My question is Can I do phase 1 of the vegetarian Medifast Diet for 3-4 weeks instead? Thanks for any answer or 2. Another quick question... This is a club dedicated to the Betty Pages of the Medifast world. The rock-a-billy harlets, the va-va-vixen starlets, and anyone else who wants to connect with their inner vixen are welcome here.. |

You betcha! although you might want to make sure and wait for another member to confirm this as I am not confident. Better yet, why don't you give a call to the Medifast guys because they can give you an answer better...

Good Morning Vixenistas!!!!!!.
*GLOMPS!!!* Welcome back Jenn!!!!!!!!!!!!! And thanks for starting this week's thread!.. |
Morning Ladies!!!.
HEY JENN!!!! Awww at the baby!!. Morning Ash!. Swamped at work just popping in to say hi!.. |
Morning ladies!.
So I gained about 50 lbs with the pregnancy. Lost 30ish so far. Not bad since I haven't tried to lose anything yet. I guess the nursing may be helping the loss. I can't wait to get out my regular clothes to see how they fit. My maternity clothes definitely are getting big - and awkward. I will try to put them on here - for those of you that aren't my friends on FB... |
Well from the link, you can click to see the others I put up... |
Good Morning everyone.
Welcome back Jen. Your little boy is adorable, I saw your pics on FB and love the pics of Julia reading to her baby brother.. |
We got about 1/2 our living room painted yesterday, my Brother was bored so he helped to. Then I went for a walk with Charla & Cooper, it was nice..
Jen it has been really quiet here lately, busy busy pin-ups.
Morning Ash.. |
Morning Lovelies!!!.
Jenn. ....the baby is so cute!!! Thanks for sharing!!.. |
Not a whole lot to report, for me..
I bought Olive Garden salad dressing after work on Friday. It's lowcarb!. I slept away my Saturday. Slept in til 11 am & then was back in bed by 7 pm. Argh. Depression got to me & I missed a lot of meals because of how very little I was awake.. Yesterday I went out to breakfast with my Mom & niece Paige. We then did a double-header of HOP & Rango. HOP was adorable. Rango was a chuckle fest but I think most of the jokes went WAY over my 9 yr old niece's head. Last night we celebrated my great aunt's 88th birthday & I adore that side of my family so it cheered me back up from my funk on Saturday... |
Ash, I am so glad you got cheered up.
I also loved Rango but agree it's not really for younger kiddos, my kids liked it but I dont think they got alot of it.. |
Amy.
- Thanks! I am glad it brought my spirits back up too! I hate being negative nancy & letting the blues get the best of me. I have chemical depression so I know that my brain doesn't produce serotonin naturally in the correct levels. This means that like it or not, I should always have a depression medication in my system just to be at normal levels. ATM I cannot afford the co-pay's to see the "specialist" who issues the prescription for my antidepressants. This means I have been unmedicated for going on 3 months & the levels in my brain are way off unfortunately. It's a matter of what I can sacrifice to scrape up the $80 needed to see the psychiatrist. LOL being an adult sucks.. |
I totally understand that Ash, Ive gone years without insurance at all. We recently re-enrolled in my Hubby's insurance through work and I guess they pay 100% of preventative apt's so now I need to make everyone an apt and go to the Lady Dr. uggg lol.
Ive had alot of depression issues through the years to, really bad after I had my youngest son when I started Medifast in 2009 it helped me alot but I still have issues... |
Hey Girls!.
Amy. - YAY that you get insurance now...boo for lady dr. Although I have a great one I still hate going to see him.. Ash. - my primary prescribes mine. When I moved I didnt want to find a new psychiatrist, and my dr asked what I was on, was it working, blah blah blah and now he prescribes it. I stopped taking it about 1.5 yrs ago as it was too much, and now my NEW primary prescribed me something else and it is doing much better. My mom's lady doctor prescribed hers after her hystorectomy and he still does. Dont know if thats an option or if it would be cheaper to not get it from the specialist?.. |
Is it bad that knowing that so many of us suffer from Depression issues makes me feel less alone? When I was a teenager and first started having issues it was something people did not talk about, to keep to yourself. I kind of always thought I was broken...
GOOOD MORNNNING PINNNIES!!.
I have not back read- gotta make Coop some breakfast then I'll be back.. My babies 18 months today <3 ........ |
Ok I backread a lil.. what a cutie.
Jen. !!!! How old ishe now?.. |
Charla, Jen had a boy.
I gotta head to work, catch up laters. Happy's to Coopy, Tyler turns 7 in exactly 1 month.. |
Amy & Tiff.
- My PCP was the one who initially diagnosed me & started me out on antidepressants. He is admittedly out of date on all the newest & most current information about which meds work best for which types of depression so he advised me to seek out a psychiatrist for the right chemical cocktail. I like the therapist/psychiatrist office where I was going but the copay is $80 a visit with my current health insurance. My PCP would only refer me over to that same office as there is only one psychiatrist in my area without needing to travel about an hour away or further. Thanks for suggestions I really appreciate the love I feel from you!. Tiff. - you aren't alone in feeling relieved that we aren't the only one who struggles at times with depression issues... |
Ash.
- I understand. Just thought if you were doing well on the cocktail you were on your PCP might just perscribe that for you while you save the money. Thats kind of what mine did when I first got here and was doing well on my meds. Of course if you are needing to change the meds thats a horse of a different color altogether... |
