs are so important. When I am struggling I pull out my journal and read some of my NSVs. I go back to my food journal and follow some of my eathing plans. Everything I've written in the last two years is critical to my success. I wrote so much that has helped "free" me..

Jan.

I am so glad that all that snow dropped in Michigan and not PA. All this rain has been tough for my trail running. I've got mud caked on my running shoes. Probably adds a few pounds to my workout!.

Sherry.

Honesty is the only way we can figure this journey out and be successful. Never easy, but oh so very important..

Christine.

Maybe we can just stay in Lent for a few more months! Might help you reach goal..

Kitty.

Wow..... I never thought of sugar that way, but you are right. It is no different for me to eat sugar than to be taking a drug. Sugar is my drug of choice. One BLT triggers a bad reaction. I can't stop.

When I concentrate on protein, it is so much easier for me to live life. The problem I am facing now, is that I must have carbs for running. I am having a hard time adding them back in without triggering something. Strange, I'm fine weight wise, I'm not fine carbs wise. Go figure.

I am doing better, but I honestly still struggle. I don't think I will ever get to 40% of my calories from carbs. I'm lucky to get to 20..

For those of you who are struggling, know that you are not alone. Whether it is to stay on plan or to transition properly, it isn't always easy. I guess that's why so few people maintain their weight loss. I was reading this months issue of Health magazine this afternoon. It said that most people that lose weight and make goal, weigh more than their start weight 2 years after making goal. That's why the 5% club is so important to me.

The reality is that this is a tough journey, but it is the most important journey of my life. I know that I can do this. Staying here and being honest and accountable is very important to me. If I don't, I will struggle even more. I know this about myself...
