First off, Attn: Medifast Diet people. Got any good soup recipes? Hoping for any answer. Another question I got... Hi, everyone! I'm fairly new to Medifast and have a question. I've noticed often on the boards people will say they limit the amount of bars they eat. I by no means have 5/day, but I do not understand why they should be limited.

Am I missing something? Thanks!.

P.S. How does everyone display their ticker at the bottom of their posts?..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I find an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..

Thanks so much, GGRobin. Yes, I am talking about the Crunch bars, not the maintenance bars. I do not have any maintenance bars and don't plan to for a long time. I really appreciate the response. I was hoping I wasn't missing something. You certainly seem to be a reliable source considering your success! Congrats!! You're an inspiration!.

P.S. Thanks for the ticker info, too!..

Athena, there are many Medifast Fables and Folklore floating around..

Also a lot of wonderful information out there. Very smart of you to take your advice from GG or any of the other successful veterans out in Medifast land...

Just affirming what the others have said... you really could have 5 bars per day if you choose..

The only reason I've heard to limit them is because they cause gas for some people (I've not had a problem) and that they are slightly higher in carbs and may slow your weight..

Personally, usually have only one desert-like treat per day. While the nutritional content is the same in all the meals, I want to prepare myself for the day when I'm no longer eating Medifast meals. For me, having a daily diet that seems "normal" breakfast foods, soups, salty snacks, and dessert is a better preparation for eating when I get back to the real world..

This is just mental preparation and is what works for me. From a nutritional standpoint, it really doesn't matter which Medifast meals you choose to eat...

The bars are my favorite things. I eat around 3 to 4 a day usually. I do limit the chocolate mint maintenace bar to ONE a day. Glad we can have the crunch ones often. A few of them I can't buy..they "bother" my innerds. lol..

Mamamast, you made a really great point. I like what you said about preparing how to eat normal. You're right. When I'm trying to maintain my weight loss, I'm not going to have something sweet several times/day. I think when I get close to goal (a loooong way to go), I will try to eat more "normal." For example, eggs in the morning, soup for lunch, pretzels, shake, then bar, etc. Thanks for the input!..

I had tried Medifast for a short time about 5 years ago, and at that time, the bars.

Were.

Limited to one a day. In fact, you could have either one bar or the chili per day, but you were not supposed to have both of them in a day. At that time, they were higher in carbs than the other Medifast products, so if you had more than one of them a day, it could take you out of the fat-burning stage. But now that everything has been reformulated, it seems like they are all equal and we can have whatever we enjoy most..

HTH,..

As Losing4Life says, five years ago the plan was a bit different. The crunch bars did not exist; there were only the bars that apparently are now considered maintenance bars. You were limited to one bar per day, and you were supposed to have no more than two non-shakes a day. So I ate oatmeal for breakfast, the bar for lunch, and my other three meals were shakes. I lost 90+ pounds on that version of Medifast in 2005, and kept it off for two years until I had an injury that set me on my butt, not moving much, and reverting to comfort food habits. I didn't gain it ALL back, but enough so that here I am again. And I tell ya I love the greater variety in Medifast products that there is now!..