Thanks guys!.
Sorry Ash. .. I never even thought of going to a psychiatrist for my anti's.. is that weird or what! Duh???!!!! I dont really think mine work great- just 20 mg of celexa- makes me feel just if that makes sense.. no highs.. pretty much ever, but the lows arent as bad. I want something that will motivate me out of the humdrum and make me feel GOOD for a change.. Tif.. you arent broken.. that made me sad. I just had my words blend.. I knew it was a boy. Coopys my lil sweetpea!! Heres a pic from. Fb this am;.. |
Hi ladies,.
I have been dealing with a work stoppage so my day was crazy. Still not fixed yet but making progress. These are the days that make me crazy.. I had a very busy weekend with the Charity GiveCamp and spent the entire weekend programming web applications. The charities are happy to get very big websites for absolutely nothing. They have to be there during the camp to help us, and maintain the content. People like me, donate our off-time. I am doing another up in Pittsburg area in July. I won a great piece of software in a raffle. My hubby informed me that I am very pathtic.. I did the best I could eating on program. Little sleep, lots of diet coke, and coffee does not make for a good diet plan. I have learned a trigger that can get me off plan if I am not aware of it, and I just really figured it out yesterday. Being overtired is a HUGE trigger and my logical brain doesn't kick in as much. I ate a little off plan yesterday due to being overtired. It oculd have been worse let's put it that way, just had 120 carbs which is NOT what I like doing. The diet coke killed me this weekend and I am trying to get more water in today and the rest of the week... |
Tiffany.
- That's my different colored horse!. To save you all a really drawn out long story the medication dosage I was taking was exceeding the daily dosage "recommendation" from it's manufacturer. This equals a LOT of paperwork & headaches for myself, my psychiatrist & my pharmacy JUST to get those silly red pills in my hot little hands. In lieu of having the funds & energy to even refill my prescription I got smaller dosage samples from my PCP & weaned myself off of it entirely over 12 weeks. Now I am back at square one. I wanted to check & see if I even needed any meds anymore as our bodies change over time. Well I can rest assured that YEP!! I needs them. LOL.. |
Katie.
- Geek out sister friend!!!!!!! Fly your Nerd Flag loud & proud!!! I love being geeky! Congrats also on all the sweet sweet house finds you mentioned in an earlier post over weekend. Don't beat yourself up too bad about the 120 carbs might kick you out of ketosis but at least you are back on track! And good for you about figuring out that overtired trigger you will be THAT much more prepared next time you are faced with being overtired & wondering why your hand got into that jar of *insultbadfoodhere*... |
Charla.
- SORRY it took me so long to tell you but I did check those PB2 jars - suggested use by date of 7/2010. It's past it's shelf life that is suggested but if you wanted them still to see if you even like the product I am more than happy to send to you! Just let me know!!! As for your meds making you JUST level - no highs, no lows that is how most of the medication I have tried made me feel too. The ones that sucked away every ounce of desire I had for sex were the worst!!! The best news I can offer is that each one does something a little different so if celexa isn't giving you what you want ask for a different one... |
It was the stupid jelly beans again. I am telling you they are EVIL..
It was an exhaustion thing. The good part is that I started mindlessly eating them when I was writing code. I caught myself.. Yeah kicking myself out of ketosis sucks but I will get back in AGAIN. It is just worse if I let myself do it for a week.. I was surrounded by food the whole weekend. I resisted SO much temptation but the mindless eating got me with being so tired. I mean for me not to go visit my horse yesterday afternoon that tells you how tired I was!.. |
Yes! I would love to try them still! I'll send you my addy.. thatd be cool! I want Highs!.
I hardly ever get real excited about anything.. it's so weird..... Unless I was drinking.. which I havnt now for 3 months..... |
Charla.
- Yeah, drinking/alcohol changes how our brain processes oxygen & chemicals so it probably let you get to a "high" of happiness that isn't possible without the alcohol. I feel your lack of "highs" woe.. Katie. - damn those jelly beans!!! You got this though. You know how to do it & now you know about the being overtired trigger so you won't let it happen again... |
Hi Again!.
Charla. -. Ash. Is completely right. There are 50 bagillion meds out there. Its a PITA but it's worth it to find the right combo. I think to FIND the right combo a psyciatrist is best, then the normal dr for refills.. Katie. - Sorry you had a slip, but glad you are right back on track. And I second. Ash. Be geeky all you want!! I'm a huge nerd and I know it and don't care!! Glad you had fun!.. |
Well girls I have to go eat now.
And then hopefully back home... |
Drive by hello! I have 3 big assignments due for class tomorrow and have been frantically working on them..
I'm OP and doing well. Hope all of you are good. Don't forget to check into the comp thread. I will catch up tomorrow.. Huggles to all!!!.. |
Thanks... YEAH I WANT MY HIGHS!!!! There was a period of time I tried sooooo many diff ones Lexapro, Paxil, Paxil CR, wellbutrin, effexor, prozac....
I think I felt the best of Paxil but after a year or two it kinda wore out..... Maybe I should see what my co pay for a psychiatrist would cost.. I have no motivation.. none.. my house is a mess and I ignore it- no drive, it's really dumb.. Hi. Katie and Carolyn. !!!!!.. |

Tiffany.
- Aww! I have had to staple the hem of my clothes before! I PROMISE that boys are just not that observant & he will likely NEVER notice. And even if he does for some odd reason it's kinda a funny story, a good icebreaker to get past nerves of the first date.. |
Morning everyone.
Ash I really like subaru's to. But no black rims for me.. |
Thanks.
Ash. ! We are actually having a late date so I can change once home.. I have dog training from 6-7:30 and we are going to meet after that. I will prob change. I was actually wearing the dress just because it's a work clothes dress with a nice jacket. And my boss likes to freeze me. And it would be nice and wearable on the date if training ran late and I didnt have time to change.. But real question here. Do I wear a jeans and a nice shirt, dress pants and nice shirt or a dress with a little sweater? If wearing the dress I would have to wear a sweater or jacket as I tend to be cold all the time. And resturants are freakin freezing here due to it being so hot outside.. |
Amy.
- I like them because they hide the dirt & brakedust! heheheehe I am laaaazy.. |
LOL.
Ash. And. Amy. - I like Subaru's too! Never thought of the black rim benifits! I might have to keep that in mind... |
Tiffany.
- I dress for the venue the type of restaurant? If it's super casual, I'd do jeans with work shoes/dressy shoes & a nice work top. The jeans keep you looking sexy but not TOO serious. The dress & sweater is a BIG favorite of men, they like a lady in a sundress! I wouldn't be caught dead in a dress in real life, pretty much ever but if it's a nice restaurant go all out! That's my two cents!.. |
I dont even own a dress that fits lol, I do have a couple skirts but havent worn it since last summer.
Ash I live way out of town and our road is like a dirt road not a gravel road so I dont even worry about my wheels, but I also dont have a really nice car to get all cleaned up.. |
Heres a few pics for those who dont have facebook.
-living room paint. -My kitty Jinx, loves boxes. -My Crocus' out front.. |
Amy.
- I live rural too! We have muck, then mud & then dust pretty much year round. But I have an anal retentive father who loves to make me like a bad car owner for my dirty vehicle. Oh well!.. |
Amy - your flowers are beautiful! And good job with the painting..
Ash. - Great advice! I dont actually know where we are eating yet. He got stuck at work last night and only called like 5 mins before I have to be in bed. He just called because he said he would call and didnt want me to think he was blowing me off. It was sweet. I stayed up a little late and we talked. He told me I could pick the resturant. He is doing an extreeme low carb diet so no worries on my part that he will pick a pizza place or something. We will see how it goes. He is really funny though. I am actually excited to meet him.. |
I find it very sad that some of my favorite flowers cant grow here..
Its very sad... |
Tiffany.
- I dislike picking too. How did you meet your funny little gentleman? Or is he the nurse you had mentioned?.. |
So true! No worries,.
Tiffany. !!. I can't wait to hear about the date.. This morning was weigh-in and I lost 5 pounds! I'll be more excited when I get below 225 which is my lowest weight ever on MF. Hate that I am making up lost ground and wish I had stayed OP. This is exactly why I am OPing it to goal!.. |
QUESTIONS OF THE DAY......
1. What have you always wanted to try and havent?. Parasailing!. 2. If you could drive any car, what would it be?. I saw this black Ford Mustang Cobra convertible years ago and fell in love with it. I still think about that car so I guess I would pick that.. 3. How many pairs of shoes do you own? How many do you actually wear?. Probably about 20, and only wear about 5 pair.. 4. Favorite Medifast food. My tastes keep changing. I was loving mixing the chocolate mint soft serve with hot coffee, and still do that almost every morning, but the glow has faded, lol. Lately I've really been enjoying the pretzels.. 5. Bonus.. L&G!. Spinach and cheese yesterday. Today it will be chili lime chicken strips over romaine lettuce... |
Grats on your loss Carolyn.
The sun is out this morning I sure hope it gets nice again.. |
We met on OkCupid. We have been messaging back and forth daily now. He is not the nurse. The nurse said he really wanted to meetup again but then dropped of the face of the planet. He insists I pick a place.
We shall call this guy 'V'. V is a hair stylist and co-owns his salon with his family. He is really laid back and knew what Firefly was...so props to him.. I am very excited for this date as we seem to have a lot in common. He insists I pick as my diet is a little more restrictive than his. Any good ideas? I know Longhorns, but I just ate there this weekend with friends. I am really in general not a fan of eating out... |
Carolyn.
- Congrats on your loss!! YAY! You are doing great!. Amy. - glad you are having good weather! I hope it gets nice for you again too.. We are having lots of rain and thunderstorms again today. Hope it clears by tonight!.. |
Amy.
- other than Crocus', do what else do you tend to grow? With the Crocus do you just grow the purple ones or the Saffron ones too?.. |
Tiffany.
- YAY OKCUPID!!!! 'V' sounds delightful! I am way late to the game but I just discovered Firefly! Hope you two click tonight once you get a feel for him in person & that he smells nice! LOL As for picking a place to eat, I am not sure what your choices of restaurants would be down by you. I stick to somewhere I can get a cut of beef & seasonal veggies (asking politely cooked without any butter or oil). I usually also get a salad because it's not enough vegetables no matter where I order from when it's a side. If you list us some of your restaurants, I am happy to help! This is way more interesting to me than work LOL.. |
I like the sound of V! And anyone who knows.
Firefly. Scores points with me, too.. Any Outbacks in your area? They have lots of L & G possibilities... |
Hi girls!! I'm on my lunch at work and it's raining really hard outside so I decided not to get my usual fresh air. How is everyone?! Missed you!..
X-tina!!!.
I've missed you so!! How are things with you? Is work getting any better?.. |
Ash and Carolyn.
- thanks for the help. We have the typical chains. There's Outback, Longhorns, TGI Fridays, and way more. I honestly dont know as he lives in actual Orlando and I live in Apopka. So in between there are literly thousands of resturants! I am going to message him and ask about where he wants to meet. Orlando is big and it depends where he lives in orlando as to what a good halfway point would be... |
Hey Tiffy! I'm doing pretty well. Work is UGH but what can you do? I have resumes out to some different places. I also interviewed for another job here at the college but things are really tough because enrollments are so down, that they're putting up hiring freezes and freezes on transfers and everything. It's crazy. So I'm really hoping for this job I interviewed for. I cornered the hiring manager about an hour ago and asked him if he was still considering me.
Fingers crossed!. Life has been busy but I'm proud to report that I have finished my master's degree! My last day of class was on Saturday and I am going to be graduating with a 4.0 gpa. I'm taking about two months off before I go back to work on 4 more classes in project management so I can have a second specialization ( my first is leading the customer-driven organization). And then? I'll probably get bored and go for my doctorate. I'm pretty predictable. LOL I like school. It keeps me busy and I like learning new things. I've been doing pretty well keeping OP, until one day this past weekend but pick up and move on. I had lost about 6 lbs this past week but I'm working on getting back to my posted weight on my ticker. Keep plugging away!!.. |
Ok Im back.
Just went on a nice 30ish minute walk with Charla, didnt go to far because my ankle is bothering me.. Tiff, I planted a bag of crocus bulbs probably 5 years ago, Im not sure if it was a mixed back or not but I get purple, white & yellowish flowers, I also have daffodils & closer to summer I have a bunch of Lillies. I planted some tulip bulbs but they have never gotten a flower on them.. |
AFternoon Lovelies.....
Carolyn...awesome on the 5lb loss!! Woo hoo!!!. Heatherlea have fun up at the cabin w/ your mom. That sounds wonderful! I love my DLSR camera, I'm on my second one. There are tons of websites w/ great photography information to get you started.. Amy..love the photos. The color in your living room is gorgeous! I have a similar color in my bedroom & our hallway. The crocuses are so pretty too.. Tiffany have fun on your date and I don't know what Firefly is.. Xtina..so nice to see you here. Lots of people are getting rain...we are too...on and off.. AFM:I finished the school memory book photos yesterday..hopefully I won't have to do retakes. I worked at the library this morning and I've been sorting, doing paper work and making phone calls/appts since I got back... |
Congratulations Christina!! That is major! And fingers crossed on the new job for you too!..
X-tina.
- CONGRATS on your degree!! Woot woot!! Way to go on the 4.0!. You rock!. Sorry work is being a pain, fingers crossed about the other job. Glad you are in the running. YAY for 6 lbs! You are doing great, as you said keep plugging away!. Amy. - I love walks. That sounds like a lovely mix of flowers. I know we cant grow tulips or most crocus here, but I really want to try with lilies. We grow them in Alabama but thats a level 8, and we are a 9. So I am not sure they will survive. I'm going to try anyways!. I wonder if I can grow Daffodils? I love those too... |
Sigh...
Busy day here as always... Xtina, that is awesome on your Master's degree. I was SO thrilled getting mine and would love to take more classes but honestly my wallet can't afford it. I need to study for my PMP but just haven't had the drive.. I did Zipline last summer and loved it. I think I cursed every word I knew the first time. Than I closed my eyes and enjoyed the flying feeling. The hardest part was ALL the hiking that is when I decided to start doing something about my weight. I will go back there and do it again. This time I will buy the dvd of pictures... |
Grrr! I brought all my meals today and the mug (for HC) and bowl (for Eggs) and forgot the shaker jar for my shakes! :Palm smacks forehead: So I am using my extra water bottle and it's all chunky.
But I am drinking it anyways!.. |
Morning gals!!!.
Heatherlea. - have a great time! I love Jeeps 2 , I have owned 2 Cherokees and would love to have a Commander to seat more peeps.. ahh needing money...... Carolyn-. Congrats on the big loss!!!!!! Mmm never tried chili lime chx- sounds good!. YAY!. Christina... Super cool and with 4.0 too!! Dang smarty pants!. Tif-. I am excited for your date! Pick a place thats not super noisy so you can converse well.. love a hairstylying man!!!!!. How fun!!!!!!! I like Ash's idea on clothes to wear- jeans- nice shoes( maybe a heel) and a sexy top.. not too sext but a little. Morning. Katie, Heather, Ash!!!!!!!! MIMI!.. |
Thanks Heather.
The color is Wilmington Tan but we are calling it Caramel. I need to take another pic of my crocus now that they are all blooming. Hi Charla.. |
XTINA.
- CONGRATS!!!!!! <3 you!. HeatherMa. - You could zipline with your fine self NOW! Do it! I am WAY over weight restrictions but it's a good goal to keep in mind for when I slim down more.. Ashlee's TOP 3 REASONS TO SLIMDOWN -. 1. Going on a cruise with my mom on May 12. All the sidetrips have weight restrictions on them so I HAVE to be a certain weight if I wanna enjoy them. 2. I am flying to Vegas in October. Last time I was in an airplane my hips didn't fit in the seat. I cried for 5.5 hours & vowed to never do that to myself ever again!!!. 3. 10 year class reunion in late November... |
I know..I just really haven't had the opportunity present itself and I'd be scared (and cursing like Katie, I'm sure) but I still want to try it..
Those are all great reasons to slimdown! And all very motivating!!!.. |
Amy our colors are Shelburne Buff and Peanut Shell..
I want to see the bloomin' crocus!. Charla..I love Jeeps too. always wanted one! HOw did it go last night for Tanner?.. |
Tiffany.
- Don't feel alone about that chunky shake I just consumed a BARELY edible burnt COT "pizza" round. It was mostly brown with some lovely black charred bits but it's all I have to eat for lunch MFwise so I sucked it up & crunched through every bite. Even after making 100's of these I still have to diligently watch that microwave because the difference between delicious & inedible is about oh...15 seconds?.. |

That is a long day. It's harder that it's Monday too. Uggh!!! You're not a dork, just an adoring mom!.. |

My brain hurts from trying to plan college visits in a short time period!..

Okay so I just realized I actually dont own jeans that fit right now.
But. At the same time. Nor are the ones that "kind of" fit washed. I wore them on Sunday. Either way they are too big right now so prob not the best idea to wear them anyways.. I give up on picking a resturant. I am going to give him a few choices and let him indicate. I just want to go to longhorns but he said in his last message we would meet in Altamonte and that he was excited to try some new resturants (as he doesnt normally eat in Altamonte). So I am sure Longhorns doesnt count as "new". I am having a real bad day at work so at this point any resturant looks good to me. I just want to get out and have a little fun.. |

Oh and one other question, would chicken Marsala with a salad on the side be OP? Help please!..
I have a couple of those types of jeans also Tiff. I also have a few smaller jeans that I can work into. My gap jeans are almost to big. IF I wash them, and stick them in the dryer and put them right on..they fit for an hour..
My coworker just gave me a bag of clothes from size 6 - 12 for summer. It is hard to believe how quickly the sizes move now.. OH my new order is coming in a few days and I ordered an entire case of the Dark chocolate. Seriously that has replaced any craving for a piece of chocolate... |

Tiff.
- I wouldn't know if marsala sauce is okay it's a wine based sauce & has flour added to thicken, I believe. I am not 100% on that as I don't eat it. You could get it with sauce on the side & just eat the mushrooms on the chicken? I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I would throw the jeans that are almost the right size in the dryer for 10 minutes on HIGH with one or two dryer sheets. It will shrink them up a tad plus make them smell fresh. I don't wash my jeans more than once a week, no matter how many wears I get in that week because it really fades them too fast... |

I didn't visit many either. She has 8 colleges picked out so it's not that big a list compared to a lot of kids. At least she's narrowed it down by major. We might try to visit four over spring break..
I like Ashlee's idea for the jeans. I was thinking of putting them in the dryer too. Next time you go to Goodwill get really tight jeans!.. |
I don't know anything about Marsala sauce either..
Sorry.. I need to go get Iz from Reading Olympics and take her over to her ride to art. BBL... |
Thanks girls. I found a great resturant, Cafe Murano, that has a totally OP item so I am going to suggest it and Longhorns..
And he can pick. YAY resturant issue solved!. For the jeans...even drying they dont look good...thats what I did this Sunday just to wear them to go get a table. I'm just going to wear something else. If he says yes to Cafe Murano I will wear a dress and sweater and for longhorns my tan dress pants and shirt. The new (goodwill new) tan pants are fairly casual dress pants.. I plan on going to Goodwill this weekend for jeans. Just ran out of time last weekend... |

- GOOD LUCK TONIGHT! I hope he is as awesome in person as he comes across thus far. Your outfit selections both sound nice. But more importantly have FUN!!!.. |

Thanks.
Ash. ! I plan too! I sent him a message about the two resturants and asked him to pick. We shall see!. So. Miss Ashlee. , what are your evening plans? If I was not going on a date I had planned training followed by playing my new wii game that is coming by UPS tonight! VERY excited about the game.. |
